It's my birthday!
~Ajay

~𝚃𝚑𝚒𝚛𝚍 𝙿𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚘𝚗~

It's been seven months since the heart breaking incidence and Ajay still had not heard from Obinna. She had been using other random men she could get to try get her mind off Obinna. But the pain was still carved deep in her heart. She and Fejiro continued their employer-employee relationship, nothing extra except their greetings were now friendlier.

Zara finally caught Frank cheating for real and called it quits with him. But unlike Ajay, she already occupied her mind with a certain person- Kenny. He had been the male bestfriend she had ever wanted and he was indeed taking things at the pace Zara wanted.

Zara and Ajay went to the mall to do a birthday shoe and bag shopping for Ajay whose twenty-fifth birthday was in about thirty-four hours. Ajay decided to make it very grand for this year. She already hired an event planner who was in charge of the whole party preparation. The birthday was strictly on invitation and Ajay made an extensive guest list and mainly celebrities and few of her friends were invited.

"Ajay, what do you think of this one?" Zara asked, raising a golden coloured stiletto heels, designed with golden coloured glitter stones. Ajay turned around and walked towards Zara to get a better view of the shoe.

"Oh my God! Zara, this is really beautiful!" Ajay smiled

"And it'll fit all the clothes you're wearing tomorrow," Zara added

"You're just using style to play cocky," Ajay rolled her eyes.

"Cocky ko, cocktail ni... Abegi put your leg, let's see wether the shoe will fit or wether we have to start the whole shoe search again."

Ajay hissed snatching the shoe away from Zara's possession. She wore it and when it fit perfectly, she smiled, "I'm definitely taking this one."

They also got a matching purse and a set of expensive earrings before they made to leave.

"Best friend.." Ajay drawled when they got to the exit of the mall and Zara was yet to buy another stuff. "Won't you get me a gift?" Ajay pursed her lips, batting her eyelashes.

Zara laughed, "M-U square! Please how old are you again?" Zara asked with a mock-laced tone.

Ajay hissed, "So you won't buy me any gift?"

"Don't worry, you'll be shocked." That was all she said before she winked and walked off, faster than usual.

"Zara, wait! You putting me in suspense na," Ajay whined, almost running to meet up with Zara but then she was interrupted by her known ringing tone. It was her mum calling. She had not spoken to her mum since Oluchi's wedding, even though she had received several missed calls from her.

"Mama billionaire.." Ajay hailed, all smiles

"Amarachukwunna, so you're now ignoring me, okwa ya?" Her mum asked, obviously annoyed.

"Mummy, calm down now. You know I've been busy...."

"Ehehhh! I can see how busy you are posting naked pictures online on that your Instagram page. How do you expect a man to even marry you?"

Ajay's eyes almost popped out of their sockets, "Jesus Christ! Mummy stop! I didn't snap any naked pictures now."

"Keep telling that to yourself." She mumbled. "Anyways, I just called to tell you that there's this lace wrapper mama Ejike bought from Dubai..." Ajay rolled her eyes, she definitely knew what her mum was up to. It just had to boil down to the fact that Ajay's father had refused to buy the wrapper for her. Ajay walked to her car and sat comfortably in the driver's seat, noticing that Zara had already left her. "....Ada m if you see this wrapper ehh, very classy with stones everywhere, the colour is even a perfect match for my skin colour and......"

"Mummy don't worry, I'll convince daddy to get it for you." Ajay cut her obviously tired of her rants. "How much is this wrapper sef?"

"It's just three hundred thousand naira o."

"Ahhh... Mummy!"

Ajay's mum hissed, "Abeg don't mummy me o. Just help me ask him. I'll call you on Friday." She said and ended the call immediately. Ajay laughed, shaking her head at her mum's childish antics. Sighing, she dropped her phone, started her car and drove off.

She had a party to prepare for!

*******
It was Friday, the 22nd of June and Ajay's long awaited birthday. From the early hours of the morning of that Friday, Ajay received a lot of calls, text messages, social media posts and a lot of comments under her post wishing her a happy birthday. Her parents were not excluded. Ajay spent the day having several photoshoot sessions and congratulatory interviews. Well, her manager, Zara, claimed she had to attend those.

