Chapter 25: Maria

Another school day in November, the weather is getting colder than ever. I began walking up to the school doors, spaced in my own world of random thoughts. "Maria!" The sound of Terri's shrill voice called me.

"Yeah, what?" I told her.

"I called your name like twice! You didn't hear me?" she asked with concern.

"No."

"Mind on Scott?" She teased.

"Actually on my coat, isn't it awesome?" I joked, giving her a little twirl and stopped with a pose popping my hip.

"Yeah," her expression deadpanned

I rolled my eyes, "Where's Rach?"

"With Liam." She simply said.

"Oh." I grinned walking through the halls, ignoring the looks I was getting. Rachel and Liam have been hanging out for a month, they haven't had an official date yet nor has she hasn't given us details. I began to unbutton my coat.

"What's with all the stares?" Terri asked, looking up that people were whispering and pointing at me.

"I have no idea." I said in a confused voice. I even spotted Lauren at the corner giving me the stink eye.

I shrugged it off as I went open my locker, getting my binder and physics book we started to making our way to class.

"No prom committee meeting today?" Terri asked.

"No, thankfully-" I felt lips kiss my cheek, I moved away from the person.

"Morning girlfriend," Scott said smoothly while putting his arm around me. What the hell is he talking about?

Scott:

I told my mom over the weekend that me and Maria been dating for a month and a half. I panicked, not wanting to see Julie Hafer again. Both will be having dinner with us this Saturday when dad gets back, mom thought we should reconcile and get back together because she and Mrs. Hafer were high school friends and I knew her daughter since middle school. She could be so cliché sometimes; it didn't work out with her because I wasn't in love. The first time we had sex after a year of dating, she said she loved me but I didn't. I told her the honest truth, suggested we should break up but she didn't accept and destroyed my room: spray painting the walls and sheets S&J forever, broke my windows and my clothes were ruined. I told my parents about it, she played victim that I broke her heart. They took her side and blamed me for hurting her.

I promised to not be in any committed relationship, until Maria. I'm not in love with her or anything, I just like her a lot, there's a difference. I called Dom and the guys last night that me and Maria were together. Of course I was teased all night for being whipped, Dom liked the idea of us dating but he was ecstatic to get closer to her friend.

I parked my car, shutting the door behind I saw Maria giving a twirl and posed. I chuckled at her weirdness but she's still cute. Logan approached me, "there's your girl," he told me with a nudge to my stomach.

I pushed him playfully, we entered the crowded hallways, ignoring the stares I approached Maria by her locker, kissed her on the cheek and called her girlfriend.

"What the hell are you talking about?" She frowned at me.

"Is that anyway to speak to your bf?" I grinned.

"Since when?" she pushed my arm off of me.

"Since last month." Her mouth opened then closed again, looking side to side confused.

"You didn't tell me you guys are dating!" Terri exclaimed.

"There was nothing to tell because we're not." She shook her hands.

"Maria, don't deny it," I said and kissed her lips softly, but her mouth didn't move back.

"Ter, I need to talk to Scott. I'll see you later." She pulled my by the hand, heading outside of the school.

"What happened to you don't date?" She asked.

"I know but I told my mom and she-"

"I haven't even met your mom."

"That's kind of my plan is. I'm trying to avoid an ex-girlfriend."

"So I'm a distraction."

"Kinda. I'll tell you the rest later."

She sighed, shaking her head, "you should have texted me so I can prepare."

"I thought you liked surprises."

"I told you I don't." We both laughed, I ran my hands away from my face.

"Is this a fake relationship, do we see other people?" She asked.

"No, I want to make this official." Getting closer to her, laced our fingers together, our eyes meet, her expression was skeptical but she softened her features.

"Ok. It's official," she finally said with a light laugh, kissing my cheek fast. Smiling at each other and entered the school hallway again holding hands. We are good to go.
