A Night To Remember

"I just don't get why you're not going." Will said as he lied down on Stephanies bed beside her, both of them looking up at the ceiling at the drawings they had made when they were six and left home alone.

"Dances aren't really my thing. Plus, I don't have a date and I'm not third wheeling." Stephanie shrugged out, making Will laugh, turning his head to look at her. "If not having a date is what you're worried about, I'll just ask one of the guys to take you."

Stephanie instantly let out an unwanted noise and shook her head. "I don't want a pity date from your lacrosse buddies." "It's not a pity date if they've wanted to get in your pants since ninth grade." Will snickered out and Stephanie's jaw instantly dropped, turning her head to face her brother. "You did not just say that."

"What? It's true!" Will yelled, lifting his hands up in surrender when someone knocked on Stephanies door. The siblings looked up and smiled at Scott and Stiles standing in the doorway, Will instantly pointing his thumb at her. "Can't one of you take her to the Winter Formal?" Stephanie groaned, stuffing her face in her pillow. "Scott can't go and Stiles already has a date." She let out and Will raised his eyebrows, turning to face Stiles.

"You got a date? Who?" Stiles smirked at the question, stuffing his hands in his front pockets. "Lydia Martin." Will looked at Stiles for a second before laughing, making Stiles' smile drop. Will noticed that Stiles wasn't laughing along and quickly stopped. "Wait. You're serious?" Stiles nodded his head, his jaw slightly dropped that Will didn't believe him.

"Yes, I am, Will. I don't really understand why you were laughing." Stiles pointed out to the boy who just shrugged. "I'm sorry, man." Will mumbled in a sarcastic apologetic voice. The two had a very similar sense of humor and sarcasm, making them sometimes clash with one another. Will sighed and turned to Stephanie. "Come on, Steph. I'll just get one of the guys to take you. I'll even make sure it's Scott and Stiles approved."

Stephanie looked up at her brother, trying to think of an answer but before she could even open her mouth, Scott started talking. "We kinda already called Lydia. She should be here any minute to go get ready at Allison's."

Stephanies jaw dropped as she turned to look at Scott who immediately winced at her glare. "I'm sorry?" She asked as if she didn't hear him correctly. Stiles walked up to Stephanie, shaking his head. "She brought a dress that she said would apparently match your complexion whatever the hell that means but she should be here soon."

"Or now." Scott said as soon as he finished his sentence, someone honked their horn from out side. Will hopped off the bed and ran towards Stephanies window and his jaw dropped at Lydias car. "Dude, you gotta stop that super hearing shit with me." Will laughed out and Scott sent him an awkward tight lipped smile.

"Okay, well Stephs gotta go. Say 'bye Steph!'" Stiles quickly said, grabbing onto Stephanie's shoulders and pushing her down the stairs and towards Lydias car. Lydia smiled as Stephanie hopped into the passenger seat. "Hey, Steph." Lydia greeted as she started driving to Allison's which was only a few blocks away from the Saticoys. "Hi, Lydia." Stephanie smiled out as she spoke.

...

It turns out, all of Will's friends found dates to the dance while Wills date got sick last minute and canceled on him, leaving the siblings to both go alone with no dates.

They spent most of the time together, dancing around sillyly to the upbeat songs that played and whenever a slow song came on, the two would go to the snack bar, booing at all the couples that got to dance.

At the moment, a slow song was playing. Will and Stephanie stood at the punch bowl. Stephanie getting something to drink while Will talked with Coach Finstock.

"McCall! I see you!" Coach screamed from beside Will and Steph, interrupting his conversation with Will and making them jump at his loud voice. "Come here, buddy!"

Stephanie's eyes went bugged eyed with panic and when Scott looked to her, she quickly gestured for him to run while she quickly got in front of Coach.

"hey, Coach. I got a question." Stephanie said, blocking the man from walking passed her. He sighed, trying to look around for Scott. "Not now, Saticoy. I need to get to your frie- Hey! You're stalling me! Saticoy! You better let me through or I will make you run laps until your legs fall off!" Coach threatened and Stephanie didn't hesitate to let him go. "Sorry, Scott." She whispered, knowing he might've heard her.

She watched Scott and Coach run around the gym as Allison walked up to stand beside her and Will. "McCall! You're not supposed to-" Coach stopped himself when he saw Scott dancing with Danny.

Stephanie stifled a laugh as the music died down. "Oh, this is great." She whispered, leaning onto Allison's side as Will brought his hand to his mouth, covering his chuckles.

