Who Was On Watch

"And does anyone know where Dr. Hilyard is?" Scott and Stephanie heard Melissa yell through the main area of the hospital as Sabrina groaned. Stephanie cringed at the stressed mothers, leaning towards Scott. "Oh they're cranky, be nice."

Sabrina, hearing her daughters voice, turned her head and immediately smiled at Stephanie, walking towards her as she kissed the side of her head and took the bag of food from her. "Oh, thank god. I'm starving."

"Thank you for bringing dinner." Melissa said, looking back and forth between Scott and Stephanie.

"Is everything okay?" Stephanie asked, referring to his mother yelling a few moments prior. Melissa sighed, leaning on the nurses station. "Except for half the accident victims in a ten car pile-up being rerouted here from downtown, and the E.R. Attending not answering any of his pages..." "Yeah, we're okay." Sabrina finished, taking a bite of her sandwich as she nodded her head.

"What does not answering pages mean?" Scott asked, looking between the two women. Sabrina wiped her mouth quickly as she looked up at Scott. "It means that nobody can find him, so now we have to wait for the on call to get here."

"Excuse me, can I please have something for the pain?" A lady asked, walking up to Melissa and Sabrina. Melissa instantly frowned, shaking her head. "I'm sorry. I know. But, actually, giving you something could complicate things, so we really just need to wait for the doctors. Okay?"

Stephanie and Scott watched as Melissa helped the woman sit down. Stephanie looked up to Scott who immediately knew what she was thinking and took the empty seat next to the woman as Stephanie sat beside Scott.

"Uh, you know, I think that I read online that sometimes human contact can help with pain." Scott mumbled and the girl slowly nodded. Scott rested his hand on the womans and Stephanie watched as his veins turned black and the pain in the woman's face washed away. She quickly turned to Scott and gave him a grateful smile as the hospital doors swung open.

"Someone... Someone help me! Oh, I need help!" Stephanie's eyes went wide at the voice, recognizing it immediately. She whipped her head towards the door and started running to help Ethan hold Danny up.

Sabrina ran over with wide eyes, looking at Danny who couldn't breathe. "Come on. Come on. Let's set him down."

Ethan nodded, he and Stephanie dragging Danny to a seat as Melissa and Scott came over.

"Okay, gentle, gentle, gentle!" Sabrina whispered as she and Melissa kneeled in front of Danny to check on him. Stephanie quickly turned to Ethan glaring at him as she poked a finger at his check. "What did you do to him?"

Ethan raised his hands in surrender, shaking his head. "Nothing. He said he was having chest pains and trouble breathing, but it... it just kept getting worse."

"This is not good." Sabrina mumbled as Melissa looked down the hallway. "How much longer on Dr. Hilyard?"

"His larynx has shifted to the side. I think it's a tension pneumothorax." Sabrina mumbled before Danny vomited, Sabrina and Melissa getting out of the way just before it hit them.

Stephanie stared down at the ground with wide eyes, noticing something that came out of Danny's mouth. "Mistletoe."

Melissa turned to Sabrina with wide eyes. "Let's get him to a real bed." Sabrina nodded, the two wrapping Danny's arms around their shoulders and led him into his own room.

"Can you three please go back to the waiting room?" Sabrina asked, noticing Stephanie, Scott and Ethan walking into Danny's room.

"Where are the nurses and the doctors? Where is everyone?" Ethan asked. Stephanie shook her head, looking down at Danny. "It's a full house tonight." Sabrina nodded at Stephanie's words, looking up to Ethan as she looked through the cabinets. "They're tending to other patients."

"Okay, well, mom, how can we help?" Scott asked, looking up at his mom in slight panic. Melissa looked up to Scott, shaking her head. "Honey, you can't. His lung is collapsed. His heart is being pushed against his chest cavity, so..."

"He's gonna die, isn't he?" Stephanie asked quietly and Sabrina sighed, shaking her head. "No. No, he's not." Melissa looked to Sabrina with wide eyes but the woman only nodded her head. Melissa sighed, turning to the teens. "Scott, you grab the tape. You grab those scissors and cut his shirt open. And Steph, help hold Danny down.

All the teens nodded as doing as they were told as Melissa and Sabrina grabbed needles and Danny gasped for air. "Okay." Melissa mumbled and Scott shook his head. "Mom, he's not breathing." "I know, I know. Okay."

At the same time, both women stuck shots into Danny; Melissa getting his shoulder while Sabrina got his neck. Stephanie's eyes went wide, taking a step back as her mother pulled the needle out of Danny's neck. "I can tell why Stiles doesn't like needles now."

