10. Harry's First Game
hopefully disaster
won't ensue

"Ron, did you kill it?" exclaimed Perry.
"Who cares," Harry muttered sitting up from the ground.
"Perry, you should really be thanking me right now," Ron said brushing dust from his shoulders.
"May I remind you if it wasn't for you we wouldn't be in this situation right now," Perry said grabbing Harry's wand out of the trolls nose.
Ron opened his mouth to form an apology to Hermione, but unfortunately he could not find the words. When he finally mustered up the courage to mutter an "Uhh" the four students could hear something echoing in the hallway. At first they thought another troll was coming after them. Perry rose her wand at the door, followed by Harry, then Hermione, and with a sigh, Ron.
The door burst open and each of them went pale when they saw those who had entered. Each of the children lowered their wands when they saw the stern faces of Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape. They were accompanied by Professor Quirrel who had a terrified expression written across his features.
Without a word, Professor Snape whisked over to the troll to examine it. Professor McGonagall was a different story. She stared intently at the children with a look of astonishment and disapproval laced into her features. Quirrel, on the other hand, took one look at the troll and let out a dog-like whimper.
"What on earth were you thinking of?" Professor McGonagall screeched. "You're lucky you weren't killed! Why weren't you in your dormitories?"
"Please Professor McGonagall— they were looking for me."
"Miss Granger!"
Perry's mouth gaped open ever so slightly when she heard the lie that Hermione told. She closed it quickly so that the Professors wouldn't catch it and question her.
"I went looking for the troll because I— I thought I could deal with it on my own— you know, because I've read all about them. If they hadn't found me, I'd be dead now. Harry stuck his wand up its nose and Ron knocked it out with its own club—and—and Perry helped me escape from the troll. They didn't have time to come and fetch anyone. It was about to finish me off when they arrived."
"And Miss Persephone," Professor McGonagall questioned, "I don't remember seeing you during supper."
"Yes, Professor, I-"
"She saw me running into the bathroom and came to check on me," Hermione cut in. "She was working on her History of Magic essay, that I was supposed to help her with, and was making her way back, but when she saw me she came running after me to make sure everything was okay. Of course, she didn't know about the troll, so that came at quite a surprise—"
"Okay, enough, Miss Granger," Professor McGonagall cut her off. "Miss Granger, five points will be taken from Gryffindor for this. I'm very disappointed in you. If you're not hurt at all, you'd better get off to Gryffindor Tower. Students are finishing the feast in their Houses."
"Well, I still say you were lucky, but not many first years could have taken on a full-grown mountain troll. You each win your houses five points. Professor Dumbledore will be informed of this. As for my students, you may go."
The three Gryffindors turned to look at Persephone with concerned expressions. She forced a smile onto her face to try and reassure them she was fine. Harry could physically feel the anxiety from Persephone.
"Miss Persephone," Professor Snape drawled out, "Usually I would not hesitate to give students of Slytherin House detention for such actions—" Persephone let her head drop and her eyes fall to her feet— "But—" Persephone looked up— "Because of certain circumstances I will leave you with a warning. Professor Quirrel, would you accompany Miss Persephone back to the Slytherin dormitories."
"Oh—oh-oh—uh— o-o-of c-course," Professor Quirrel stuttered.
It wasn't a very long walk back to the Slytherin common room, but it felt like hours with Quirrel beside her. She attempted to make small talk but he seemed to want to do anything but talk to the girl. Every time she looked at him he flinched away.
"Well, thank you, Professor Quirrel," she said with a smile as he nodded and left.
"Madness," she whispered to the stone wall. It rumbled and began to pull away.
Perry stepped through and the wall closed behind her. Many of the Slytherin students stared at her with bewildered looks; the others, mainly the upperclassmen, didn't care. She looked at them with tired eyes and limped over to the buffet table. She grabbed a buttered biscuit and sulked to the corner of the room.
"What's got your knickers in a twist."
Perry looked up at the voice with a glare. Draco Malfoy was standing there smirking, obviously looking for trouble.
"Go away," she mumbled.
"Oh, but I want to stay," he said sitting down. His friends stared at him from across the room. "Where were you?"
"What's it to you?" she snarled.
"If you haven't noticed I take pride in Slytherin house, and I wouldn't want a little disgrace like you to tarnish it's name."