The birthday bash was slated for 8pm that evening. The party planner did a wonderful job in securing a nice location for the party at Eko Hotels and Suites. The large hall was well lit and decorated. There were round tables with each invitee's name card placed on them. The low stage was very large and also well decorated with Ajay's pictures properly displayed on the wall and letter balloons arranged to firm the words 'HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY AJAY'. Anyone who saw it would definitely be wowed.

Ajay sat comfortably in one of the hotel room as Zara dolled her up. She blatantly refused to hire a make-up artist.

"Why would I want to hire a stranger to do my makeup when my best friend is skilled in that area?" She asked with a tone of finality when Zara tried opposing her decision. Zara knew better than to argue further.

Zara quickly applied finishing touches to Ajay's make up and helped her get dressed. Guests were already coming and loud music could be heard echoing from the party hall. The MC, who was one of the popular Nigerian comedians, mounted the stage. He started with so many jokes and the guests were really amused, laughing their lives out. Some almost fell off their seats due to the laughter.

"Okay! Ladies and gentlemen, let's put our hands together as the hottest, most fascinating, most popular vlogger and content creator A.K.A Amarachi Jessica Okpara; A.K.A Ajay Okpara, makes her way into the auditorium. Let's be on our feet as we give it up for the CELEBRANT!" The MC announced, making sure to stress the celebrant.

The doors opened to reveal stunning Ajay clad in a red jumpsuit that had little fur-like extensions, a bone straight wig which adorned her head and the golden shoe she obtained from the mall. She looked totally stunning as she danced in to 'Big thug boys' by AV which was blasting from the speakers, making her first appearance.

The crowd cheered as she danced and lots of currencies were thrown at her by those who came to dance with her. Ajay was a beautiful lady and she didn't hesitate to show it off to the world. Soon Ajay went round greeting some of her guests, at least the much she could with Zara by her side before retiring to the seat preserved for she and Zara kept in the forefront of the hall.

The birthday party began in essence with several dance presentations, music performances, comedy and a lot of fun games which carried everyone along.

"Ajay, who is your boyfriend?" The MC asked Ajay as he wanted to start another game.

Ajay cleared her throat, biting shyly on her lower lip, "Well, I'm very much...." She hesitated for sometime and took in a deep breath, "I am honestly very much single."

The MC let out a chuckle, "Our birthday girl is single, huh?" He turned to the audience, "Why don't we get her one tonight as a birthday gift? E no go bad o, abi?"

"Noooo!"

"E go choke!"

"Never!" were some of the responses that echoed from the crowd. The MC smiled at their reaction.

"So, before I begin this special exercise, I'll be giving those side crushers an opportunity to talk their mind before it's too late. If you know you're in love with Ajay, asin you don dey die for am tey tey, but you dey fear to talk, hands up."

Everywhere became a little rowdy as the crowd laughed and looked round to see if there'll be any secret admirer. After some time, no hands were up.

"Una dey shy?" The MC question and everyone laughed. "Okay o. Let's leave the decision to the birthday girl. Abeg if you dey wear wedding ring, no comot am o, because I no trust una." (If you're wearing a wedding ring, please don't remove it. I don't trust you men.)

Turning to Ajay, "So Ajay, I want you to go round this hall and pick any man wey enter your eye. As long as he doesn't have a ring on his finger, you ca....."

"Someone is raising his hand."

"There's a hand here." Some people from the crowd screamed out, cutting the MC short when they noticed a fine young man putting up his hand.

"Eiii! E don happen! One secret admirer wants to confess." The MC announced. This got heads turning towards the young man. Ajay was not left out. She almost stood up from her seat to get a better view of the person out of curiosity. "My honourable," the MC saluted the young man, "the floor is yours."

The young man stood up and made his way towards the stage with a confident smile on his face. But this however, seemed to have awakened some sort of confusion in the crowd. Murmurings could be heard from every corner of the hall.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT BASTARD DOING HERE?'

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I was finally able to update. Jeeezzzz, these days have been so rainy🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶

For those that didn't get, MC means Master of Ceremony and it is just equivalent to the host of any ceremony.
