THIRTY-THREE

TW: MENTIONS OF BLOOD

☀︎︎𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗧𝗘𝗥 THIRTY-THREE☀︎︎
  "Thank you for everything."
———————————————

Ji-Hye went to the bathroom straight away once she got her suit handed to her.  Her body felt like it weakened and she couldn't do that much movement.  Her body felt like it could collapse any moment, and she couldn't do anything about it.

Tears formed in her eyes when she lifted her shirt up.  The glass cut right through her stitches, opening them up and a lot of blood came out of her wound.  She ripped apart her shirt, using it like a cloth and put water on it.  She closed her eyes when her wound began to sting.  She sniffed and tied it around her.

Blood filled all over in the space she was standing on.  Blood on the sink, on her hands, on her body, and on the ground.  Ji-Hye wanted to throw up on the site of all this bloodiness but after seeing more than 200 people die, she couldn't throw up.  She sighed and took a deep breath, closing her eyes and tried to relax a bit.

"You can't give up, you can do this!" Ji-Hye thought to herself. "I can do this."  She said loudly and began to clean up the mess she made.

After she did, she opened the well decorated box.  It was a suit with her number beside it.  Ji-Hye was confused as to why they were wearing these suits.  After all this time , why change the uniform now?

-

"We have prepared this feast as a token of gratitude for this sacrifice and effort you finalists have made.  We're certain you'll give us a splendid performance in the final game.  Please enjoy the feast without any concerns." The mask-man said

All of the other players dig into their food, hungrily. Ji-Hye looked around and held onto her waist.  They were sitting around a square table and with food and wine around them, with classical music playing.  Ji-Hye looked at both Sang-Woo and Gi-Hun eat and drink everything at once.  Then she looked down at her plate, seeing she had not touched anything of the food in front of her.

Her hand shook as she put little effort into picking up the glass of wine.  The taste of wine made her feel alive for a moment, she closed her eyes as it refreshed her.  Ji-Hye carefully placed the glass down and grabbed the knife.  She tried cutting the steak but her hands couldn't stop shaking, as well as her body.  She struggled just by trying to eat and cut the steak.

Once she managed to cut off a piece, she lifted it up to her lips and gagged as she ate it.  The steak wasn't cooked correctly and Ji-Hye was always picky on how her food was cooked.  She lifted her head up and saw that Gi-Hun was looking at her.  He saw that her lips and face were turning pale, her body looked weak, and she cut a few cuts around her face.  Ji-Hye just sent him a reassuring smile, signaling that she was okay and quickly looked down.  He didn't believe for one second that she was okay.

-

After the feast, the guards picked up their food and Ji-Hye's plate was still filled with food.  The guards picked up everything but left the knife with the players.  It wasn't a coincidence that they purposely left it there, it was for the next game, the last game.  The game in which one the players will win and take home a handsome amount of cash.  It will be a game of killing each other.

Ji-Hye slowly walked over to an empty bed until Gi-Hun stepped in front of her, stopping her tracks.

  "Are you okay?" He asked

  "I'm fine, Gi-Hun, don't worry."

"I've known you for many years, I don't believe you.  You need help."

"And what are you gonna do to help me? I'm going to die either way." Ji-Hye snapped but quickly regretted it after.  She sighed and took a deep breath.  "I'm sorry, didn't mean to say that so roughly.  It's just... just... thank you for everything."

Gi-Hun looked at her, Ji-Hye bit her lip and looked down.  She didn't want to leave him or Sang-Woo but she felt like she would collapse any moment.  She had lost a lot of blood and this is a death game, the game continues when a person dies.  It adds more money to the piggy bank.

"Thank you for being a great friend even if I was shitty." Ji-Hye's lips trembled.  "I hope you take care, Gi-Hun." Gi-Hun pulled her into a hug, Ji-Hye began to sob, hugging him back.

"Ji-Hye." He repeated and rubbed her back.

"Promise me one thing..." Ji-Hye pulled away from his hug and looked up to him.  "Pr...promise me that you and Sang-Woo will look out for each other.  You two will need each other if you both come out alive."

"You can make it, Ji-Hye.  Y-you just have to survive one more game." Tears began to form in Gi-Hun's eyes and he shook his head.  "You can make it."

"I can't make it." She whispered.  "I can't, it's too much blood loss."

"I'm not the one you should say your last goodbye to then." Gi-Hun turned his head toward where Sang-Woo was at and turned back to her.  "He needs to know."  Ji-Hye nodded.

"Goodbye, Gi-Hun." She wiped her tears and smiled at him, and held on to her waist and limped over to Sang-Woo.  As she was limping, she was doing too much force which made the wound spread out more.  She felt weak.

"Sang-Woo." Ji-Hye breathed out, she almost fell until Sang-Woo got up and caught her.  Sang-Woo looked down at her worried.  "Sang-Woo..."

"Ji-Hye? What's going on?" He touched her forehead, it was warm.  "You're burning up, what happened?"

"I need to... to sit down."

"Okay, okay." Sang-Woo picked her up, heading to the bed and sat down with Ji-Hye laying down on top of him.  "Ji-Hye?"

Ji-Hye gripped Sang-Woo,  embracing him in a tight hug.  She began to cry again.  Sang-Woo was taken back by Ji-Hye actions but hugged her back.  He stroked her hair whilst she was crying.

  "I'm sorry." She sobbed

  "What are you sorry about?"

  "I broke our promise, again."

  "What do you mean? Ji-Hye."

"My snitches, they-they opened up." Ji-Hye looked up to him, Sang-Woo paused for a moment.  "I'm sorry."

"Th-there's gotta be some way.  That's gotta be a way to fix this."

"You can't... I'm loosing a lot of blood." Ji-Hye gulped.  "There's nothing we can do." Tears began to form in Sang-Woo's eyes and shook his head.  "Hey, Hey." Ji-Hye grasped his face in her hands and turned his face towards her.  "It'll be okay."

"It won't be okay, I'm losing you again.  I can't handle going through that misery again." Tears rolled down his eyes.

"It was nice to see you again, for one last time."

"You can't leave.  We have to make it out together."

"Use the money wisely, Sang-Woo.  Pay off your debuts, visit your mom and tell her the truth, she'll understand everything.  Don't be ashamed."

"I can't do it without you."

"You're gonna have to let me go, just promise me."  Sang-Woo shook his head.  "Promise me."

Sang-Woo closed his eyes and gulped.  He took a deep breath and looked down at her, giving her one last kiss.  Sang-Woo held her face closer to her as they kissed.  Ji-Hye gave him one last kiss before she pulled away."

"Well... Cho Sang-Woo.  I...I guess this is the end of our story." Ji-Hye sniffed, her lips and face turned more pale.  She looked down at her waist and saw that more blood came out, it's like she lost all of her blood.  Her eyes began to close a bit and she felt tired.

"I love you, I will always love you."

"I'll always love you too...."  Ji-Hye's eyes closed.  Sang-Woo began to sob, he caressed her face as he cried.

"No, Ji-Hye!" He yelled in desperation and shook her lifeless body.  "Ji-Hye, please..." he hugged her and cried.  "Ji-Hye...."
