Chapter 3: Maria
Prom committee meeting was today after school in the cafeteria. Tony announced over the intercom it will consist of the theme that we all 'supposedly' agreed on and already spoke about budgets for refreshments, music, etc.
I sat next to Rachel who was a member too, opening her small notepad for notes. More members came in the room, Tony right behind and closing the door. I pulled out my own notepad as the meeting began addressing the theme.
Tony started to explain as he held on a clipboard, "Afternoon. I know the Gatsby theme was last minute, however it seemed more simple, less outrageous?" Simple? Outrageous? Jay Gatsby was a lavish rich man and threw expensive parties. His blue eyes now directed toward me, "Maria, The Rocky Horror Picture Show theme sounded almost perfect, when I ran it to the principal, he thinks students could take advantage of the dress code. And Dr. Frankenfurter is not ideal," he finished, flipping paper on his clipboard.
"Wouldn't it be over budget if it were a Gatsby theme?" I pointed out.
"It's gonna work out, right to the dollar," he answered. I puttered my lips.
"Whatever, let's talk about entertainment." I hit my hands on the table lightly and opened my notepad, I didn't feel like arguing back anyway. I was second in command, of this and Drama Club, Tony was first and we clashed on ideas. Whenever I wanted something different, he disagreed going by the rules.
Everyone thought that we secretly liked each other and suggested to date. We did have one, it didn't work. We had nothing in common and continued to butt heads.
As the meeting went on we agreed on hiring a DJ since it's affordable. I begged for a band but it would be over budget and no mainstream ones would agree to come. Knowing I wouldn't win this argument again I kept my mouth shut the rest of the hour. I just hoped the DJ played good music this time, not like the DJ last year at homecoming who played the good music for only 10 seconds and had his hour long breaks.
As the meeting ended me and Rachel walked out together from the room to talk about the Drama club meeting tomorrow after school, I told her I had a doctor's appointment.
"What play do you think we will do though?" Rachel asked me.
"I don't know but it should be something new instead of "Romeo and Juliet," I told her. Our director Mrs. Still had the hand of choice of plays and she loved her some Shakespeare.
"Yeah like Rent," Rachel said enthused.
"Absolutely. I'll talk to Mrs. Still about it." We headed our next elective, Yoga. All this tension and neck needed to be released.
Scott:
Dom and I liked to watch the girls do yoga in the gym. It's actually an elective in this school, it's so awesome. Dom was my partner in crime, my wingman and another teammate on lacrosse. As we watched the girls doing their poses, I noticed Rachel in green yoga pants doing a pose where she's bent over and hands on the ground.
"Does this help them for sex or something?" Dom asked me.
I shrugged, "maybe," but was distracted by Rachel. I spotted curly from my Physics class as well wearing black yoga pants and a black tank top. The class seemed over as they bowed hands in prayer form and rolling up their mats. Placing them under their arms they approached the double doors. Moving out the way quickly, we stood on the wall leaning against it casually as they walked out.
"Hey Rach," I called out her name, she turned and smiled widely. I knew how to charm my girls.
"Hi Scott," she said licking her full lips.
"How was yoga?"
"Amazing," she gushed swaying her body side to side.
"You looked great doing it," I told her, brushing her brown hair away from her shoulders. She giggled shyly. "So I'll pick you up at seven tonight."
"Okay." Biting her lip she linked her arms with curly and left.
"They are so hot," Dom whispered. I agreed. Rachel was pretty, bright eyes and slim body but I couldn't take my eyes off her friend.
