Chapter Nineteen: Honoured
I had watched Red leave but had known better than to follow my Instinct to find her. It wanted me to chase after her, wanted me to scour the Forest looking for her scent. I knew that was pointless. She had teleported herself away specifically so I wouldn't follow her. So despite still reeling slightly from the incredible sex we had, I had gone to my cold cabin, cleaned myself up, and went to the family Compound.
Why?
Because running around following my Instinct was fucking stupid. Violet mentioned that Red owned a bar, the best course of action was to go see Violet and ask her where Red's bar was located. I would have headed straight there but I figured it was better to clean up. I knew that my ma would definitely give me shit for showing up smelling like sex, especially with the babes around. It was better to not test her at all about it.
The Compound's walls nearly loomed over me as I made my way towards them. There was a reason Jax and I went our own way after we became old enough. Some things were just wrong and those looming walls that made me feel trapped, was one of them. The large gate was open when I came upon it and I walked through, waving at those who called out greetings. I could see they were preparing for a large celebration, more than likely for Violet and her twins.
I watched as a group of weremales gently lowered a bronze statue of a robed woman, the phases of the moon arching between her outspread hands, in the center of the main square. No one would outright say it because all babes were worth a celebration but I knew there would be heavier celebration and there were more sculptures of the moon goddess out simply because we had been blessed with a female. Babes, no matter their sex, were celebrated but everyone silently agreed that sometimes a bit more celebration was needed when it was a coveted female that was born.
I liked seeing everyone so excited and together as they set up the various decorations for the celebration that I was fairly positive would last a week or more. I knew that Violet would be damn near overwhelmed with it all. It wasn't just a celebration for the babies, it was a celebration for the mother, for getting through the labour, for gifting the Compound with new children. She would learn that her blessing the Compound with a female would mean she would be inundated with much more love.
Werewolves would want to touch her, to be close to her. A long held belief that if she touched them or was close enough, that her blessing could potentially fall to them as well. I smirked slightly at how Jax would react to that. Male werewolves were more than likely going to line up to be able to have Violet's blessing. The thought made me chuckle, he would have to put up with it unless Violet said no, which I doubted she would. She was far too kind to shatter someone's hope like that.
I came up to the family home, the stone building was still standing, looking like it had a fresh retouching of grout to the stones not that long ago. It had been built hundreds of years ago and it was taken care of with the utmost care and upkeep so it would stand for hundreds more. I didn't bother knocking on the large front door, just walked in, closing it behind me. My little brothers were running around, more than likely cleaning house and gathering things for our ma in her want to make everything perfect for Violet and her twins.
"It's a mad house in here." I called it out, grinning at the various aged little brothers I had. The youngest was just turning twelve I was sure. They called out their greetings but didn't stop in their chores. I moved through them and to the large main room. A crackling fire blazed in the fire place and I watched as my mother carried my nephew around, a soft smile firmly entrenched on her face as she rubbed his small back and sang softly to him. "Hello, ma." I moved into the room and she nodded her greeting but didn't stop her lullaby to the little male.
I kissed the cheek she presented me before I spotted my pa on the large couch, he was cooing to the tiny female in his arms, holding her with the utmost care. I walked over to him and he nodded in greeting as I bent down and kissed his cheek as well. "Wondrous little granddaughter we have been blessed with, isn't she?" He glanced at me, his eyes almost teary and I nodded. I could only imagine how he would have been had one of the seven of us had been female.
I bent down and kissed her tiny cheek, "Where's Jaxton an' Violet?" I asked it as I stood up straight and my father made a noise of discontent.
"Leave them be, Violet is recovering." He threw me a sharp look that had me grinning as I shook my head with amusement.
"You should know by now that keeping them apart is impossible, Garuund." My mother said it with a chuckle as she swayed back and forth, cuddling the little male in her arms. "They are in the large guest bedroom." She glanced at me and I nodded, kissing her cheek again as I moved by her. I kissed the top of my nephew's head as well before I left the main room and moved to the large guest room that was right beside it. I knocked on it as I pushed open the door.
