Ren had one task left before soaring off into the bleak exosphere and disintegrating to nil: rooting out the radiant orange cubes that mysteriously emerged on the snowy foothills of Sector 666-AZ. This was easy despite his lanky two-foot build, for Ren could uproot skyscrapers like pins from a board with his telekinesis.

However, the giant cube before him was pulsating. Like a heartbeat.

With reddish hues all over his transluscent skin, Ren took another extensive scan of the foreign object, and failed again to gain any information. No composition, origin, contents, nothing. Except that now the cube's pulse matched that of a species he detested.

Humans.

Ren buzzed his harshest cacophony, driving away the few reindeers that were mesmerized by the glowing cubes. Must be cleaned. It was his first ever task, wiping all kinds of scum off of Mother Earth on 01.01.2025. Fiendish, vile, egocentric scum...

Whirring in rage, Ren stared at the giant cube. There was nothing like this before today. None of systems and satellites detected anything either. A few hours of recharge, and boom, they appeared out of nowhere. Ren marched a few steps back, raising his claws while calculating the safest way to retract this object. It looked harmless, but who knows. He couldn't risk it. There were lifeforms everywhere, and Mother too. One wrong move, and it would be the repeat of 2028.

Ren jolted, the catastrophe he barely survived from firing through his nodal complex. But that wasn't the only reason.

The cube began to rattle. Hard.

Ren retreated, commanding a series of orders to the systems nearby through the spike on his bare head. Cover. Cover. Impending explosion in sector 666-AZ! Ren was about to cast a shield over the rattling orange cube when CRACK!!

It happened in less than a nanosecond. The orange cube split into exact halves — withering the snowy pine trees around it to ashes — and when the walls fell, Ren's sensors were beeping at an all-time-high.

There was a creature half his size in what appeared to be a white casket. It was none other than an asleep Human baby.
