vi. monica 'the kook' geller
In a theatre, the gang, Alex and Jenny were in the audience, waiting for a play of Joey's to start.
"Ooh! Look! Look! Look! Look, there's Joey's picture! This is so exciting!" Rachel said, reading the programme.
"You can always spot someone who's never seen one of his plays before. Notice, no fear, no sense of impending doom..." Chandler said, looking behind him at the Thompson siblings, who were sitting either side of Ella and Jake.
"The exclamation point in the title scares me." Phoebe pointed out and Ella agreed, gesturing to the title on the front of the programme.
"Y'know, it's not just Freud, it's Freud!" The youngest Buffay exclaimed.
The lights then dimmed and Ross whispered, "Oh, shhh, shh. Magic is about to happen."
The lights went up on the stage and Joey, as Freud, was talking to a female patient.
"Vell, Eva, ve've done some excellent vork here, and I vould have to say, your pwoblem is qviiite clear," Joey said in a weird accent before he went into a song and dance number, "All you want is a dinkle, what you envy's a schwang, a thing through which you can dinkle, or play with, or simply let hang..."

Later that night, the the play had ended and everyone was applauding. As soon as the cast left, the gang all groaned and sat down heavily.
"God. I feel violated." Jenny groaned.
"Did anybody else feel they just wanted to peel the skin off their body, to have something else to do?" Alex asked the group.
"Yeah, trust me, after a while, you get used to it." Ella told him.
Staring at a woman across the room, Chandler got Ross' attention, saying, "Ross, ten o'clock."
"Is it? Feels like two." Ross groaned.
"No, ten o'clock." Chandler corrected.
"What?" Ross asked his friend.
Chandler sighed and gestured to explain, "There's a beautiful woman at eight, nine, ten o'clock!"
"Oh. Hel-lo!" Ross said, looking at the beautiful woman Chandler was gesturing to.
"She's amazing! She makes the women that I dream about look like short, fat, bald men!" Chandler exclaimed.
"Well, go over to her! She's not with anyone." Jenny encouraged.
"Oh yeah, and what would my opening line be? 'Excuse me. Blarrglarrghh.'" Chandler sarcastically asked.
"Oh, c'mon. She's a person, you can do it!" Rachel told him.
"Oh please, could she be more out of my league? Jake, back me up here." Chandler said to the boy.
"He could never get a woman like that in a million years." Jake said, looking at the woman.
"Thank you, buddy,. Chandler said.
"Oh, oh, but y'know, you always see these really beautiful women with these really nothing guys, you could be one of those guys." Phoebe told him.
"You could do that!" Monica cried.
"Y'think?" Chandler asked.
"Yeah!" The rest of the group nodded.
"Oh God, I can't believe I'm even considering this... I'm very very aware of my tongue..." Chandler muttered.
"C'mon! C'mon!" Ross quietly cheered on his friend.
"Here goes." Chandler said, walking over to the stranger.
As Chandler talked to the woman, Joey entered from backstage.
"Hey!"
"You're in a play!"
"I didn't know you could dance!"
"You had a beard!"
The group all answered at once.
"Whaddya think?" Joey asked the, and they all paused.
...
"Hey!"
"You're in a play!"
"I didn't know you could dance!"
"You had a beard!"
The group repeated.
"C'mon, you guys, it wasn't that bad. It was better than that thing I did with the trolls, at least you got to see my head." Joey enthusiastically told them.
"Saw your head. Saw your head," Everyone nodded as Chandler ran back over to them.
"She said yes!! She said yes!!" He cried before turning to Joey, "Awful play, man. Whoah," He then addressed the entire group, "Her name's Aurora, and she's Italian, and she pronounces my name 'Chand-lrr'. 'Chand-lrr'. I think I like it better that way," He smiled and he once again turned to Joey, "Oh, listen, the usher gave me this to give to you." He said, fishing a card out of his pocket and giving it to his friend.
"What is it?" Rachel asked.
"The Estelle Leonard Talent Agency. Wow, an agency left me its card! Maybe they wanna sign me!" Joey exclaimed, excitedly.
"Based on this play?" Phoebe asked and everyone gave her a look, "...Based on this play!"

"Please?"
"No,"
"Pleeeaaaase,"
"No,"
"Pleeeeeeeaaaaaase?"
"Oh my God, Jenny...Shut up." Ella said to her nagging friend - who was leaning against the lockers next to the girl's as she took her books out of it.
"But-"
"No!"
"What's going on?" Alex asked as he and Jake came up to the pair.
"Ella here, is being unreasonable." Jenny said, giving a look to the youngest Buffay.
"I am not." The blonde countered.
"Yes. Yes you are." Jenny told her.
"Am not!"
"Are too!"
"Wait, wait, wait," Jake silenced the two, "What are you two even fighting about?" He asked. Ella sighed before turning to Jake.
"Jenny wants me to try out for the Cheerleading Team with her." She said, making the Geller boy cringe.
"Ooh, Ella and exercise, not a good combination." He told the group.