There was a large framed bed and Violet was curled up nearly on Jaxton's chest and they both glanced at me. "Brother." Jaxton nodded at me, his hand rubbing Violet's lower back. "You didn't tell me the troubles of her labouring. I resent that." His eyes gleamed with intent and aggression and I quirked my eyebrow at him.
"I did not. I wanted to wait until you had time to have happy memories with your son and daughter before I told you what troubles she had. I know you would have worried yourself sick and missed the wonder of having your babes in your arms if I had told you before." He could look at it with distaste all he wanted. He would thank me later when he remembered the feeling of wonder at holding his babes in his arms. He would have worried and stressed and those moments would have been tainted if I had told him. I had no regrets about it. "I took care of it." I did and Violet survived, that was all that mattered at this point.
"And will apologize." The language came out of Violet haltingly but it was enough to surprise both Jax and I. Jax looked at her, his hand pausing on her back. "I said I was picking up on it." She shrugged and I grinned at her. I thought it was adorable to be honest.
"I spoke to Red already." I said it carefully as I watched Violet. Jax was one to growl but I knew the little witchling could be violent when she was pressed or seriously upset.
She looked me up and down, raising an eyebrow. "She looked like she did more than speak to you."
I grinned again, running my hand through my hair. "Yah, we tussled a little bit but worked it out." I knew I looked more than bruised. I ached a bit but it was nothing I couldn't handle. Besides I liked the reminder of the decidedly heated tussle we had.
"Did you apologize?" Violet shifted slightly, moving to be more on her back rather than her side as she looked at me through narrowed eyes.
"I did no', which is why I am here. I forgot all about apologizing to her during our tussle and want t' rectify it." I tried to look as innocent as possible. I wasn't going to apologize to her, we had worked it out and I wasn't going to apologize for something I felt justified in doing.
"Rectify it or bed her again? I can still smell her on you." Jax let out an amused rumble as he started to run his hand through Violet's hair, rubbing at her scalp.
I grinned at him at that, "Perhaps a bit of both." I winked at him, not surprised he caught it. I never could hide much of anything from him.
Violet scowled darkly. "I understood that." At the words I shifted my grin to her and winked. I wasn't about to be sorry for having sex with the violent witchling. In fact I would be more inclined to have far too much pride in it. "You be nice to my blood-sister, Lyxton. I'm warning you." She pointed at me, her mouth pulling into a moue that caused me to do my best to suppress my grin and put on a hurt expression.
"I'm hurt ye don't trust me, Vi." I stuck my bottom lip out in a big pout, clutching my hands to my chest and staggering slightly as if she had hurt me greatly.
"I trust you about as far as I can throw you, Lyxton. Be nice." She pointed at me again and I couldn't keep hiding my smile.
"I think you should tell your blood-sister t' be nice t' me. She's the one who swings first." that was objectively true, each time she had been the first to swing, that classed it as self-defense.
"Be nice, Lyxton." She threw me another narrowed eye look before shifting to snuggle back into Jaxton, allowing him access to rub her back again, which he did almost immediately. "Don't scare her off before I get a chance to know her." She muttered it out and that did cause a pang in my chest that had me coming over.
"I'm sure she wants to get to know you. Regardless of me." I leaned over and kissed her cheek before reaching out and nudging Jax's chin. He winked at me, his eyebrow rising in question. I didn't have to have him ask it, I knew he was asking if I had enjoyed myself with the witchling. I nodded with hooded eyes, letting him know that I had more than enough enjoyment out of it. I looked back at Violet, "Have you contacted her mother?" That seemed to have been important for Red and I wanted to at least make sure that Violet had done what Red had needed her too.
"Not yet, I will when I feel a little less tired." She gave a slow nod to that and I returned it.
"Being here will help. Ma is good with the babes an' ye will get t' have more sleep." Jax murmured it out, looking at her like she was the most important and wondrous thing in the world to him. The love he had for her was so easy to see and nearly feel, it radiated out of him when he looked at her. Even before she had gotten pregnant it had been like that. They truly were a perfect match. I just needed to convince Red she was a perfect match for me.