"What the hell are you doing?" Coach slowly asked and Scott just pulled himself closer to Danny. "Yes, Coach?"

Coach started awkward laugh, realizing everyone was looking at him. "I was just saying he's not suppos- no. I wasn't saying that he shouldn't- You guys don't think- I was just.... Just dance, everybody. Dance! It's a party!" When Coach turned around, his eyes landed on Stephanie and he instantly pointed at her. "Steph- Saticoy!"

"I gotta go!" Stephanie whispered to Will and Allison before running out of the gym. She heard Coach yelling her name from the entrance of the gym, making her spin around and wave at the Coach. "Gotta go! See ya!" She turned back around and kept running until she reached the the outside.

Stephanie let out an airy laugh as she put her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath.

"Steph! Steph!" Stiles screamed from behind her and when she turned around, she saw Stiles running towards her, arms flailing. "Stiles, what wro- AH!" Stephanie screeched as he grabbed her arm, pulling her towards the lacrosse field.

As they got closer, Stephanie could see Lydia standing in the middle of the field with another figure. Stephanie squinted her eyes to see who she was standing with, quickly realizing it was Peter Hale, she and Stiles sped up. "Lydia! Run!"

Before anyone could process it, Lydia fell to the ground, bleeding, Peter on top of her. Stephanie slid on her knees once she got close enough to Lydia, ripping her dress a little but she didn't mind.

"Don't kill her. Please." Stiles whispered and Peter tilted his head. "Of course not. Just tell me how to find Derek." Stephanie looked up at hi with furrowed brows. "What?"

Peter looked down at Lydia, running his claw against the side of her face. "Tell me how to find Derek Hale." Stiles' breathing became uneven as he turned to Peter. "I don't know that. We don't know that. How would we know that?" "Because you're the clever one, aren't you, Stiles? And because deception has a particularly acrid scent. Tell me the truth... or I will rip her apart."

"Don't touch her." Stephanie whispered under her breath, glaring at the man. What she and Stiles didn't know, was when Peter looked up to Stephanie at her words, her eyes were flaming purple.

"Look... I don't know, okay? I sw- I swear to God, we have no idea." Peter glared at the teens. "Tell me!" He roared, Stephanies hands flying to her ears at his booming voice. "Okay, okay, okay, look, we think he knew-" "Knew what?" Peter interrupted. "Derek. We think he knew he was gonna be caught."

"By the Argents?" Stephanie nodded. "And?" "When they were shot... I think he took Scott's phone." Stiles breathed out and Peter turned to Stephanie since she wasn't stumbling over her words as much as Stiles was. "Why?" "They all have GPS now. So if he still has it and if and if it's still on, you can find him."

Peter nodded, standing up and pulling a handkerchief out of his pocket to wipe the blood from his mouth. "Then let's get going."

The two teens scrunched there faces in confusion as Stephanie shook her head. "What about Lydia?" "She's staying." Peter answered. "No. I'm not just letting you leave her here." Stiles said. "You don't have a choice Stiles, you're coming with me." Peter cooly spoke and Stephanie sat up a little more. "Than I'm staying."

Peter looked down at the girl again and noticed her eyes were still purple. His eyebrows furrowed as he looked at her. "What are you?"

Stephanie leaned back a bit, her eyes going back o their normal brown. "What?" Peter looked at her for a few seconds before sighing. "Fine. Stephanie will stay. Stiles is coming with me."

Stiles turned to Stephanie and she placed a hand on his shoulder, sending him a reassuring smile. "I got her. Don't worry." Stiles returned the smile as Peter grabbed onto the collar of his shirt, pulling him up. "Stephanie, you can call 9-1-1 when we are gonna, not before, you hear me?" Peter slowly spoke and Stephanie nodded, looking down at her = friend and checking for a pulse, sighing once she still felt one.

When she looked back up, Peter and Stiles were gone. Stephanie quickly pulled out her phone, typing in the three digit number as quickly as she could.

"9-1-1, what's your emergency?" The voice spoke into the phone and Stephanie kept the phone to her face with the help of her shoulder as she put pressure on Lyida's wounds. "My- My friend. She's bleeding... She's hurt."

"Okay, Ma'am, where are you?" The woman on the other line asked. "Beacon Hills lacrosse field. But hurry please."

"Rescue is on their way. Would you like me to stay on the phone?" The woman asked and Stephanie just shook her head no, feeling her throat close up at the feeling of Lydia's pulse becoming weaker. "Ma'am? Are you still there?" The woman asked and Stephanie realized the 9-1-1 operator could see her nod her head. "I'll be fine. Thank you." Stephanie quickly hung up and kept all her attention on the girl in front of her.

