"You should've known something was happening."
Late 2000s
————————————————
Sang-woo took advantage of his free time to go visit Ji-hye. He tried calling her but the call was always sent to voicemail. He just decided to go since she won't probably answer at all and it'll be better to talk in person instead of technology.
Sang-woo walked up the stairs, heading to Ji-hye's apartment. He took a deep breath and thought about what to say once she opened the door. He cleared his throat and knocked on the door without thinking twice. Sang-woo stood there for a couple of minutes before Ji-hye opened the door. Her eyes widened as she saw Sang-woo standing there, she looked embarrassed because she wasn't dressed appropriately.
"Sang-woo? I did not expect to see you here." She chuckled nervously "But uh, right now really isn't a great time so if you could come back later." Ji-hye was almost closing the door until Sang-woo pushed it back. He wasn't going to let her ignore him again.
"Ji-hye, we really need to talk. We're not going to ignore this conversation forever."
"You should really come back another time. My apartment is a mess right now."
"Ji-hye."
"Fine." Ji-hye welcomed Sang-woo in, she quickly went over to her counter and threw away the trash that was just sitting there. "Well uh, welcome to my place I guess. Do you want anything to drink? Or eat or anythi-"
"I'm fine, thank you." Sang-woo sat down on a stool, Ji-hye just nodded and looked around her apartment, it felt weird that they had finally talked almost after half a year. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I've just been busy working since I'm sending money over to my family in Yongin for the holidays. You?"
"Yeah, I've been working also."
"That's good."
"You know, you have been missing a lot these past days, it's like you're a ghost."
"I know, it's just.... I'm really not ready to go back? I don't know, I just want mine and Joon-ho's breakup to cool down a bit before people start to assume things."
"It's a little late for that, some of Joon-ho's friends approached me, saying, I was the fault of yours and Joon-ho's break up." Ji-hye just sighed
"I guess it's just a tradition to have rumors about us." Ji-hye went over and sat beside Sang-woo.
"Eh, we at least get something out of it."
"I guess, but others should know that I broke up with him since I have a busy schedule and a busy mind."
"Really? Because I don't think Joon-ho took it as that matter if his friends started accusing me of your breakup with him."
"They don't know anything. They just hear something and make it seem as if that's the cause of a problem." Ji-hye bit the inside of her cheek. "I really don't understand why Joon-ho is making a big deal out of this."
"Well there has to be a reason why it's a big deal."
"Cho-hee did tell him about the situation that happened, so he blamed that for the cause of our breakup which wasn't the reason."
"Hm. Not surprised about that." Sang-woo turned a little to face her. "Then enlighten me, What was the real reason for your breakup?"
"Like I said, I just have a lot of things in mind and to do."
"Are you sure?" Sang-woo studied her movements and expressions. "You're lying."
"Why does everyone keep on saying that? Joon-ho, Cho-hee, Gi-hun, my grandparents, your mother and now you."
"Because in some situations you are a horrible liar, like you're doing right now."
"Welp."
"Ji-hye, you can tell me, I won't judge you."
Ji-hye just put her head down, she couldn't escape what she was feeling and the reason why she ended things with Joon-ho. Mostly, she didn't want to admit to herself that Sang-woo was the reason she did break up with Joon-ho, he even knew that Sang-woo was partly involved.
"Ji-hye?" Sang-woo lifted her head up, making sure she was okay. Ji-hye's chin rested on Sang-woo's hand, they both just looked at each other. It felt like their eyes were talking to each other and they understood what they were saying.
"The reason me and Joon-ho broke up is because I have someone else in mind."
-
"I literally admitted it to his face, I don't know what to do." Ji-hye sighed in frustration. Gi-hun smiled proudly . Ji-hye needed someone to talk to, someone other than Sang-woo to give her advice. So she decided to meet up with Gi-hun to walk and talk.
"So you do like Sang-woo?"
"It's complica- Gi-hun, I said we aren't talking about Sang-woo."
"I know but, you two have feelings for each other, it's obvious. I'm not letting that slide."
"But I should be crying over a breakup right now, not thinking about another guy."
"No offense, you should've seen you and Joon-ho breaking up the moment you met Sang-woo. He's definitely your type. Smart, tall, handsome, a gentleman."
"Gi-hun, you're supposed to be helping me, not excusing me for breaking someone's heart and acting heartless about it." Ji-hye complained
"I know, I know, but the moment Sang-woo let you stay over at his place that time it was raining you should've known something was happening."
"I didn't even think about having feelings for him at that time."
"It always happens, no feelings at first but the more you two hang out the bigger that connection is going to grow. Then maybe you two will date, get married, have kids, have the best future and grow old toge-."
"Gi-hun!" Ji-hye whined
"Sorry, sorry, I lost track."
AUTHOR- HEY EVERYONE!!
I say that Gi-hun definitely wants his two besties to get together, he's the captain of the ship.
Ji-hye and Sang-woo better get those feelings sorted out, we need Jihyangwoo desperately. 😒