I shook the thought away. "Just don't forget. From what I could gather, her mother really wanted t' get t' know you." If the witch had sent Red out into the Norther Forests to find Violet, I could only imagine how badly she wished to hear from Violet.
Violet nodded before turning her head on Jaxton's chest and looking up at him. "I have a grandmother too." She swallowed hard and I knew how badly she had wanted a family, someone to love her like she never had been as a child growing up.
Jax's face twitched, his expression darkening slightly, "Is she like your rotten piece of shit, waste of space, should have killed her mothe'-"
"Jax, enough!" Violet smacked his chest in reprimand. He threw her a look and she matched it before shaking her head. "Red said that she would be ecstatic to know she has a granddaughter." She shifted her head rubbing her cheek against his chest.
"Aye, anyone should be ecstatic to know about ye." Jax said it softly, once again returning to rubbing her back. "I know I am." With that he grinned before wrapping his arms around her and burying his face into her neck.
Violet giggled as he nuzzled her neck, growling playfully. After a few moment they stopped and she looked up at me. "We named the twins. We will announce them publicly the first day of the celebrations." Jax lessened his hold on her but kissed her forehead before looking at me.
"That's good. I'm happy t' hear it." I nodded at them. I was. I was happy to hear that, the little babes needed to be named.
"We want t' tell ye." Jax said it evenly and I blinked at him slightly.
"Does ma know?" I hadn't heard ma or pa use their names but I couldn't make a guess based on less than two minutes of interaction.
"No, we wanted ye to be the first." Jax slowly nodded, looking up at me with a soft smile that was matching to the one on Violet as she looked at me as well. I was honestly shocked, I was. I hadn't been expecting that at all.
I swallowed hard and opened and closed my mouth several times, trying to work around the lump in my throat and think about the best way to express my thanks. I settled with pressing my fist over my heart and bowing towards them. "I'm honoured." To be the first to know of the names was a great honour I hadn't been expecting and I was touched.
"We didn't want it to be anyone else." Violet said it softly as she reached over and drew her knuckles down my cheek. She gave me that soft smile again and I stood up straight swallowing against the lump in my throat.
"Our little male we have decided t' name Redmuund." Jax rubbed Violet's back and I grinned at the name of my nephew
"After Red, she helped make sure he was born safe and that I was okay. We wanted to honour her." Violet looked at me slightly and I toned down my grin to a smile.
"Its a lovely name. A strong one. I am sure Red will be greatly honoured." I didn't really know what she would think but I would have been honoured to have a namesake.
"Our little female..." Jax coughed slightly, clearing his throat. I watched as he swallowed convulsively for a few seconds, blinking rapidly as he did so. "We named her Lyxandris, after her uncle." At the words I froze and blinked rapidly, feeling a burn in my eyes.
I crouched by the bed and grabbed his hand, squeezing it tightly. "I'm beyond honoured, brother." I pressed a kiss to the back of his hand, holding it tightly as I blinked back the tears. To be so blessed as to have the honour of a female carrying my name was beyond anything I could have imagined. It was enough to make me want to weep.
"You deserve it, Lyxton." Violet said it softly as she reached for me and I grabbed her hand as well, kissing the back of it too.
"I can't rightly agree but thank ye, both of ye." My throat felt thick and I swallowed convulsively. I couldn't believe it. I honestly couldn't. That little female carried my name forward, they gave me the greatest honour I could have ever imagined. I kissed their hands again, squeezing them tightly once more before I let them go. I coughed, clearing my throat. "I should head out t' find Red." I needed to get away before I turned into a weepy mess.
Jax nodded and Violet looked at me, her lips pursed slightly. "I don't know where her bar is but she is roughly located on the outskirts of the Territories near Shelltown. That is where our blood bond let me know where she is. I do know her bar is called Red's Line." The information was more than welcome and I nodded quickly.
"I'll find her." With that much information I could find her rather easily.
"And apologize." Violet gave me a look and I smirked at her but said nothing as I saluted them both and turned on my heels. "And apologize, Lyxton!" She called it out as I left the room. I wasn't going to make any promises and currently I needed to find the witchling I was going to take on as my breeder.
She just needed a little convincing.