She could hear someone walking up behind her but she didn't pay attention. "Hey! What are you- Stephanie?" The voice called out and she turned her head, meeting eyes with Jackson. She let out a croaked breath as tears pooled her eyes. "Help."

Jackson ran over when he realized she was helping Lydia. "Did you... Did you call 9-1-1?" He asked and Stephanie nodded. "They're on their way." Jackson nodded, his head turning down to Stephanie's hands on Lydia's wounds.

The two could hear the sounds of faint sirens in the distance, making Stephanie let out a breathy laugh. "Hear that, Lydia? They're almost here."

Paramedics started running towards the teens with a gurney in hand. They didn't even acknowledge Jackson and Stephanie, pushing them out of the way and placing Lydia on the gurney and running back towards the ambulance.

Stephanie and Jackson didn't even have to say anything before they both started running to Jackson's car, driving after the ambulance to the hospital.

...

"Where's Lydia? Where is she? Where..." Jackson's questions stopped as he and Stephanie faced her hospital room window. She felt her breath being knocked out of her at the sight before feeling a hand grab her shoulder and turn her around.

"Steph. Hey, kid. What happened to that girl?" Sheriff Stilinski asked his sons friend. Stephanie didn't answer, making the man turn her to face him completely. "Steph, I know you're the one that called 9-1-1. What happened out there?"

"I was... I was running away from Coach cause I was messing with him. I ended up outside when I... when I heard her scream. I ran towards the field and she was just lying there." Stephanie whimpered out, some of the tears in her eyes being fake so the Sheriff wouldn't find out she was lying.

He nodded turning to Jackson. "Why'd you let her go out there alone. She's your responsibility!"

"No, she's not, okay? She didn't go to the formal with me." Jackson defended himself and Stephanie cursed under her breath at the Sheriffs next question. "Then who did she go with?"

"Do you really wanna know?" Jackson taunted. "She went with Stiles."

Sheriffs face dropped. "What?" He turned to Stephanie who had her head down. "Stiles took her."

He let go of Jackson and slid his hand down his face. "Somebody better find my son."

...

Stephanie was half asleep on one of the hospital chairs when Sheriff Stilinski's voice made her open her sleepy eyes. "Stiles, I don't care!"

"Is she gonna be okay?" Stiles quietly asked, making Sheriff sigh. "They don't know, partially they don't know what happened. She lost a lot of blood but there's something else going on with her."

"The doctors say it's like she's having an allergic reaction. Her body keeps going into shock." The man turned to Stephanie her tired head resting on her hand. "Did you see anything? I mean, do you have any idea who or what attacked her? No. No, I have no idea." Stephanie sat up a little, shaking her head as the two guys walked closer to her, Stiles taking the seat beside her and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I already told you, Sheriff, I don't know. I found her like that."

The man nodded, looking back and forth between the two. "What about Scott?" Stiles' brows furrowed at his dad. "What do you mean? What about him?"

"Did he see anything?" Sheriff rephrased the question and Stiles turned to Stephanie. "ls he not here?" She shook her head at his question. "I've been calling him on his cell phone. I've gotten no response." Sheriff told his son, making Stiles sigh. "Yeah, you're not gonna get one."

...

Stephanie had finally fallen asleep on the chair for a little nap when Stiles shook her awake. "Steph, come on. Wake up. We're gonna look for Stiles." Stephanie slowly got up and Stiles grabbed her elbow, pulling her with him. She could hear footsteps following them and turned her head to Jackson. "Hey, where are you going?"

"To find Scott." Stiles monotonely answered. "But you don't have a car." "We're aware of that. Thank you." Stiles sang and Jackson ran up to Stephanie, gently grabbing her shoulder. "Here, I'll drive. Come on..." Stiles grabbed Jackson's hand, ripping it off of Stephanie. "Look, just because you feel guilty all of a sudden doesn't make it okay, all right? Half of this is still your fault."

Jackson rolled his eyes. "Look, I have a car. You don't. Do you want my help or not?" Stephanie smirked, turning to Jackson. "Did you bring the Porsche?" Jackson looked at her weirdly before showing the keys. "Yeah." "Good." Stephanie sang, snatching the keys out of his hands. "I'll drive."

"You do know Will would kill you if he knew you were driving the Jeep." Jackson snarled to her but Steph's smile didnt falter. "Good thing he won't need to know." She went to walk out of the hospital but immediately stopped at Chris Argent and his men. "Boys... And Steph. I was wondering if you can tell me where Scott McCall is."