"I think other wizards have done that plenty themselves-"
He stood up and shouted, "You filthy—"
She rose to meet him, "What? Filthy what? You don't know who I am!"
"I know you're a—"
"You really get my blood boiling," she said.
"Where were you!" he demanded.
"I helped defeat the troll! What did you do?"
He looked a little taken back, but it's not like he'd ever admit he was impressed. Persephone glared at him before marching up to her room with clenched fists by her sides. She slammed the door shut and got ready for bed.
When she came out of the bathroom she sat on her bed and let out a groan.
"Anger issues much," the short raven haired girl said from on top of her bed. She was sprawled our looking at Perry upside down.
Perry gave her a smile dripping with sarcasm before pulling the curtains around her bed closed. She flopped back in her bed and pulled the curtain back to grab her notebook and ink and quill off the nightstand. Before really going to bed she drew what she felt inspired to draw.
ϟ
Saturday was Harry's first ever Quidditch game and both children were nervous. Perry could feel Harry's nervousness in her veins, in her mind, and in her heart. Every spike of anxiety he felt, she felt too.
Perry woke up that morning to screaming. Pansy's loud, obnoxious shrieking.
"Would you shut up!" Viktorija screamed whilst throwing her pillow at her sister.
"There is a mouse hole behind my bed!" Pansy hyperventilated.
"Why don't I shove your head in it!" Viktorija seethed.
"Mouse!"
"Did you say mouse!"
The three girls, Pansy, Daphne, and Millicent, squealed in synchronization while jumping onto the farthest bed. Viktorija jumped out of bed and started screaming at her sister. Perry pushed away her curtains and shuffled over towards Pansy's bed. She crouched down and peered behind the mattress to see a dark hole between two of the stones in the wall.
"Well, it could just be—"
Then a mouse ran out. Perry used to live in a cupboard so she wasn't afraid of any mouse. She caught the mouse while the other three girls screamed in their high pitched voices and Viktorija started laughing uncontrollably.
"What do you have," Perry whispered looking at what the mouse was nibbling on. "A chocolate chip cookie? Who gives a mouse a cookie?"
"Can I see the mouse," Viktorija asked whilst laughing.
"Yeah, I guess so," she said, handing the mouse over to Viktorija.
Viktorija took the mouse and creeped closer and closer to the screaming girls on the bed. Pansy was throwing a hissy fit as her sister approached closer and closer. Perry smiled seeing the big bad bully being scared by her sister. Papery grabbed her clothes and towel, took one last glance ya the scene in front of her, and entered the bathroom.
ϟ
Perry laughed and laughed as the twins twirled scarves after scarves of red and gold around her at breakfast. She had asked them to get her a little something to support Harry but they had gotten a whole lot more than a little. They poured gold glitter in her hair and then pulled a red and gold hat over her head.
"That's my hat you know," Fred said as he pulled it farther over her head.
Perry lifted it up so it uncovered her eyes and looked at him, "You can wear it!"
"No, it's yours now lovie," Fred cheerfully replied.
"Mum knits us a whole set every year," George whispered from the other side of her. She decided to sit with the Gryffindors for breakfast today.
"Lucky for me then," Perry said as he pushed the hat farther onto her head.
Hermione was sitting across from George reading her book, Harry sat across from Perry looking sick, and Ron sat across from Fred eating as much as he could.
"Eat you two," Seamus said from down the table. "If you don't Ron will for both of you."
"I'm not hungry," both Harry and Perry said at the same time.
"Merlin, you two really are the same person," Dean said shaking his head.
Harry smiled and Perry said, "Except I'm a bit smarter and ambitious and he's a bit more nice and forgiving."
"I can be ambitious," Harry said.
"Well, lets hope so for today's game," Perry said putting a piece of toast in front of him.
"I'm not-"
"But you need some source of energy," Perry said stressing it in her eyes.
Harry looked away from her stare trying to resist her demand. When he looked back into her eyes he couldn't help but give in.
"Fine! One piece."
Perry smiled to herself as she took a double chocolate muffin off the table.
"You're gonna have to teach us that one," George whispered to her while Fred nodded his head in agreement.
By 11 o'clock everyone was making their way down to the Quidditch pitch. Harry, Fred, and George had left during breakfast. Perry, Ron,and Hermione were making their way down to the Quidditch pitch together.
"Hope Harry plays well," Ron said with food in his mouth.
"You're absolutely disgusting," Hermione said to Ron.
