1:Saying Goodbye

"Miss Saira! Wake up, or you're gonna be late for school!" Tessai yelled, pounding on my bedroom door. I groaned and yawned as I sat up. "Okay, okay, I'm up, I'm up!" I yelled. I hurridly dressed into my school uniform and ran upstairs to the shop. "Morning Tessai," I said, yawning. "Good morning, Miss Saira," he greeted. "I trust that you slept well?"  I nodded as I slung my bookbag over my shoulder and grabbed my lunch. "Bye Tessai! See ya after school!" I called as I ran out the door. Outside, I ran into my friend Chad Yasutora. Literally! I didn't see him in my path and I hit him head on! "Aaah!" I screamed. Chad, being the gentleman that he was, grabbed me before I could hit the ground. We both fell and I wound up on top of him right as my other friend, Keigo Asano rounded the corner. Yeah...REALLY BAD timing on our part.

Keigo smiled slyly. "Why Chad! I never knew that you and Saira were together!" Then, he began to laugh. Chad blushed slightly, whereas I turned a dark shade of red. "Shut up, Keigo!!!" I yelled angrily. "Chad and I are only friends, right Chad?" Chad just stared at me. "Chad!! Hello~o!!!" I called, snapping my fingers. "Hmm?" he said, blinking at me. "Will you PLEASE tell Keigo that you and I are only FRIENDS?!" Chad turned to Keigo and nodded. "Only friends," he said. Keigo pulled a sad face and pouted. "But Chad! Just look at how beautiful Saira is!" he said. "If you don't take her, someone else will! Someone like me!!!" Then, Keigo attempted to kiss me. I sidestepped him and put him in a headlock. "I wouldn't go out with you if you were the last guy on Earth, Asano!!!" Chad placed a hand on my shoulder. "Saira, if we don't hurry, we'll be late." I gasped and released Keigo as I slung my bookbag over my shoulder. Then, Chad and I began to high tail it to school. "Hey wait!!! What about ME?!" Keigo called. I smiled. "Sorry Keigo!!! I'll make it up to ya later, I promise!!!" I called as we ran off.

I panted as we reached the inside of our class. "We're...Here!" I gasped out. Everyone in the class just stared at me. "Good morning, Saira!" my best friend Orihime greeted. I smiled and yawned. "Good morning." "Are you allright?" Orihime asked. I nodded. "Just a little late work at the shop, that's all," I replied. "The only good thing coming from this is spending time with my father." "I don't believe that!"  Tatsuki yelled. I sighed. "Hello to you too, Tatsuki," I said. "You were up all night training again, weren't you?!" I shook my head. "No. I told you, we had late work at the shop!" I said. Chad put a hand on my shoulder. "Calm down," he said. I sighed. "Sorry, Tatsuki." She smirked. "Takes a helluva lot more than that to get me down!" she said. "Speaking of which, are you coming to the dojo?" I shook my head. "Can't. I've gotta help out at the shop," I replied. Tatsuki groaned and Orihime looked at me, concerned. "Your dad's working you too hard, Sai," she said. I smiled. "It's the family business, 'Hime," I said. "It's not supposed to be easy." Then, the teacher walked in. "Yasutora! Arisawa! Inoue! Urahara! Take your seats!!!" he barked.

I nodded and ran to my desk as quickly as I could. The rest of the day went by slowly, and after what seemed like an eternity, the final bell rang. "Class dismissed," the teacher said. I sighed. Finally! I thought as I gathered up my things and placed them in my bag. "Saira?" Chad's voice called from behind me. I screamed and jumped, causing my bookbag and its contents to fall to the ground. I growled. "Dammit Chad!!! Don't SCARE me like that!!!" I yelled angrily. "Sorry," Chad said. I scowled and bent over to recover what fell. Chad knealt and helped me out. "So what was it you wanted?" I asked. "Tomorrow, if you're not too busy...Would you like to...To..." Chad stammered. "Spit it out, Chad!" I said, scowling. "Would you like to...go to dinner with me?" Chad asked. I gasped, then laughed. "Why Chad!" I said. "If I didn't know better, I'd say that you were asking me on a date!"  Chad nodded. "That's right," he replied. "Huh?!" I said, my eyes wide. "I'm asking if you'll go out with me. If you aren't busy tomorrow night, I mean," Chad said. I gasped and began to blush. "If you don't want to, that's perfectly fine..." "No!" I said. "I like you and you've proven that you're a good guy more than once! I'd love to go out with you, Chad." Chad smiled. "My house, 6:00," I said. "Don't be late."  Chad nodded and left.

