It's been almost a year now. I practiced my flying skills, Lilly's doing way better, and that annoying fox girl hadn't came back yet.

I looked around the cave and I decided to make it more like a home. I went outside and gathered more bamboo, large tree leaves, and some stray twigs. Then I got to work. About a couple hours later I was done. It looked nice. Then I remembered the diamond things.

Lilly knew what they were, and she said they hold a special power in them. She said they were... Chaos... Diamonds, or something. She also told me that if all seven were in place, you can get a special power, and whenever you're done using them, they scatter and you have to find them again. That's probably where they went...

I told Lilly that I was going to leave for a little while to get some more berries. She nodded and turned into a flicky again. I left the cave and went out into the woods. I visited the flower patch, which was glowing brighter than normal, then I went to the river, which I caught some fish in, and lastly I went to a strawberry patch, which had some large strawberries in it. I picked as much as my basket could hold, and I ate a few.

As I sat in the early morning sun, I heard a sound, then a whoosh. I turned in the direction of the sound and I saw the blue hedgehog again. It turned in my direction and stared at me. I stared back, not knowing what to do. I noticed that the hedgehog was a male. He had emerald green eyes, white gloves and red shoes with a white stripe on them. I held out my hand with a few strawberries in it. He shook his head no and walked away. I got up and looked at the back of him, then I got an idea.

"Um, hey! Wait a minute!" I said. He turned around and looked at me with a confused face.

"Yeah?" He scratched his ear.

"Um... Do you know what the.... Um... Chaos... Thingies are?"

"Chaos thingies? Oh, wait, I think you mean Chaos Emeralds."

What in the world are Chaos Emeralds? I thought of the flowers.

"Chaos.... Emeralds?" Now I had a confused look.

"They're these big jewels that are really important for me to get, so that I can make sure they don't fall into the wrong hands."

"Oh, I see. Well I had an encounter with the... Chaos Emeralds..."

"You did?!" He got really close and almost started shaking me when he put his hands on my shoulders.

"Uh, yeah... And they went somewhere after I felt an energy going through me and it made my eyes go red, and-"

"You mean you turned super?"

I don't understand what's wrong with this guy. You never ask someone who's been living in the woods your whole life a question like that...

"Yeah, sure, that. But then they scattered about and I was trying to find them again so I can figure out what exactly they did."

"Oh, I see! In that case, would you like to help me?" He let go of me and smiled.

"Um sure! What's your name?"

"My name's Sonic. Sonic the hedgehog!" He gave me a thumbs up. "What's yours?"

"Oh, my name is Melody Prower." I smiles at him and my twin tails started to spin. Sonic stared at me like I said something that he was confused about, like a really long division question.

"Note to self: Ask Tails if he has a sister..." Sonic mumbled to himself.

"Who's Tails?"

"Oh, he's a friend of mine. Here, hop on my back!" He said.

I did what he told me, but I had a slight suspicion he was avoiding my question... Or he's working for that fox girl...

"So, Melody, you like to go fast?" He asked.

"What do you mean, if I like to go fast?"

"You'll see!" In the blink of an eye, we were racing around the forest, taking sharp turns at supersonic speeds. No wonder his name was Sonic...

"Wow! This is cool! Where did you learn how to run like this?"

"I was born this way!" (No one comment about this. I know how Sonic got his speed so all of you shut up right now...)

"That's awesome!" In the corner of my eye I saw something sparkling. A lot of somethings sparkling. "Hey, slow down a minute, I see something!"

Sonic came to a full stop. "Where?" He looked around.

"Over there near the flower patch." I walked over there. Sonic followed. I saw his eyes sparkle like mine did when I first saw the flowers.

"This is pretty!" He commented.

"Yeah, I know!" I searched in the flower patch, then before I knew it, I had fallen into a hole that might've been five feet deep. And there the emeralds were. Seven of them were in there.

"Are you okay down there?" Sonic poked his head down the hole.

"Yeah, I am! And I found seven of the emeralds. Are there any more?"

"No, that's all of them, but it is strange how they all appeared here in the same place."

"Maybe someone got them all before we did." I thought of the fox girl.

"Maybe. We better get them out of here."

"Okay." I grabbed some and flew out the hole and gave them to Sonic. "Do you know what happens to you when you have all the emeralds?" I asked.

"Oh, well I go into my super form, which makes me stronger, faster, and have the ability to fly. I also turn yellow."

"Cool!" I got the rest of the emeralds and gave them to Sonic. He put them in his quills, which I thought was an odd place to put things at, but then I remembered that I have stuff stashed away in my tails...

Sonic looked around for a bit then he looked at me.

"So what are you doing in the forest alone?"

I didn't speak, nor did I face him. I hugged my tails tight and started walking away. I could feel him staring at me. I then heard a whoosh and I looked back. He wasn't there.

"Beom Beom!!" Lilly greeted me when I came back. I petted her head and sat on the ground. I saw on the desk there was a book. I opened it and it was a guide to using the Chaos  Emeralds, although I didn't think anyone would not know what the emeralds are... Except me.

I read the whole book twice and I still didn't understand anything about its power! Cause apparently there's a thing called the Master Emerald and it controls all the chaos emeralds and stuff... I need to sleep...
