Father of Ira
What was his original name he did not remember well. In Sirius star system he was unnamed. Yet it was the love of the lady that brought him here. He had trust that his last excavation would show him how inter-Stellars interacted since ancient age. He never expected to find a being sleeping in a cocoon inside an excavation site. How many thousands of year had she slept, he had wondered, only to be corrected.
"I was just a form that had no life. My mission was to come to life when I interacted with the atmosphere of the earth or any other planet that was conducive to me. Else all you would have found was a mis formed skeleton and thought much about it. "
Imon as he remember from a frail memory, someone called him lovingly. Was it his mother. Yet all his memories were impacted since meeting the lady. Gorgeous beyond words, she stood regally and demanded that he escort her to her planet.
"I can imagine when I return a huge hue and cry, we would have a child ofcourse and name her Janat. I heard that name here on earth."
He had been in trance, he had broken his relations with his planet to return with his lady. The return was excruciatingly painful. He did not understand what was happening beyond he was sucked into a packet that was sealed and then he was squeezed to his limits. Yet he could not loose consciousness as his lady would have told him. He wanted a last glance at the remains he had so lovingly excavated before he left everything.
The director of the excavation was he, so he had to answer to no one for his decisions immediately. But he still tried to explain to his Boss far away what had happened and why he had taken that decision. His Boss a certain Mr. Rover, whom he had met only once, wrote back immediately, supporting him.
"If you believe you have established connection with the superior living form, in the ancient site, go for it. I will come and take over the excavation. Your efforts will remain in your name, all your finds and theories, barring this. This one would be too big to put forth in this skeptical world."
He had called him on the site phone and spoken, "I hope you understand the sacrifice you are doing. No one would know , your family may hate you, till you come back. "
He had assured, he would come back, though even then memories of his family were steadily fading from his mind. Two names stayed - Aira and Ira. The lady was casting his spell, but he was willing.
The journey showed many things. The regal lady was a doctor of the new star system. She was however no ancient being. No great fanfare waited for her when she landed rather a disgust. The being there ignored her and reminded she had taken out a flight for a week to see the atmospheric disturbances and returned after many weeks. He listened shocked as they read her punishment of staying in that planet and preparing the paper and never flying again on any mission, between galaxies and also between that very star system.
He had begged to be let out but she clung to the hope of showing all that she was a true traveller of galaxies having completed the journey to the solar system in record time by finding creases in the black hole system from where matter leaked out. She navigated it perfectly only the traveller had bad star burns. But her permission to speak had been taken away, allocating to her a small place in Apollo 8.
To his horror he understood, she had targetted him to be her experiment to prove her authenticity to the leaders and ancients of the system, who had ignored her theories. But by the time they landed in a planet, Imon was unwell. Still alive but by a thread. He knew no return journey was possible. He also knew he had been used, fooled, taken for a ride. He decided to pay it back. As she took care of this creature she brought back for nothing from the planet of earth with some disgust, she somehow fell under his trance. Soon she was convinced she loved him , more importantly she expected possibly the first intergalactic baby of her planet. She hid the baby calling her Janat. But soon it was evident that she was pregnant. The ancients called her and asked her some details, she was vague, unclear, yet she passed their test.
The child Janat, was of Sirius, Lubdhan, registered. Her father's name was marked as not required, a rare grace by the ancients and the young doctor was given back her position in the laboratory. She still however did not have the permission to travel.
So in a secluded corner of Apollo 8, ignoring all offers of a better planet, Janat was raised by her mother. Yet in all capacity it was her handicapped father retricted to the bed, who raised her. He told her about love, family, folk tales of a different land and also told her Air and Ira must always be saved and protected. It was a surprise that no one knew of his existence or they did understand but ignored. Janat grew up and it was time to say a good bye to the child who was born to two intergallectic being.
Imon raised his hand with difficulty and blessed Janat. "Rise always after a fall. Remember nothing is more important than life, wherever you live. Always choose life. When you can protect your brother and sister. They may not be as capable as you. "
That was a few years away but till today he clung to the planet where he had his most meaningful relation. Janat may never see him again, but his spirit lingered in plant number 8, Aditya 8, reassuring her after each heart break and stumble, that she had a little human in her. Humans never feared failure. They always survived. "Be human Janat. Be a human. " He whispered. He possibly had drawn lines around Janat long back, such that her mother had become an alien. But that is what the lady paid for creating the "maya" so huge that even the archeological expert like him was fooled.
But then he was no Lubdhan, "To be fooled was natural for a human, to err too. But learn and grow. Someday my Janat would be the best this planet would have."
Janat clung to that words even as Imon, his spirit frail now, clung to Aditya 8 and whispered eight times, and tried to invoke some ancient power that planet had. The radiation that increased did not harm him anymore so he floated and protected when he could his only daughter he raised by hand. His other children, frail memories now, he chose to burden his daughter with. The burden of love, the burden of her father's words, he understood but there was nothing much he could do from his form.
Far away as the stars twinkled, he looked for the Sun. It would be frail but the most important and life giving of all. Near by other constellations moved closer. Infinite spirits floated unwilling to let go of their lifes. Yet some willingly disintegrated. He would be one too, soon, as soon as Janat stopped needing him.
He it was a miracle that he had survived.
