Chapter 18 : Someone to Protect
Tiffany hopped down from the taxi and paid the driver. She arrived at her church.
It was big with a touch of colonial style. A big bell elegantly hung on top of its tower. The double door entrance was tall, carved so beautifully. Tiffany
pushed the door and entered. The lobby was quiet. Only a guy bowed to her before he went out the church.
She faced another double door. Less elegant but in exchange it had golden handles. Tiffany opened the door, showing the high roof. The ceiling was
carved with the image of how Eden should be. The tinted glasses were huge on its sides, making the marble floor illuminated with colours. The rows for
congregation to sit down were long and sturdy made of oak wood.
Tiffany sat down on the empty bench in the front row at the church. She looked around. The chapel was empty, only a grandmother was praying across
the room on the second row, she was crying. Tiffany smiled.
"Could she also have someone she wants to protect to?" she whispered.
Tiffany looked to the empty podium where the priest usually gives speech. It looked so lonely without the priest behind it. But it was good, Tiffany
enjoyed moments of silence.
So she closed her eyes and prayed, as hard as she can.
"Please let them come home safely."

Hyoyeon informed Seunghyun that Eeteuk, Yuri and Jessica reached the third basement. Seunghyun wasn't happy, he climbed down from his office at
fifth floor and met with the rest of the squad at the lobby.
"Fill me in," he said.
"Eeteuk made a hole straight from up there to the second basement," said Sunny.
Seunghyun looked at the vertical tunnel Eeteuk had made and he frowned. Under his feet, two floors beneath, four Gifted men were rampaging.
"He passed the second basement already?" he asked.
"Yes," Sunny nodded.
"How many casualties?" Seunghyun looked around.
"None."
"None?"
"They were brutal with their lightnings but they kill no one."
Seunghyun looked around him. The headquarters was a mess, "could we win this war?"
"I'm not sure. We have Taeyeon on our hand though,"
Seunghyun turned to her, "what?"
"Princess had her cornered."

Eeteuk, Yuri and Jessica stood inside a huge containment facility room. Everything was white. In front of them was a corridor with two doors on its side,
at the end, a huge iron door awaited.
"You know, it seems like that door is saying, "Siwon is here, come and get him," don't you think?" Eeteuk asked.
"Yeah, but that means they made it easy for us," Yuri answered, "and they never made it easy for us."
"So you're saying it's a trap?"
"Oppa, ever since we landed our asses here, we already fell into their grasp," Yuri tilted her head.
"True," Eeteuk nodded, "so we have nothing to lose. Charge!"
Yuri and Eeteuk shot their lightnings at the iron door but it didn't budge. Instead, the two doors on the corridor opened up and four canisters came out
from it.
"What the--?" Eeteuk squeaked.
The canisters exploded and blinded them. Yuri instinctively pulled Jessica closer to her. Their ears seemed like it were pierced by needles. Their brains
went fuzzy and they all fell to the ground.
Footsteps were closing in. Jessica panicked, she squeezed Yuri's hand.
"Don't? let go!" Yuri hissed.
"I got you!" a guy hit Yuri's stomach, lifted her up to the air and slammed her to the floor. Then the guy attacked Eeteuk, kicking him and punching.
Jessica crawled back and pressed herself to the wall, confused, blind and deaf. Her body ached all over and she heard voices in her head. Jessica shook
her head violently, her visions were coming back a little bit. The white smokes still covered the room, she could see two people struggling with each
other inside the smoke.
Yuri? Oppa?
She wasn't sure, she can't even control her brain to think.
It was Junsu. He set up traps in the room for this moment. Comfortable with his mask, he could see clearly through the smoke and breathes clean air.
Before him was Eeteuk, crouching with pain. Junsu smiled. He raised his fist again and smacked Eeteuk's head over and over. Eeteuk swung his arms
viciously between the confusion but useless. His body won't listen.
"The Pandora effect is truly amazing!" Junsu laughed.
He turned around and found a girl lying on the floor, gasping and coughing.
"You're next," Junsu reached his gun and pointed it to the girl. Suddenly his body got hit by an invisible force, crushing and sent him flying across the
corridor, hitting the iron door.
The smoke suddenly cleared away. Yuri coughed and little by little, her conscious was coming back. Jessica was standing in the middle of the corridor,
her eyes were shining blue.
Jessica? she?. She can't be.
Jessica roared and the iron door collapse on top of Junsu with a loud bang. Jessica ran out of breath and fell on her feet. Yuri caught her.
"Sica!" Yuri slapped softly on Jessica's cheeks.
"I'm fine," Jessica smiled.
Eeteuk walked toward the collapsed iron door. Behind the iron door was Siwon, tied on a chair. He was conscious but seemed a little out of it. He was
sedated.
"Yuri, help me," Eeteuk ran to Siwon.
"You okay? You okay on your own?" she asked Jessica before running off to Eeteuk.
Jessica nodded.
"Stay here! I'll be right back," Yuri ran to Siwon.
She helped Eeteuk release Siwon's binds by transferring electricity to the chains, cutting them.
"Oppa," Yuri said, "did you see what I see?"
Eeteuk looked up, "yeah."
"She's a Potential."
Eeteuk didn't answer.
Siwon fell to the floor on his shoulder when the binds were all broken. "We need to get Taeyeon. Siwon can't use his skills in this state."
Yuri nodded and she put Siwon on Eeteuk's back. Yuri realized Jessica wasn't at the corridor.
"Where is she? Jessica! Jessica!" she ran around and found Jessica in a room where the Pandora canister came out.
It was a briefing room. A white board stood at the end of the room with a huge table filled with archives and folders in front of it. Hung on the white
board, were photographs. Jessica was standing in front of it, looking at the photographs.
"Sica! Let's go!" Yuri pulled Jessica, but she refused to go. "Jessica!"
"It's the orphanage," she mumbled.
"What?"
"It's the orphanage, Yuri. They're going for the orphanage again!"
Yuri took another look at the pictures. The pictures were showing the orphanage and the landscape around it. The pictures were circled and had lines
like it how a family tree should like. One line stretched out from the orphanage picture to another picture, Seohyun picture.
"She's my sister!"
Eeteuk shouted, "you two, let's go!"
Yuri yanked Jessica harder and they ran along the corridor to the entrance door. Yuri touched the handle and the handle was burning.
"Oppa, the door is burning," Yuri said.
Eeteuk didn't respond. He was scared to imagine what happened behind the door. Taeyeon was there.
Yuri kicked the door opened and when it crumbled, a hot air flowed out. Eeteuk pulled back and Yuri turned her face the other way while Jessica hid
behind Yuri's back. The room was dark and looked like it was burned.
Eeteuk quickly came in and scanned the room. Taeyeon was on the floor, sitting and looking down to her hands.
"Taengoo!" he called. Taeyeon looked up.
"Oppa, hey, you saved Siwon-oppa," she smiled.
Yuri and Jessica came in too.
"You okay, Taengoo?" asked Yuri.
Taeyeon stood up and nodded, "I'm fine, just a little scared."