Danny slowly looked up at Sabrina and Melissa, giving them a faint smile. "Thank you." The mothers smiled at Danny. "No problem." Melissa mumbled as Sabrina noticed the three teens staring at them. "What?"

"That was awesome." Stephanie mumbled, a huge smile on her face, making Sabrina chuckle. "It was no problem, you know?" "It wasn't a big deal." Melissa added.

...

"I know you're not gonna believe me, but I didn't do anything." Ethan said as they walked out of the hospital. Scott clenched his jaw, looking at the boy. "All I know is that the minute that you got here, you went right for Danny, and your brother went for Lydia."

"We're not gonna hurt him." Ethan said and Stephanie rolled her eyes. "Why should I believe you?" Ethan turned to her and smirked. "Because we knew one of them was gonna be important to you guys, and now we know it's Lydia."

Stephanie continued glaring at Ethan when Scott elbowed her in the ribs, pointing at a car driving into the parking lot. Stephanie furrowed her brows, walking passed Ethan to look at the car as she tilted her head. The three watched as the car swerved before heading right towards Sabrina's car. Stephanie's eyes went wide, sticking her arm out and making a little barrier to stop the car from hitting her moms car.

Stephanie and Scott ran for the car, running towards the drivers seat to find it empty. "What?" Stephanie whispered as Ethan walked towards them. "What is it?"

...

"Hang on, hang on. They were both in the car?" Sheriff Stilinski asked as he and James questioned Scott and Stephanie. Stiles, Will and Isaac standing beside them since the men had brought them.

"No, dad, they're trying to tell you that it was two separate kidnappings, okay?" Stiles said as Will nodded his head. "Two doctors, both gone."

"So whose car is this?" James asked. Sabrina sighed, turning to her husband. "Dr. Hilyard, the on-call doctor. The E.R. Attending is the one that never made it in."

The Sheriff sighed, turning to Sabrina and Melissa. "Let me just focus on getting your stories first, all right?"

"Yeah." Melissa mumbled as Sabrina nodded, the four adults walking away.

"These are definitely sacrifices, right?" Stephanie asked, looking between the boys as Isaac wrapped his arm around Stephanie's waist, resting his head on hers. Will and Stiles nodded. "Yeah, it's one Deaton mentioned: Healers." Stiles said but Scott's brows furrowed. "What about Danny? He threw up mistletoe. That's not a coincidence." "And if he hadn't been with Ethan, he probably would've died. Danny's not a healer." Stephanie added as Will squinted passed the group, nodding his head to the Sheriff on the phone.

"Can you hear that?" Will asked Isaac and Scott and they quickly listened in on the call, their eyes going wide. "They found a body."

...

Stephanie, Isaac and Will laid on James and Sabrinas bedroom floor, the three of them fast asleep. When James had woken up to go to work, he rolled his eyes as he looked down at the three; Stephanie and Isaac cuddled up into each other as Will curled himself into the carpet for warmth.

"Kids." James whispered, not wanting to wake his sleeping wife beside him. The three teens didn't wake up. James sighed, rubbing his eyes. "Kids!"

Stephanie, Isaac and Will jumped awake and quickly stood up as they looked at the man. "What do you think you're doing?"

Will scratched the back of his neck as he looked between his parents. "Uh, we were watching over mom." "We wanted to make sure she wasn't the third sacrifice." Isaac added and Stephanie nodded her head.

"But all three of you were asleep." James said, blinking plainly. Stephanie and Will's eyes slowly widened as they turned to Isaac, both of them pointing at him. "You were on watch last." They whispered at the same time, making Isaac's eyes go wide.

"What are you talking about? You were on watch last." Isaac said, looking at Stephanie who immediately shook her head. "No, you were on watch last."

Isaac looked back and forth between Will and Stephanie's nods before sighing, turning to James. "I might've been on watch last."

James pinched the bridge of his nose, slightly shaking his head. "Yeah, well, your moms not gonna be anyone's human sacrifice today, so you three get your butts to school."

...

Already half the school day had gone by as Stephanie walked towards her chemistry class, Ms. Blake teaching it since Mr. Harris had been missing.

Just as she was about to go into the class, a hand grabbed hers, pulling her down the hallway as another hand grabbed her other elbow.

Stephanie looked back and forth between the two people that grabbed her with wide eyes. "Wh- Isaac! Boyd!"

Isaac squeezed her hand tighter, looking down at her with fake innocent smile. "Hey, we need your help. So you're coming with us."

