Aditya 5
Jan looked at the paremeters of Ira. It was strangely stable. He had not expected this seamless a progress through the galactic journeys. His own was not as unaffected. His heart beat much faster, the nerve in his brain that signaled sixth sense, undeveloped in humans, throbbed signaling its presence. But what was his sixth sense trying to say.
Janat had no access to Aditya 5. He cancelled her access, that needed her to go back from half way. He knew she followed them but in trance. The Aditya 4's bareness would hopefully return her to normalcy. Then with the different star systems moving closer to observe, what was happening. This created havoc to their gravitation and how things balanced. He would not be surprised if he heard other strange theories from the doctors and medical practitioners who may be most vulnerable to their influence.
Ira opened her eyes and looked at Jan. She recognised him but did not know how to react to waking up from sleep in his bed. He laughed. This was not a reaction he had believed possible. Fear, surprise, anger, dread .. he could deal with. This was like, "What did I do" .
"We have not done anything yet Ira. Relax. You just completed a long, long journey and hence I put you in a comfortable place."
"I want to go to the Telescope. " She demanded suddenly, trying to get up before falling back.
"Where is this ? Where am I?" She suddenly asked aloud. Finally the correct question thought Jan.
She was a scientist and a most pure one at that. She guessed by the gravitation and magnetic fields and not with her eyes.
Jan just looked at her and something in him forced him to show an authentic part of his soul. His hair grew in leaps and bounds and reached his feet. They changed to golden and then back to black with shades of brown.
She looked most unimpressed, "What are you doing ? Control the hair. Where am I ? Speak.."
Jan laughed. Intergalactic travel indeed, "You are quite brave my dear Ira. You can barely get up in this planet of mine and you are demanding I stop growing my hair ? "
She looked around. The glass looked like one forged in steel with silencer as an animal with horns was striking on it.
"What is that ?" She asked in wonder. "That stands on two feet just like humans. "
Jan relaxed. She would be many things, but her priority was at the correct place. But before he could answer she rushed up and then fell and got up again.
"It is in pain and needs medication. Open the door. It is having a baby."
She again tripped on Jan 's feet, her failing hand stuck his nose causing it to make a strange breaking sound. He jumped and got himself the medicine for stopping blood loss and only a drop of the pure Sirius's blood fell on the ground where it sparkled by a trillion rainbows, sending alarm bells everywhere. In that sound, Ira stuck the buttons controlling the transparent wall between her room and the forest. It rolled down and she jumped out.
Now the sound was joined by the alarm indicating to everyone that the barrier between Jan and the forest creatures are down. All lasers pointed at the forest. With a broken nose, Jan pressed the signal to halt everything, Laser, fortification and wall closure. Ira was out there. Also it was years since the creatures were last reviewed.
Ira looked up at the figure infront of her. There were others who stood in respectful distance. Jan looked at them in detail and agreed, that some of them looked closer to a human or him than a wild creature. Was Aditya 5 transforming them to a more sophisticated life form. Jan stood transfixed when Ira spoke to them in her tongue and they seemed to understand and respond back in syllables. But how, he wondered.. They did not have any cover from the radiation of the Sirius 2. Someone answered him within, just like the plants in Aditya 5 that has absorbed all the radiation and grown wild in beauty, they have evolved too.
She touched the place of the heart of the creature that almost obediently laid down on the ground . Then she touched hers - "Ira" she whispered introducing. The creature moaned in pain but whispered back, " Sira."
At their last interaction, years back, these same creatures whom the Lubdhans called as Bukbuk for that was the sound they used to make, had been fierce. They had wanted the land in not many words of Aditya 5. The representative had disregarded them and called them fools. They had tried to speak but it was unclear. But Jan remembered the feeling of hearing, "We would come back empowered."
It appeared they had. How many years was it ? Time passed differently on this Aditya. Ira was exposed to the radiation that grew the plants and creatures here. Yet they all seemed calm to her.
Someone whispered to his mind, " Of the earth, to the earth." Another audible whisper came, "One of ours. " That whisper grew, as she probed the stomach of the fallen Bukbuk and cradled the horned head lovingly on her lap. Jan looked surprised as how comfortable she sat on the bare ground. Usually the ground refused when someone stepped on it. Here the ground waited as did everyone , as did her.
She calmed the Bukbuk and then turned to Jan. "She needs an operation. She has a baby moving inside, but I am not doctor and I would not know how to do a normal delivery. "
She turned and looked at bukbuk in her arms with interest. "Also how do they give birth..?"
If seemed to Jan that all the Bukbuks gave self-conscious smiles and moved back slightly.
Yet the scientist was on her mission of asking embarrassing questions, " How do they have sex. They must do it right if there is so many of them here. Where is that organ."
A few Bukbuks glared at him as Jan laughed. He shook his head in a silent apology. He pressed the signal to Aditya 4, "Janat are you still there?"
She was there as her visuals came up, though it appeared in anger and forgotten promise her hair had grown back. The image stalled Jan. There was indeed a strange similarity to Ira. What he did not know, but there was one.
"I had cleared your access to Aditya 5. You will need to operate on a Bukbuk. Come prepared."
He knew from Janat face on the screen, she was disgusted. Bukbuks disgusted them. May be because irrespective of acid rains and torrential inter galactic winds they survived and thrived.
"Ira is tending to one." Jan added softly. He closed the visuals. Just because they had the capacity did not mean they would have to use it always, unlike the earth creatures who used and overused every innovation till that destroyed themselves or their planet.
The tunnel reopened as Janat walked in. Her hair was again gone and along with it the similarity with Ira. She looked at Ira chatting with the Bukbuk as the barrier stayed down.
"What ?" She asked surprised and shocked.
"Apparently that Bukbuk is in pain for a difficult birth. Ira wants to help them."
Jan closed in beside Janat as she stood in deep thought. By the gift that was bestowed to his lineage, he closed his eyes and tuned in to Janat's thoughts.
"Janat stood there knowing very well, even a no would not earn her demerit. This was however deeper than the commitment to the planets. It was the commitment to her father who travelled galaxies to be with her mother. There's was a true love, one that meant deep camouflage and a life spread across different timelines and planets.
She was born earlier and always knew that her father was present in their lifes even when he was not physically there in Adityas. Then for a few blessed years , she met him and knew what it was to have a father in the family. They hid him as was the requirement of the day. His love was priceless but so was the memory of his deep regret of betraying a family in the earth who took him in as their own.
His disappearance was not unexpected. He had a secret vehicle which had also disappeared post that day. It was possibly a failed attempt to reconnect with the children when he understood their mother was demised on earth. He would not have survived that journey as the Sirius 2 had sent a particular strong magnetic storm that day. Even his remains could not be recovered as they were scattered everywhere in the galaxy. May be he became the stardust that was his childhood aim.
She decided to help the Bukbuk, even as she understood why father had to come back. If Ira stood for the average humans, then they would take unnecessary risk. A habit that the Adityas taught them to give up. Risk for them meant death as his father's actions showed her."
Jan wondered if he stood ask his security to check on Janat and her family. Who was this intergalactic traveller who was causing her a confusion or was there truly a hidden mission of travels right beneath his nose. But for now he observed as Janat shook trying to sit down and then jumped back as the ground would have reacted to her action.
"Sorry. I want to help, but can not." Janat whispered.
"Tell me what to do ? Where is their organ that gives birth ?" Ira asked again.
Now instead of any funny reaction, an older Bukbuk came up and gently shieled others view and showed Ira. Jan felt his heart twitch and he bowed his head slightly.