I smiled and ran outside. Halfway to my house, I was encountered by a black monster wearing a white mask. "Hehehe! Ah!" it said, smirking. "I thought I smelled the blood of a Soul Reaper!" I gasped and took a fighting stance. "Soul Reaper?! What the hell are you talking about?!" I asked angrily. The monster simply laughed and threw one of its tendrils at me. I dodged in the nick of time, barely avoiding being impaled. I grunted as my body collided with the ground. Then, the monster picked me up and squeezed my body as hard as he could.

I screamed in agony and began to repeatedly pound the monster's hand. "That won't help you," he said while laughing. "And now...I'll eat your soul for dinner!" Then, the monster's mouth opened. It reeked of human flesh and blood. I shut my eyes tightly. I...I'm really...gonna die here... I thought. Tessai..! Ururu..! Jinta..! Ichigo..! Uryu..! Orihime..! Tatsuki..! I'm sorry...I'll never be able to see your smiling faces again..! I then began to think about Chad and my father. Chad, who after expecting me for a date, would instead find me dead on the street. My dad, who loved me and believed in me without a shadow of a doubt, would be expecting me at home and wouldn't even know that I was dead until the news came on. "Time to eat!!!" the monster yelled. "N...NOOO!!!!" I yelled. "GET AWAY!!!!" Then, I thrusted my hands out and a bright light shone. The monster screamed and released my body.

I hit my knees and panted for a few seconds...And then I knew no more.

A few hours later...

"It can't be..!" I heard Tessai's voice say. "I'm afraid so, Tessai," a male voice said. "A Hollow...In Karakura Town..! I should've known!" I heard my father say. "My poor daughter!" I moaned softly. "F...Father..." I said softly. "Looks like she's coming to," another male voice echoed. I slowly opened my eyes. The first ones I saw were my father and Tessai. "T...Tessai-San," I said, smiling. "Father..." Tessai sighed with relief and my father hugged me. "Dad! Let go! OUCH! You're...Crushing me..! Need...Air!" I gasped out. "Thank God," he said, his voice breaking. "Thank God you're allright! I thought I'd lost you!" I pulled away, smiling. "Daddy," I said. "I'm fine! Really I am!" In the midst of our father-daughter moment, someone interrupted by clearing their throat. I turned and saw two men. One was tall with spiky red hair that was wearing a  bandana over his forhead. The other was much shorter and had silver hair, icy blue eyes, and had the kanji for "captain" on his back. Both men carried swords and wore a black and white kimono. "Now that your daughter has come to, Kisuke, we need to talk," the short man said. My father nodded. "Yes, yes...I know," he said. "Excuse me..." I said politely. "Would you like to join us for dinner?" my father asked. Both men nodded. "EXCUSE ME!!!" I yelled as loudly as I could manage.

The men and my father turned. "Daddy, what's going ON?!" I asked, my eyes wide. "You know them?!" My father nodded. "Allow me to introduce them to you, Saira," he said, smiling. "The one with the headband is Renji Abarai, and the one with the silver hair is Toshiro Hitsugaya." They nodded. "Nice to meet you," I said, bowing. "Likewise," Toshiro said. "Mr. Urahara," Tessai said. "Dinner's ready." My father nodded and we walked into Urahara Shoten's main room. Toshiro and Renji sat on opposite sides of my father and I. "So. Toshiro, Renji...What was it you wanted to talk about?" Renji turned to me. "Did you see that monster from before?" "Yes," I replied. "It just appeared right in front of me! Why?" Toshiro's eyebrows raised. "Interesting," he said. "What happened afterwards?" I racked my brains as I tried to recall the monster's attack. "Well...He threw his tendrils at me, and when I dodged, he grabbed me and tried to eat me," I said. "Anything else?" Renji asked. I racked my brains again. "Yeah," I replied. "He said something about smelling Soul Reaper blood." Toshiro and Renji's eyes widened, while my father's narrowed. "And what was the last thing you remember?" Toshiro asked. "Not sure really," I replied. "All I remember was screaming "no", a flash of light, and the monster releasing me. After that, I passed out."

Toshiro closed his eyes. "I see..."  My father turned to Renji. "Why are you asking such questions?" he asked. "Is there a point to them?" Renji nodded. "Saira, you'll have to come with us," he replied. I almost choked on my ramen. "Come with you?" I asked, confused. "Yes," Toshiro replied. "To the Soul Society." I gulped. "Sure," I replied shyly. "No," my father said, his eyes narrowed. "No way in Hell!" I gasped and turned to my father. "Why not, Dad?" I asked. "You can come too!" I turned to Toshiro and Renji. "Can't he?" Toshiro shook his head. "I'm afraid not," he replied. "Your father must remain here." I gasped and tears filled my eyes. "No!!!" I yelled, clinging to my father. "Daddy, please don't make me go!!! Please don't let them take me!!!" "This is ridiculous!" my father yelled. "You aren't taking my daughter away from me!" Renji sighed. "Kisuke.." he said. "We don't have a choice." "THE HELL YOU DON'T!!!" my father yelled, tightening his grip on me. "She's the only piece of Sala that I have! You're NOT taking her!!!" Toshiro opened his eyes and walked up to my father.