"Oh, which reminds me, Jake, you said you'd come with me to football try-outs." Alex said.
"No," Jake groaned, "You're trying out, I'm pathetically watching on the side."
"Yes and I don't care. You're trying out with me. You're a great kicker!" Alex told his cousin, grabbing his wrist and yanking him down the hallway, leaving a laughing Jenny and Ella behind.

"Ooh, Rach, you might want to change the positioning of the green ottoman." Ella advised Rachel as she and Jake watched the woman clean her, Ella and Monica's apartment.
"No, it's fine." Rachel waved off.
"You have met Monica, right?" Jake asked her.
The door then opened and the rest of the group except Joey entered.
"Tah-daaah!" Rachel said, opening her arms wide.
"Are we greeting each other this way now?" Chandler asked, "'Cause I like that."
"Look! I cleaned! I did the windows, I did the floors... I even used all the attachments on the vacuum, except that little round one with the bristles, I don't know what that's for." Rachel exclaimed.
"Oh yeah, nobody knows. And we're not supposed to ask." Ross told her.
"Well, whaddya think?" Rachel asked the group.
"Very clean!"
"It looks great!"
"Terrific!"
The group all praised.
"...Oh! I-I see you moved the green ottoman." Monica noticed.
"Uh-oh..." The group muttered.
"Told you." Ella said to Rachel.
"How-how did that happen?" Monica asked.
"I dunno.. I-I thought it looked better there. And I- and also, it's an extra seat around the coffee table." Rachel said.
"Yeah, yeah, it's interesting.. but y'know what? Just for fun, let's see what it looked like in the old spot," Monica said, moving the green ottoman, "Alright, just to compare. Let's see. Well, it looks good there too. Let's just leave it there for a while." She told Rachel.
"I can't believe you tried to move the green ottoman." Jake said to Rachel.
"Thank God you didn't try to fan out the magazines. I mean, she'll scratch your eyes right out." Ross exclaimed.
"You guys, I am not that bad!" The woman in question defended herself.
"Yeah, you are, Monica. Remember when I lived with you? You were like, a little, y'know...," Phoebe trailed off and Ella finished for her.
"Ree! Ree! Ree! Ree!" The teen imitated from Psycho.
"That is so unfair!" Monica exclaimed.
"Oh c'mon! When we were kids, yours was the only Raggedy Ann doll that wasn't raggedy!" Ross told her.
"Okay, so I'm responsible, I'm organised. But hey, I can be a kook." Monica said, sitting down.
"Alright, you madcap gal. Try to imagine this. The phone bill arrives, but you don't pay it right away." Ross said.
"Why not?" Monica asked, growing frightened.
"Because you're a kook!" Jake said.
"Instead you wait until they send you a notice." Ross continued.
"I could do that." Monica muttered.
"Okay, uh, you let me go grocery shopping, and I buy laundry detergent, but it's not the one with the easy-pour spout," Rachel said.
"Why would someone do that?! ...One might wonder," Monica corrected herself.
"Someone's left a glass on the coffee table. There's no coaster. It's a cold drink, it's a hot day. Little beads of condensation are inching their way closer and closer to the surface of the wood..." Chandler tortured before getting cut off by Monica.
"STOP IT!! ...Oh my God. It's true! Who am I?" The middle Geller cried.
"Monica?" Ross started.
"You're Mom." Jake finished, making the woman gasp.
"Ree! Ree! Ree! Ree! Ree!" Phoebe and Ella chorused.
Joey then entered, talking on the phone, focusing the attention onto him.
"Uh huh.. uh huh... oh my God! Okay! Okay, I'll be there!" He said, hanging up and turning to the rest of the group, "That was my agent," He then tossed and caught the phone, "My agent has just gotten me a job...in the new Al Pacino movie!" He exclaimed.
"Oh my God!"
"Whoah!"
The group gasped.
"Well, what's the part?" Monica asked him.
"Can you believe this?" Joey asked, avoiding the question, "Al Pacino! This guy's the reason I became an actor! "I'm out of order? Pfeeeh. You're out of order! This whole courtroom's out of order!"" He cried.
"Seriously, what-what's the part?" Phoebe asked.
"'Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!'" Joey continued to imitate.
"C'mon, seriously, Joey, what's the part?" Ross asked.
"...I'm his." Joey then mumbled something.
"..You're, you're 'mah mah mah' what?" Rachel asked.
"...I'm his butt double. 'Kay? I play Al Pacino's butt. Alright? He goes into the shower, and then- I'm his butt." Joey said.
"Oh my God," Monica said, trying not to laugh.
"C'mon, you guys. This is a real movie, and Al Pacino's in it, and that's big!" Joey exclaimed.
"Oh no, it's terrific, it's... it's... y'know, you deserve this, after all your years of struggling, you've finally been able to crack your way into showbusiness." Chandler said, making the others all stifle a laugh.
"What time does filming start?" Jake chuckled, "The crack of dawn?"
"Okay, okay, fine! Make jokes, I don't care! This is a big break for me!" Joey said.
