Saved (Pt. 1?)//Sabito
"Don't hurt her!"
Menacing red eyes flickered unto the young boy. Y/N gathered the little strength she had left from her wounded and aching body.
"Leave me..."
"No!" Sabito yelled.
"I sssssee the little girl issss the only one with a mind here." The demon twisted his neck in mock admiration at Y/N, who he held roughly by her F/C furisode (a clothing). His mouth widened into an unnaturally wide grin, dangerous rows of fangs gleaming in the moonlight.
Sabito was trembling all over. The first demon he encountered..... yet he only had half of the training to vanquish one.
But what type of excuse is that for the loss of an innocent life?
With the knowledge he learned from Urokodaki, he positioned himself in a fighting stance, a would-be blade clenched in his hand.
"You should be leaving her alone, not me!" Sabito lashed out, trying to level the shakiness of his voice. "If I were to abandon her now, that would make me no better than you are!"
"Impressssssive, your courage is!" The demon cackled, throwing the quivering Y/N harshly to the ground. Sabito gnashed his teeth determinedly, wielding the "katana" (which happened to be a sharp-pointed stick he found) on his hand.
"What a good heart.... perfect for dinner!"
The demon whipped by him in a flash. Sabito yelled in agony as he felt a sharp pain by his side.
The girl... I've got to protect her!
A demon slayer's top priority; to ensure the safety of humans. Shakily, he repeated his stance in front of Y/N, holding out his stick.
The demon was momentarily surprised. He'd assume the boy would run away and cry to his parents by now.
He'ssssss different.
The demon laughed maniacally, aiming a blow at the young boy yet again.
Sabito could not recall how many times he was slashed. How many times he had to dodge, how many bruises, nor wounds. He had blacked out right before Urokodaki swooped in to kill the demon himself.
~~~~~~
That was two years ago.
Now, Sabito had the hilt of a real katana by his side; along with his best friend (*cOUgh* oR mAYBE M O R E ThaN bEst fRiend?! *COuGH*-) Giyu, he was finally going to be a true demon slayer.
"Are you ready, Sabito?" His friend asked him with wide, blue eyes.
"Definitely." He brandished his katana, the same feeling of determination from that first time he encountered a demon rushing back to him.
One of the blank-eyed twins stepped forward, finally raising a hand.
"The final selection has commenced. Fight your best, and good luck!"
~~~~~~
Sabito rushed over to Giyu, who had been cornered by a powerful demon. The ebony-haired boy backed up in fear as the terrifying mass of arms and legs loomed over him. Sabito wasted no time rushing into battle, letting out a fierce cry.
"SABITO!" Giyu gasped.
He tried to join in the battle, but it was too fierce. But from the looks of it, his friend was on the more risky end. Giyu watched in horror as the demon kicked Sabito to the ground.
"NOOOOO!" Giyu cried, rushing over to them. But he knew it was too late. He was too far away.
But he had to run!
kRKSH!
A bone sickening crunch.
Giyu stopped in his tracks. Was Sabito alright?
To his relief, he was. The demon had been kicked to the ground by something lightning-fast from the trees to the left. What could it be?
The demon was suddenly turned into ash. Whatever that was had been precise. Sabito was the first to rush over to their mysterious ally.
"Hey! You!"
His savior slowly turned around. Sabito stopped in his tracks.
She had wide, relieved eyes, her tousled hair billowing in the wind.
For some reason, Sabito found her to be a familiar face... and rather pretty.
"Hey, uh.. thank you..."
"No. Thank you."
The boy felt confused.
"For what...?"
"For saving my life."
Sabito could only stare, half entranced by her beauty, half perplexed at her words.
"You've improved greatly... compared to the last two years. Let's both get through this test and become demon slayers, shall we?" She smiled warmly.
How did she..?!
Suddenly, it clicked.
The girl wore an F/C furisode.
"Wait! What's your name?!" Sabito cried, but she had already disappeared into another part of the forest.
"Sabito...?" Giyu asked timidly from behind.
The boy turned to his dumbfounded friend.
"C'mon, Giyu." Sabito grabbed him by the hand, eyes flashing with a new sort of determination. He had to see that girl again....
"Let's beat up some more demons."