"Kisuke," he said. "I'm sorry. I understand that you don't want to lose your daughter, but I'm afraid you don't have a say in the matter." My father clutched me tighter. "Why is that?!" he asked. "We have orders from Captain Genryusai to bring back the source of that power earlier. You felt it just as I did, so you know how powerful Saira truly is. So unless you wish her to be eaten by a Hollow, she must go." I looked from Toshiro and Renji to my father. "Daddy?" I said, my eyes wide with fear. My father bowed his head. "Toshiro's right," he said in defeat. "You have to go with them. It's the only way you'll be safe." I gasped and clung tightly to his kimono, not wanting to let him go. "But Dad, I-!" I protested. "I know it's hard," he said, hugging me. "But it's the only way. You'll have to trust me on this." I nodded. "O...Okay," I said, sadness clouding my face. "Hey now!" my father said, ruffling my hair. "It's not like we'll never see each other again! We'll keep in touch somehow." I smiled and looked up at my father. "You promise?" He smiled and patted my shoulder. "Would I ever lie to my only baby girl?" I smiled and laughed. Then, Tessai brought me a bag full of my possessions and I took it.

"Arigato, Tessai-San," I said, smiling. Then, Tessai hugged me. "Take care of yourself, Miss Saira," he said. I smiled and nodded. "You'll come visit us sometime, won't you?" Ururu asked as she and Jinta walked in. I smiled and nodded. "You know I will, Ururu," I said. "Tch! I could care less if you come back!" Jinta said, jokingly. I smirked and noogied Jinta. "Agh! Hey, let go!" he yelled while struggling. I smiled and released him. "Don't slack off on your work and pick on Ururu just because I'm gone for a while, ya hear me?" I said. Jinta smirked. "No pormises!" he said. I laughed. Same old Jinta, I thought. "Ready to go, Saira?" Renji asked. I nodded and Toshiro tapped the ground with the hilt of his sword, creating a portal to our destination. "Goodbye everyone!" I said, waving. "I'll see you again as soon as I can, I promise!" I walked up next to Toshiro and Renji, ready to jump into the portal. "Wait!" my father yelled. Toshiro, Renji, and I turned. "What is it, Kisuke?" Renji asked. "Can I please have one final moment with my daughter?" my father asked. Toshiro nodded. "Make it quick."

My father pulled me aside and hugged me. "Be careful, allright?" I nodded. "And no matter what happens, know that I love you and that I'll be waiting for you. Understand?" my father said. I nodded and he kissed my forehead. "Goodbye, my daughter." I smiled, keeping the tears forming in my eyes at bay. "Bye Dad," I said. Then, Renji pulled us apart and walked me to the portal. "Now I'm ready," I said. "Let's go." Then, Renji, Toshiro, and I jumped into the portal.

Kisuke's P.O.V.:

I sighed as my daughter disappeared into the portal. There was a whooshing noise as the portal disappeared. I sunk into the chair nearest to me. "Are you allright, Mr. Urahara?" Tessai asked. I nodded. "I'm fine." "Do you miss her, Mr. Kisuke?" Ururu asked. I smiled. "Yes," I replied. "But somehow, I know she'll be fine." Ururu's eyes lit up. "Really, Mr. Kisuke?!" she asked happily. I nodded. "Now go to bed," I said. "With Saira gone, you and Jinta will have to work twice as hard." Ururu nodded and she and Jinta walked into their bedrooms. "Goodnight, Mr. Kisuke," she said. I smiled. "Night, Ururu," I called over my shoulder. Then, the doors shut and I sighed again. "Are you sure she'll be allright with them, Mr. Urahara?" Tessai asked. I nodded. "Of course. She is MY daughter after all," I said. "And seeing as being a Soul Reaper is in her blood, she shouldn't have a problem with the training that Genryusai assigns her." Plus she's too much like Sala to give up, I added mentally.

"I wouln't worry so much about her, Tessai," I said, smiling. "She'll be allright. She has two of the strongest Soul Reapers looking after her. Bear that in mind, Tessai." Tessai nodded and left the room. With Toshiro and Renji looking after her, she'll be well protected, I thought. But even with that, I still worry a bit for her safety. But that's just because I'm her father, I suppose. I know that Saira can take care of herself, no matter what the situation. I smiled as I walked to my bedroom. Good luck, my daughter...