"You're right, you're right, it is," Ross said, "...So you gonna invite us all to the big opening?"
***
"C'mon, we're roommates!" Then screaming was the first thing Ella heard the next morning as she woke up, "My eyes!! My eyes!!" Ella realised that it was the voice of Chandler and the girl groaned as she got herself out of bed and opened the door to the living room, the same time as Rachel did.
"Who is being loud?" The brunette asked.
"Oh, that would be Monica." Chandler answered, making the teenager roll her eyes as someone knocked on the door, causing everyone present in the room look at each other, confused, and Monica walked to the door and tentatively answer it.
"Hey!" Jenny and Alex smiled as they walked right in, the girl in a red and white Cheer outfit and the boy in a red varsity jacket.
"Oh!" The others said, looking at each other in understanding.
"What?" Jenny asked, confused.
"Oh, it's nothing," Ella said, walking over to the pair, "It's just that all of our friends are complete pigs and would never knock." She shrugged and the Thompson siblings nodded, still slightly confused.
"Hey, do you know where Jake is?" Alex asked the group and Ella pointed to the apartment across from her and her friend's.
"In there, on the couch," She told him, gesturing to the apartment across the hall, "The door's open, but, good luck getting him up." The blonde added.
"Thanks." Alex said, exiting the apartment as Jenny turned to the youngest Buffay.
"Come on." She said, grabbing the girl's wrist and dragging her into her room.
"Okay, ow. Ella muttered as Jenny closed her bedroom door.
"Nice room." Jenny remarked, looking around the rather small blue-green room with many small stacks of books scattered around the small space.
"Thanks." Ella said and Jenny turned around to look at the girl, hands on hips.
"Alright," She said, "Where is it?"
"Where is what?" Ella asked.
"Your Cheer uniform." Jenny replied and Ella let out a groan.
"Inside of my wardrobe door." She mumbled and the Thompson twin got the required items of clothing out of the wardrobe and laid them out on the girl's bed.
"You better be ready in twenty minutes, or I swear I will take that uniform and shove you inside it with my bare hands." She ordered and Ella rapidly nodded, slightly scared.
***
Later that day, in Monica, Rachel and Ella's apartment, Jake and Ross were trying to comfort Chandler as the rest of the group, including Alex and Jenny were waiting for Joey to turn up.
"Look at it this way: you dumped her. Right?" Jake told him before Ross chimed in.
"I mean, this woman was unbelievably sexy, and beautiful, intelligent, unattainable... Tell me why you did this again?" He asked, earning a slap up the head from Jenny - who, along with the other three teenagers - was sitting, scattered around the living room floor.
The door then opened and Joey entered.
"Hey!" Everyone greeted him.
"Hey, wait wait, aren't you the guy that plays the butt in the new Al Pacino movie?" Monica giddily asked.
"Nope." Joey shook his head, making everyone look around at each other, confused.
"No? What happened, big guy?" Ross asked, making Chandler turn to him with an unimpressed look.
"'Big guy'?" He asked.
"It felt like a 'big guy' moment," Ross shrugged.
"I got fired." Joey revealed.
"Oh!" All of his friends gasped.
"Yeah, they said I acted too much with it. I told everybody about this! Now everybody's gonna go to the theatre, expecting to see me, and..." Joey sighed, trailing off.
"Oh, Joey, you know what, no-one is gonna be able to tell." Ella told him.
"My mom will." The Italian told her.
"Something so sweet and...disturbing about that." Chandler commented.
"Y'know, I've done nothing but crappy plays for six years. And I finally get my shot, and I blow it!" Joey exclaimed.
"Maybe this wasn't your shot," Jenny told him.
"Yeah, I mean... I think when it's your shot, y'know, you-you know it's your shot." Alex agreed.
"Exactly." Ella nodded, pointing slightly at Alex.
"Did it... feel like your shot..?" Jake asked.
"Hard to tell, I was naked." Joey answered.
"No, I don't think this was your shot." Phoebe shook her head, "I mean, I don't even think you just get one shot. I really believe big things are gonna happen for you, I do!" She exclaimed.
"You've gotta just keep thinking about the day that some kid is gonna run up to his friends and go 'I got the part! I got the part! I'm gonna be Joey Tribbiani ass!'." Ella added, smiling.
"Yeah? That's so nice!" Joey exclaimed as Ella got up and he hugged the two siblings as Ross and Chandler looked at each other and hugged as well.
"I'm sorry, Joey. I'm gonna go to bed, guys." Monica said, getting up.
"Night," Everyone chorused.
"Uh, Mon, you-you gonna leave your shoes out here?" Rachel asked the Geller after noticing the shoes the woman had left out on the floor.
"Uh-huh!" Monica determinedly nodded.
"Really? Just casually strewn about in that reckless haphazard manner?" Rachel asked again.
"Doesn't matter, I'll get 'em tomorrow. Or not. Whenever." Monica said, before going into her room.
"She is a kook," Ross said, earning nods of agreement.