Stephanie opened and closed her mouth in shock, looking between the two boys. "Need help with what?"

"We'll explain on the way. For now, think of an excuse to leave school."

...

"Go back to school." Derek said from the stairwell, immediately knowing who came in. Isaac let out a low hum, shaking his head. "Well, actually, we can't. Boyd, Steph and I are incredibly and unbelievably sick."

Derek let out a chuckle. "With what, brain damage?" "Cramps." Stephanie shrugged as she walked towards the table, leaning against it as Isaac followed after her. "I have a migraine, and, uh, Boyd here has explosive diarrhea."

Boyd rolled his eyes at the smirks on Isaac and Stephanie's faces, turning to Derek. "We're here to protect you." Derek scoffed, walking down the spiral staircase. "You're here to protect me? Well, I'm in trouble them."

"Actually, Boyd came up with a plan." Stephanie said before turning to Boyd who was looking at her. Boyd gave her a nod of thanks before going into his backpack, pulling out a bunch of electrical wires. "Yeah, I thought about the time Gerard had me and Erica locked up, tied up with electrical wires pushing current through us. I was wondering how we could do something like that... But on a bigger scale."

"In a pool of electrified water, it can take up to 50 milliamps to kill a normal human, less than the power it takes to turn on a light bulb." Stephanie said, making Derek let out a sarcastic hum. "That's comforting."

"If we disable the circuit interrupter in the building's electrical room, the current will keep coming, and anyone who steps foot in here, they'll get a pretty shocking surprise." Boyd said proudly. "Especially someone who's barefoot." Isaac smirked out, making Stephanie smile

...

Will and Stiles scrambled into the veterinarians office, skidding to a stop at all the police in the room.

"We're gonna do everything we can. Right now, the best thing you can do is go back to school." Sheriff Stilinski said, going to look around the building.

Scott turned around, hearing Stiles and Will enter. He quickly grabbed both of their arms and dragged them into the supplies closet.

"We have to tell him." Scott said and Stiles' eyes went wide. "You mean, like, tell him, tell him, or tell him something else that isn't telling him what I think you want to tell him?"

Will sighed, turning to Stiles. "You know what he mean." Stiles looked to Will for a few seconds before shaking his head, turning to Scott. "You remember how your mom reacted? She didn't look you in the eye for, like, a week."

"And she got over it, and... and it actually made us closer." Scott said and Will quickly nodded, pointing at him. "And my dad didn't have that big of a reaction and since you're not a werewolf or anything, your dad will still freak out but you know... only semi."

Stiles sighed at Will's words, shaking his head. "I don't know... I mean, look at him. Come on, he's completely overwhelmed as it is."

Will turned around, pointing at Stiles' dad and his own dad. "He's overwhelmed because he has no clue what's happening. He's got people dying in his town, the town that he's supposed to protect, and it's not his fault that he doesn't know what's happening. And my dad... my dad knows what's happening and can't tell your dad because he doesn't know yet. He can't tell my mom because she doesn't know yet so he's just sitting around as a stress time bomb."

Scott looked at Will for a moment before turning back to Stiles. "He's gonna find out sooner or later."

Stiles bright his hand up to his face as if he were thinking, shaking his head. "Yeah, but is now really the right time?"

"What if not telling him now gets someone else killed?" Scott asked and Stiles tensed up. "What if telling him gets him killed, huh? I mean, okay, look, I get that Deaton's been like a father to you. I get that, okay? But this is M... Scott, this is my actual father. I can't... I can't lose both of my parents, all right? Not both of them."

"You're right." Scott mumbled as Will looked down. Stiles sighed, looking back and forth between Scott and Will. "No, I'm not. I'm not right. I'll tell him."

"We'll help you." Will whispered, placing a hand on Stiles' shoulder. Stiles turned to Will, smiling as they turned around, the three of them walking out to find their counselor talking with James.

"Please, whatever you need, however you can help find my brother." She begged and James nodded as the three teens looked at the interaction with wide eyes. "We didn't know about that, right?" Will asked and Still and Scott slowly nodded as James walking away from the woman, making her stomp towards the three boys.

"Okay, listen closely. No sheriff, deputy, or detective is going to be able to find him." Scott chuckled at her words, shaking his head. "You don't have to ask us for help."

Marin turned to Scott with raised brows. "Actually, I'm trying to help you, because, if you're going to find my brother, then you need to use the one person who might actually have an ability to seek out the supernatural."

Stiles' face fell in realization as he turned to Scott and Will. "Lydia."