Perry didn't hear Hermione's statement and replied back to Ron's in a whisper. "You and me both."
Perry sat towards the end between Dean and Hermione. They all were holding a large banner for Harry they had worked on for a week before the match. Dean and Perry had done most of the work. Perry wrote Potter for President in a pretty font. Perry and Dean had done the drawings. Dean had drawn the lion and Perry drew the serpent. Then she magically charmed it so the lion ate the serpent.
"Look! Look! There they come!" Seamus screamed, pointing down at the pitch. Seven players wearing scarlet robes walked onto the field just as seven players wearing emerald walked out as well.
The crowd started to cheer even louder and Harry started getting more and more nervous. Perry could physically feel how nervous he was as if it were her own body.
The players mounted their brooms and flew to the middle of the field. Perry felt Harry's spirits rise internally.
Madam Hooch blew her whistle and the players zoomed to their places. Angelina Johnson was the first to the Quaffle and flew faster than lightning down to the Slytherin posts.
Perry watched in astonishment as the two teams played the game. She cheered loudly every time the Gryffindors recovered the Quaffle or scored.
"—was that the snitch?" Lee Jordan said from the commentators stand.
Everyone's attention snapped over to where the snitch had appeared behind Adrian Pucey's ear. Perry couldn't stop herself from laughing at him when he dropped the Quaffle.
Harry had seen the snitch and raced after it. Perry could feel the excitement coursing through Harry and she started jumping up and down. Terence Higgs, the Slytherin seeker, had seen the snitch too and rushed to get there before Harry.
Come on Harry, come on Harry, come on Harry, she thought to herself.
All of sudden Marcus Flint crashed into Harry's broomstick and sent Harry spinning around and holding on for dear life. The Gryffindors cheering section chorused "Foul!" while Madame Hooch went over to reprimand Flint. Perry was holding onto the railing with such a tight grasp she couldn't feel her hands.
Slytherin was now racking up the points. Perry wasn't watching the game. She was too preoccupied watching Harry being flung around on top of his broomstick.
"Get it together, Harry," she whispered under her breath.
The crowd started to whisper and point as Harry was tossed from side to side. After one violent lurch to the side he lost his balance and was hanging by one hand.
"Did something happen to it when Flint blocked him?" Seamus whispered.
"Can't have," Hagrid said, his voice shaking. "Can't nothing interfere with a broomstick except powerful Dark magic— no kid could do that to a Nimbus Two Thousand."
"No kid," Perry repeated. She met Hermione's eyes and then glanced up to the teachers stands.
Hermione grabbed Hagrid's binoculars from his hands and looked up towards the stands.
"Snape," she said.
"Let's go, " Perry said.
"Where are we—"
"Just follow," Perry said grabbing Ron's arm and following Hermione. By the time they arrived Slytherin had scored multiple times and Harry was still hanging on by one hand.
"Okay," Hermione whispered, "I only think we can crawl— I mean as long as none of us want to get detention or be expelled."
"Well, I'm the smallest," Perry said looking towards Hermione.
"Okay," Hermione said maneuvering so Perry was towards the stands, "Do you have a plan?"
"No, but I'll figure it out. I don't think Harry has that much longer." With that Perry snuck under the chair of Snape's row and started crawling towards him. Her face flushed with embarrassment when she hit a pressure point on poor Professor Quirrel's leg and sent him falling from his seat. When she made it to Professor Snape's seat she pulled out her wand and whispered an incantation. Blue flames shot from her wand and caught fire to Snape's long black robes. Perry quickly used a jar to capture the original blue flames.
Perry backed herself out and hoped off the stands. She stood in front of Ron and Hermione with a bright smile. Behind them the teachers were in full panic mode trying to put Snape out.
"Come on, " Hermione said, "Let's go."
Back at the Gryffindor cheering section they were able to watch Harry gain control over his broom and start after the snitch. Harry was diving straight at the ground and Perry couldn't help but grip the two people beside her's hands in fear. Harry clapped his hands to his mouth and Perry felt second hand embarrassment for him, but for whatever reason she felt excitement too. Was Harry excited about throwing up?
He crashed into the ground and Perry looked over the edge in such a hurry she nearly flew over the side. Harry coughed, and then something gold fell from his mouth and into his hand.
"He caught the snitch! He caught the snitch!" Perry screamed while jumping up and down.
