"i checked again." raven enters the drop ship. "there's still no sign of them."
"where are they?" bellamy asks.
"we shouldn't have split up." raven shook her head.
"wait, someone's coming." bellamy whispers as the sound of feet hitting mud outside. bellamy lifts his gun, ready to shoot if it was a grounder, but as murphy came in he held up his hands.
"woah, hey, hey, hey."
"murphy." bellamy looked surprised. raven placed her hand on bellamy's gun and lowered it. "what are you doing here?"
"i believe i was invited." murphy pointed to raven.
"i thought we could use an extra gun." raven states.
"might be a good idea." bellamy nods.
"finn and clarke should've been right behind you." raven says.
"don't worry." murphy says as he drops his bag. "the spacewalker's gonna be fine."
"clarke can take care of herself." kodie nods before hugging murphy. "hey."
"hi." he smiles at her. "i see you don't have a gun?" he raises an eyebrows.
kodie rolls her eyes. "bellamy doesn't trust me with one."
"she'll probably just shoot me." bellamy responds.
kodie shrugs her shoulders. "yeah, true."
finn came rushing in with clarke in his arms and bellamy stepped forward. "what the hell happened?"
"a grounder hit her on the head." finn says as he places her down.
"i need a bandage, a wrap, anything." bellamy says, kneeling down next to her.
"got it." murphy said, rushing over to his bag. he pulled something out and handed it to bellamy.
"clarke?" kodie kneeled down next to bellamy. "clarke, can you hear me?" the blonde groaned and kodie smiled at her. "you're gonna be okay. just rest."
raven walked over to finn. "she's gonna be okay. it's just a bump on the head."
"we're gonna figure this out." kodie walks over.
"that's what she said right before i almost got her killed." finn said before walking out of the drop ship.
"i got this." kodie mumbles as she follows him out. "finn!" he stopped and turned to her. "listened, clarke's going to be fine."
"i know." he nods slowly. "but," he gulps. "i thought she was dead when she first went down. she almost died because of me."
"she didn't die because of you." kodie places a hand on his bicep. "you saved her."
"you know i deserve to die, kodie. you hate me for what i did." he shakes his head.
"i've been living on the ground for nearly four years." she states. "i've learned the grounders' way and how they do things. blood must have blood." she eyes him. "i'm not saying i want you dead, but either way there will be bloodshed."
"and it'll be because of me." he says quietly as bellamy and murphy exit the drop ship.
"you should go on in with clarke." bellamy says to finn. "we'll keep guard."
"how can i keep guard if i don't have a gun?" kodie raises an eyebrow.
bellamy rolls his eyes at her before walking back into the drop ship. he came back out with a gun and handed it to the blue eyed brunette.
finn headed inside and as the three stood out there kodie clicked her tongue. "this is awkward."
"what?" murphy asks.
"nothing." bellamy answers before he walks off.
"did something happen or?" murphy raises an eyebrow.
kodie shakes her head. "no."
she wandered over to hide behind a large section of tree that had fallen when the drop ship had 'went boom' as raven says. murphy found another part of tree that had fallen and hit behind it also.
"we have company!" bellamy shouts and raven comes rushing out with finn and a conscious clarke behind her. "there's grounders, get down!" bellamy says to finn and kodie's hands started to shake as grounders ran around outside the wall. kodie quickly raced over to clarke and finn, getting down behind the large pile of ash they were hiding behind.
"we're surrounded." clarke says quietly.
"we need to get back in the drop ship." kodie says. "come on." as the three of them rush back in the drop ship the grounders didn't bother chasing them or shooting arrows at them. bellamy, raven and murphy soon rushed in and kodie placed her palm to her forehead.
"they're not coming any closer." murphy says as he peeks out behind the sheet that was in front of the drop ship entrance.
"they're staying out of range." bellamy responds. "they'll be waiting until it's dark."
"if we hit them now, we take them
by surprise." murphy suggests.
"we don't even know how many of them are out there." clarke says.
murphy sighs. "i'm not hearing any better ideas, clarke."
"we'll give them something." raven says.
"all they want is finn." bellamy points out the obvious.
"finn wasn't the only one at the village." raven states.
"what are you talking about?" clarke asks.
"raven, hold on." bellamy steps forward.
"woah, woah, woah. raven, i came here to protect him. you were the one that wanted me to come. you..." murphy glanced over at finn before looking back at raven. "that's why you asked me to come along?"
"enough grounders saw him. they'd believe he was the shooter." raven says.
"you sick bitch." murphy shakes his head.
"raven, you don't mean this." clarke says.
"you know what they do to people." bellamy steps in.
"they want a murderer. we'll give them one." raven points her gun at murphy. "drop your gun."
murphy steps forward, right in front of her gun. "go to hell, raven."
"put it down, raven." kodie says, placing a hand on murphy's chest. she pushed him back a bit and stepped in front of him, so the gun was pointed at her face instead of his. "this is finn's fight, not murphy's. the only way murphy would've been able to stop finn was if he shot him. finn would already be dead right now if murphy was such a bad guy."
"finn's your best friend, kodie." raven shakes her head. "why are you doing this?"
"i've lived on the ground long enough to know that shit happens and people need to own up to it." kodie says. "i want finn alive just as much as you do and i'm trying to help find a solution, but murphy is not the solution."
"stop." finn pushed raven's gun away from kodie's face. "we're not doing this. they've got us surrounded. the only thing we can do is stay and defend this place."
bellamy nods, "i'm with you." clarke nods in agreement along with raven.
"murphy?" finn questions.
"yeah." murphy nods.
"me too." kodie says.
"go upstairs, watch the rear." finn instructs and murphy heads up the ladder. "kodie and i will take the lower level. you three, take the front gate. that's the plan, all right?"
"hey," raven looks at finn. "we got this."
finn nods, pulling her into a hug. "may we meet again."
raven pulls away. "we will."
finn nods again, "yeah." once kodie and finn were left alone finn spoke up. "you're right."
"about what?" kodie asks.
"this is my fight." he shakes his head. "i can't let everyone die because of what i did." he lifts up the hatch that led underneath the drop ship. "i need to end this and i want your help."
"how?" she asks.
"you need to give me up to the grounders. you've been on the ground the longest out of all of us and i need to to stay alive for everyone else—for raven. if they see you giving me up to them, they'll probably honour you. yes, raven's going to hate you for awhile. hell, they all might, but they'll understand eventually."
"finn, i—"
"either you give me up or i'm going out their on my own." he says.
kodie purses her lips before giving him a small nod. "okay."
"alright, let's go. we'll go around back." he made his way down the ladder, leaving his gun behind, and kodie followed, doing the same, until they were outside of the drop ship and outside the wall. finn pulled a rope from his pocket. "tie me."
"finn, i don't know if i can do this." kodie shakes her head quickly.
"you have to." he hugs her tight. "may we meet again, someday."
kodie takes a deep breath to stop herself from crying and nods, tying his hands together. she grabs the collar of finn's jacket, leading him around to the front of the camp. the leaves rustled under their feet as they walked and when they stood in front of the entrance raven quickly stood from behind her hiding spot.
kodie kicks the back of finn's legs and he falls on his knees. she knew the grounders could see and hear her even though she couldn't see or hear them. "he's all yours."
"finn!" she heard clarke shout and she squeezed her eyes shut as grounders came out of nowhere, picking finn up off the ground. they drug him away and kodie turned to face the three.
"i'm sorry." she shook her head and as a grounder grabbed her arm she turned to him.
"i'm sure the commander would like to speak with you." he said and kodie gave him a nod before following him into the woods.
