Father's Concern

As the meeting concluded, the team disbanded, each member heading back to their own home, burdened yet resolute in their shared mission. Marco turned to Thorn, his tone serious. "You need to return to the City Hall. The higher-ups still have matters to discuss regarding this mission."

Thorn nodded, saluting sharply. "Understood, Marco. I'll report in immediately." With that, he exited the office, leaving the atmosphere even more charged.

Kosu watched Thorn leave, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on him. Marco turned to Tetsuo, exchanging a few hushed words before preparing to depart himself. Kosu noticed the slight furrow in Tetsuo's brow, a sign of the concern that lay beneath his composed exterior.

As Marco exited, Kosu stood alone in the office, the silence amplifying the thoughts swirling in his mind. Tetsuo turned to him, the authoritative facade slipping away to reveal the fatherly concern he often masked in professional settings.

"Kosu," Tetsuo began, his voice softer, "I'd like to talk with you for a moment."

Kosu nodded, feeling a mix of apprehension and relief. He followed his father to a small side room where Tetsuo often brewed tea. The comforting aroma filled the air as Tetsuo prepared the leaves, his movements almost ritualistic.

"Sit," he instructed gently, gesturing to a chair. Kosu complied, watching as his father poured hot water over the tea leaves, the steam curling into the air.

"Things have become quite complicated," Tetsuo said, settling into his own chair. He took a moment to gather his thoughts before continuing. "I know this mission has weighed heavily on you."

Kosu leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table. "We lost Ken, and now Sakura's in danger. I feel like I should be doing more."

Tetsuo's gaze softened as he placed a warm cup of tea in front of his son. "You're doing everything you can. It's easy to feel helpless in situations like this, but you're not alone in this fight. The Guild stands with you, and so do I."

As Tetsuo poured the tea, his expression shifted, reflecting a mixture of concern and affection. "You know, Kosu," he began, his voice taking on a more contemplative tone, "Sakura has been with us for quite some time now. She's not just another member of the Guild; she's been my right hand in managing everything here."

Kosu looked up, intrigued. He had always respected Sakura but hadn't fully appreciated the depth of her role. "I know she's important, but I didn't realize how integral she was to you."

Tetsuo nodded, a fond smile touching his lips. "When I took on the responsibilities of Guild Master, I felt overwhelmed. The logistics, the negotiations with City Hall, and the day-to-day management—it was a lot to handle. Sakura stepped in and helped me navigate it all. She's just a few years older than you, but she has a sharp mind and an uncanny ability to see problems before they arise."

Kosu could see the pride in his father's eyes. "She really cares about the Guild and its members. It's not just about the job for her; it's personal. She's invested in our success and safety. I rely on her insights and judgment more than I can express."

Tetsuo paused, taking a sip of his tea, as if savoring a moment of reflection. "Over the years, we've built a strong partnership. She's not only my secretary; she feels like a daughter to me. I see her as a promising candidate for the next generation of the Guild's leadership. We've shared countless late nights strategizing and planning how to protect our people. I've come to trust her instincts almost as much as my own."

Kosu felt a pang of concern for his father's uncharacteristic vulnerability. "What are you saying, Dad?"

Tetsuo set his cup down, his expression serious. "I'm saying that losing Sakura would be a tremendous blow, not just for the Guild but for me personally. She's been a stabilizing force in my life, and I can't help but worry about what might happen to her in the hands of the Black Sun."

Kosu nodded, understanding the depth of his father's feelings. "We'll do everything we can to bring her back. I promise you that."

"I know you will," Tetsuo replied, a flicker of gratitude in his eyes. "But it's important you understand that this isn't just a mission for you. It's about saving someone who means a great deal to both of us. I want you to remember that as you move forward."

The weight of Tetsuo's words hung in the air, reinforcing Kosu's resolve. Sakura was more than a colleague; she was family, and he would fight with everything he had to ensure her safe return.

Taking a sip of the tea, Kosu felt the warmth spread through him, a small comfort amidst the turmoil. "I just can't shake the feeling that we're running out of time. The Black Sun won't hesitate to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals."

"True," Tetsuo replied, nodding thoughtfully. "But rushing in without a plan could lead to more losses. The relationship between the Guild and City Hall is one of mutual benefit, but we both know that too much interference from either side can complicate things. We need to be strategic."

Kosu sighed, frustration evident in his voice. "I know you're right, but I don't want to wait until it's too late. I need to rescue Sakura. She's counting on us."

"I understand," Tetsuo said, his voice firm yet gentle. "And I promise you, we will do everything in our power to bring her back safely. Just remember to take care of yourself in the process. You're not just a leader; you're my son, and I worry about you."

Kosu met his father's gaze, seeing the depth of concern etched in Tetsuo's features. "I appreciate it, Dad. I'll try to keep that in mind."

Tetsuo leaned back, taking a moment to enjoy the quiet. "Sometimes, it helps to talk things through. You carry a heavy burden as a leader, but you don't have to bear it alone."

As the two sat together, sharing the comforting silence punctuated by the soft clinking of cups, Kosu felt a renewed sense of strength. The bond between them, forged through love and shared purpose, would guide him through the challenges ahead.
