Special Chapter.... Yes!!!! Introducing.....

~𝚉𝚊𝚛𝚊~

Enugu was no doubt, a place of sweet interest. The city was bustling and yet so calm. The air blew rapidly, yet so soothing. It gave me that innermost peace and calmness I sought for in a very long time. No one knew what I was going through.

Absolutely no one! Not even Ajay.

My relationship with Frank was crumbling, I could feel it but heck, I loved him with my whole heart. I knew he was cheating, though I had not officially caught him, I knew it! I could feel it. But I just wanted to play dumb and live in wearisome denial. He was mine! He had to be mine!

The sound of the horn of Kenechukwu's car brought me out of my thoughts. I was sitted on a cemented bench just outside Ajay's gate patiently waiting for him. He got out of the car and strolled towards me.

"Hey Zara..." He greeted, stretching his hand for a handshake. I responded immediately to that taking his features in. He wore a simple short sleeved vintage shirt with a black jean and black sneakers. His hair was well trimmed in the afro style and his beards were a bit scanty. A set of ear plugs were hung on one of his belt hook and a glistening silver wrist watch wrapped around his left wrist. His nose was big and pointed but it fitted his oval face perfectly. His eyes.....

"Okay ma'am, that should be enough checking out for the night." He smirked, bringing my thoughts back to the present. I smiled in response "Where's Ajay?" He asked looking around

"Her mum asked her to stay behind and help select the asoebi we would be wearing for the wedding." I answered courtly.

"Ohh... Okay. Let's go then." He smiled lightly. I could notice the disappointment in his eyes and voice. I nodded and we got into the car and drove off.

"You like Ajay, right?" I asked after a while of long silent driving. The question caught him off guard because he blinked nervously.

He cleared his throat, "Well... I.. I.. I really can't say.."

I laughed, "No need for all these stammering, it's very obvious ni. You needed to see your face when I told you she wasn't coming."

"Am I that obvious?" I nodded and he smiled. "Actually, I've liked her for a very long time now, we were childhood friends because of how close our mothers were. And I'm not sure of the 'childhood friends' part tho' because Amara never warmed up to me. She didn't like me."

I threw my head back in laughter as I remembered the popular legend Ajay always yapped about "Are you the guy that asked her out with lemon grass?"

"Jesus Christ!" He mumbled shyly, laughing quietly, "Ajay has finished me! She really told you that?"

"Ahhh, it's a legend ooo. Ajay said it was her first and worst of all."

He face palmed, "I was little for crying out loud! I had no idea!" He explained

"You were little at fourteen? Just say the truth now, you were 'omo-get-inside'!" I mocked, laughing loudly.

"Okayy!! Can we not talk about the most embarrassing day of my life and just enjoy ourselves?"

"Omogei.." I teased, nudging him lightly on his shoulders. He looked at me in amazement for sometime.

"Don't call me that." He laughed, shaking his head. But trust me, that was his new name.

The tour was made worth every single second of my time by Ken. From the beautiful scenery to spectacular amusement parks like the Oakland park and the New Berries park. I got to eat cotton candy for the first time in my life. And trust me, it was totally worth the hype. I also got to enjoy a lot of rides like the Zampala Roller Coaster, Coffer Cup, Zuma Grill and the Race Coaster. Kenechukwu didn't bother riding any. He only did the perfect job of driving me and getting me every single thing I requested for.

After playing around in the park, we drove off to De Pines Bar and Lounge to chill and talk and I also wanted to get some Abacha and Barbecued Fish.

"This Abacha is totally worth the hype!" I moaned, as I allowed the blast of flavors explode in my mouth.

"No! Enugu is totally worth the hype." Ken corrected, taking a piece of roasted fish with a fork, into his mouth.

I hissed "Ehh look at you forming Americana for me." I eye balled him, laying emphasis on the fork in his hands. Kenechukwu laughed, realizing why I started with the attitude again.

"Calm down!" He pointed at the fork I was using to eat my Abacha, smirking "You're also using a fork. What's so 'Americana' about it?"

I ignored him, taking the last scoop of Abacha into my mouth and munching audibly. He looked at me like he was trying to figure out the message I was trying to pass. Dropping my fork, I picked up the huge goat meat with my hand and took a big bite from it, chewing it slowly and carefully, allowing my tongue to taste all the possible flavours.

"Mhmmm.." I moaned with my eyes closed, licking away the oil on my lips "This is how to chop life, not that rubbish you're doing there."

Kenny laughed, "You're drama on your own, I swear." He said still using his fork to pick on the fish. I was irked. Some fish particles were practically wasting away.

"Kenny, it's like you want us to fight. I can clearly see it." I hissed, glaring at him. But he decided to continue with his Americana trash. I quickly finished my meat, washed and cleaned my hands, stood up and left him there. Not before dropping a wad of one thousand naira notes on the table.

"Zara wait..." Kenny shouted, running towards me. I totally ignored him and continued walking to where the car was parked. My plan wasn't to talk to him but I ended up doing just that because he wouldn't unlock the car plus I had no idea on how to return to Ajay's house.

"Zara, you're ignoring me because I used a fork to eat barbecued fish, really?" Kenny asked, as we got closer to Ajay's house. The drive had been weirdly silent through out.

I turned my head towards the window, staring at the houses I could see with so much intensity. I honestly didn't know why I was upset, I just was. And the dude was going to beg me and apologize accordingly!

"Zara..." He called again and I ignored him... Again.

We finally got to Ajay's house and he parked just in front of the gate. I quickly gathered my things, opened the door and stepped out of the car, expecting him to call me again or something.

But I was terribly disappointed! He asked me to help him close the door and he zoomed off almost immediately. Like, who does that?

Annoyed, I walked into the house and went straight to Ajay's room.

"What's doing this one?" Ajay asked, after observing my sour mood for a minute. I ignored her too, struggling to untie the lace of my sneakers.

"Haaa... Thank God mummy didn't even let me go. Just look at how this one is almost crying." Ajay mumbled

"Wo, Ajay warn that your friend Kenechukwu o!" I bursted out, obviously annoyed

"Haa.... What did he do?" Ajay asked, surprise evident in her voice.

I found myself thinking hard. What was I supposed to say he did? "Just warn him o, that's my own." I said, after several seconds of contemplation.

Ajay stared at me, amused at my sudden outburst.

"Ehehhh let me see the asoebi you picked." I said, returning to my normal jovial self.

"I gave it to the tailor that came this evening na. You know we need it get it sewn before Saturday. And.. she said you should send your desired style to her WhatsApp."

"Ohhh.... Oya come and show me the style you're sewing, maybe we'll just twin that day if I like it." I said, dropping myself on the bed beside Ajay. She smiled and brought her phone to show me the style but a call came in disrupting the plans.

Ajay looked at me with pleading eyes. I rolled my eyes, scoffing at her display. She was surely gonna chose him over me. "It's now that you want to show me something that this ode is calling you." I hissed, taking a comfortable space on the bed to sleep.

Ajay giggled excitedly, throwing me 'fake' air kisses.

'A SLY WITH A DIFFERENCE!' I thought hissing loudly as she picked up the phone, squealing like an excited teenager,

"Hey baby!!!"