"Who?" Steph asked before realizing what she said as Stiles smacked the back of her head. "Scott McCall? Um... Haven't seen him since the dance." Stiles answered, making Chris hum, turning to the other boy. "Jackson, you?" "Uh... I..." Jackson muttered, making Stiles groan. "Oh, for the love of God." Jackson whipped his head to Stiles. "At least I didn't do what Steph did!"

In an instant, Chris' men went for the three teens and just before one of the men could touch Stephanie she backed up. "Touch me, and I scream."

The man turned to Chris who was watching Stephanie. "Will you follow us then?" Stephanie looked away, thinking about it for a moment before nodding her head. "Fine."

Stephanie followed the men into an empty OR and Chris locked the door. "Let's try this again. Where is Scott McCall?"

He quickly grabbed onto Stiles and pushed him against the wall. A man came up behind Steph, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and the other on her mouth so she wouldn't scream.

"Let me ask you a question, Stiles. Have you ever seen a rabid dog?" Chris asked and Stiles shook his head. "No. I could put it on my to-do list if you just let me go."

"Well, I have, and the only thing I've ever been able to compare it to is seeing a friend of mine turn on a full moon. Do you want to know what happened?" Chris asked, tilting his head to the side. "Not really. No offense to your storytelling skills." Stiles muttered but the man continued anyway.

"He tried to kill me, and I was forced to put a bullet in his head. The whole while that he lay there dying, he was still trying to
claw his way toward me, still trying to kill me, like it was the most important thing he could do with his last breath. Can you imagine that?"

"No. And it sounds like you need to be a little bit more selective..." Chris slammed Stiles into the wall harder, shutting him up. "Did Scott try to kill you and Stephanie on the full moon? Did you have to lock him up?" Chris asked and Stiles nodded. Jackson turned to Stephanie at his action but she had her eyes on Stiles. "Yeah, I did. I had to handcuff him to a radiator. Why? Would you prefer I locked him in the basement and burned the whole house down around him?"

Chris dryly laughed. "I hate to dispel a popular rumor, Stiles,
but we never did that." "Oh, right. Derek said you guys had a code. I guess no one ever breaks it." Stiles sassed and the man nodded. "Never."

Steph bit the mans hand that was keeping her mouth covered, making him release his grip on him. "What if someone does?" She asked Chris and he turned to her, his brows furrowed. "Someone like who?" "Your sister."

...

"Okay, now we need to go." Stiles said as the ran towards the elevators. Stephanie stopped walking, feeling a knot in her stomach as she passed Lydias room. She turned her head to look at Lydia through the window and she could faintly see a reflection of herself. As she stared off at her friend, she could faintly see her eyes turn purple through the reflection. Stephanie jumped, focusing on herself but when she looked into her eyes, they were brown again.

"Steph. What are you doing? We gotta go." Stiles told her from the elevator and Stephanie mindlessly reached for Jackson's keys she grabbed and tossed them to the boys. "Go. I'm staying here."

Stiles looked at her with a confused face. "Steph. Come on. We gotta-" "Go Stiles!" Stephanie screamed and Jackson sucked in a breath of air, pushing Stiles into the elevator and leaving Stephanie at the hospital.

...

When Scott and Stiles got back to the hospital, they quickly filled Stephanie in on everything that had happened. Derek was the alpha, killing Peter. How Kate had died and Scott is still a werewolf. Before they could even let her process all the information they had given her, Scott pulled her into Lydias room, dragging her to the ground beside him. "Shut the door. Shut the door." Scott whispered to Stiles and he jumped to the door, slowly closing it as the door creaked. Stephanie groaned, bringing a hand up to her face. "Oh, God." When Stiles finally got the door closed, he jumped up, locking it, turning to his friends who both gave him 'really' looks. "What?"

Stephanie sighed, shaking her head and walking towards Lydia's bed. She slowly grabbed the end of her hospital gown, lifting it up to see the bandage. She slowly took off the bandage, Scott watching as Stiles looked away. "Is it completely healed?" He muttered. "No." Stephanie mumbled back. "Not at all." Scott added, making Stiles turn to see the gash on her side.

"I don't get it. The doctor said she'd be fine." Stiles muttered. "Yeah, but the bite's not healing like it did with me. Which means..." "She's not a werewolf." Stephanie finished for Scott.

"Then what the hell is she?" Stiles asked as Stephanie rewrapped Lydia. "No clue."
