Chapter 29 : Placing Trusts
Yoona came out of a small caf? with bagles. She hopped in her car and threw the bagles to the girl on the passenger seat.
"Thanks," Yuri smiled.
"Every morning you got to have bagles?"
Yuri nodded, "and ma juice."
Yoona started her car and drove away.
"How do you know about the facility?" asked Yoona.
"I've been there."
"What do you mean you've been there?"
"They caught me once," Yuri offered Yoona a bagle. Yoona refused.
"The organization caught you?"
"When I was fourteen, then I got away and Eeteuk-oppa found me."
Yoona thought for a while, "I suppose you're not gonna tell me where Eeteuk is, huh?"
Yuri didn't answer the question.
Yoona started the car and they drove away.
"Truthfully I didn't expect you to just nod along when I say I want you to take me to the facility. I was expecting a bit more of a resistance."
"Believe me, I would refuse if I have other choice," Yuri said.
Yuri had no place to go after the battle with Jessica. Eeteuk, Taeyeon and Tiffany surely already heard about what happened from Jessica, thus Yuri
couldn't go back to the house. Embarrased. But then again, staying with Yoona was not entirely safe either, this girl, though Yuri sensed no harm from
her, she was the Princess, and there was no guarantee that Yoona won't report her to the organization.
"And you, do you really believe that I will take you to the facility?" asked Yuri.
"I do."
Yoona was too casual.
"Can you really take me there?" Yoona asked again just to be sure.
"It's easier from the sky, though. I never travel by car," Yuri said.
"Well, I'm not going to fly, so we're driving."
"Still refusing to admit that you are a Gifted, huh?"
"Yes."
Yuri laughed at Yoona's bluntness. In the end, the Princess was just a little girl after all.
"What did they do to you?" Yoona said.
Yuri looked out the car's window. She didn't want to remember the day she got caught. Although fuzzy, she still felt the pain, the fear she experienced
when she was fifteen.
Yuri closed her eyes.
It was an ordinary day when she came home from her school. Her backpack was filled with homework and she was happy for it. She loves doing
homework after school before turning in for supper. The crows were squawking in the electric pole on the side of the road. From the empty road in front
of her, she saw a black van coming toward her, closer and closer. And the next thing she remembered was waking up in a surgery room. People in
white and masks were circling her, saying stuff she didn't understand. And then the pain in her head, it was like her brain suddenly melted away. Her
bloods seemed to be sucked dry.
No matter how hard she screamed those people didn't seem to listen.
"Jessica," Yoona pulled Yuri back to reality, saying the name Yuri wanted to forget so badly.
"What?"
"I saw Jessica has the same bracelet," Yoona continued.
Yuri looked to her wrist.
"Is there? something special between you two?"
"Just shut up and drive," Yuri looked back out the window.
"Are you scared?" Yoona asked again.
"Stop making small talk. I'll show you the way to the facility and you?."
"I am scared."
Yoona seemed really serious.
"I'm scared I will put someone I love in danger, for just being myself," she said, "don't you scared, Yuri?"
Yuri averted her eyes back to the buildings outside of the car. She was scared. That's why she would go as far as to burn Jessica's orphanage so Yoona
and the organization won't get to her.
"Thanks," Yoona sighed, "I really enjoyed this talk. I could never be myself around anyone. Not with my unnies, not Seohyun. With you, I can speak for
who I really am."
Yuri felt some sympathy in her, "talk all you want."

Tiffany led Jessica into a mall. Jessica obediently followed the chirpy girl when she stopped at an expensive looking clothes store.
"Here," Tiffany took a white tee shirt, "it would look good on you."
Jessica just smiled, "sorry I keep wearing your clothes, Fany-ah."
"Naah, I love it when people use my clothes. It gave me reasons to brag about them," Tiffany grinned, "but you do need your own clothes."
"Thanks."
"Oh!" Tiffany spotted a cute pair of pink shoes, "omo! These shoes are great! But the heels are too high, I think. Let's find some flat shoes instead. Ooh,
dresses!"
Tiffany moved swiftly around another counter and stopped in the dress section. She rummaged through the hanging dresses, smiling so happily.
"What would match your golden hair, Jessica? Hm?" Tiffany rubbed her chin, "but dresses make you a bit giddy when you move? it would be hard to
wear in battles too. But it's good for a mood change."
Tiffany took backless dress and looked at herself in the mirror. "This would look good on you, Sica? but I think Taeyeon will get aroused by it. She gets
aroused easily? maybe I should buy it?," Tiffany smiled, "but if I would to buy one for me to impress Taeyeon then? maybe a buttless dress would be
perfect," she laughed at her own joke. "Disgusting, Fany-ah, disgusting," Tiffany shook her head.
Tiffany walked over the dress section and stopped at the lingerie section. "Hm? do you need lingerie, Jessica?" she asked.
No answer.
"Jessica?" Tiffany looked to her side. Jessica wasn't there. "Jessica?"
Tiffany looked around the store and found Jessica was sitting in the corner of the store, holding her head with both hands.
"Jessica?" Tiffany crouched before her, "hey, are you okay?"
Jessica didn't hear Tiffany, her head was ringing so bad and painful.
"Jessica? Hey," Tiffany held her friend's hand, "are you okay? Are you tired?"
Jessica was out of breath. She looked straight to Tiffany's eyes and smiled.
"I'm fine, it was just? a little headache," she said.
"But you looked really awful. Maybe we should go home," Tiffany pulled her hand.
"Um," Jessica refused, "I'm sorry but?."
Tiffany listened very closely.
"I think I want to be alone for a while," Jessica said.
Tiffany frowned, "Jessica, I told you we are family, you can tell us everything, anything."
Jessica smiled and nodded, "yes, I know, thank you. But, I think? I need to figure something out first."
Tiffany didn't want to leave Jessica alone, she was still holding her hand.
"Will you be okay by yourself?" she asked.
Jessica nodded.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
Tiffany stood up and walked back, her face still looking at Jessica. "Come home, okay? And be careful."
Jessica smiled as an answer.
**
"Is that it?" asked Yoona as she put the car's gear on neutral position.
Yoona and Yuri stopped at the side of a single road in the middle of a forest. A few blocks away from their car, stood a huge building, shaded by white
mist caused by the cold weather.
"Yes, that's the Blood Facility," said Yuri. She swallowed her saliva. She never once thought of coming back to this place.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"We've been lost for a hundred times now. Are you sure that that building is the Blood Facility?" Yoona asked to make sure that they were in the right
place.
Being on the car and not in the sky had made Yuri quite confused and mistaken the road again and again.
"Yes, Princess! That is the Blood Facility," Yuri scoffed, "if only we were flying."
"How do we get in?" asked Yoona.
"That's your job. Mine is to take you here only, remember?"
Yoona crossed her arms, thinking. Could she just drive up to the gate, show her badge and get in? Or would it take a high officer to get there? It would
be suspicious for a low rank agent to just go in there.
"Yuri, how did you escape?" she asked.
Yuri sighed, "do you really want me to take that memory lane again?"
"It's just? maybe we can go in from the way you got out."
"There was a riot at the facility. I got out during the chaos."
Yoona curled her lips, "fine. I can lie and show my badge but I don't think my lowly rank would get us too far." Yoona hopped down from the car and
stood on the wet asphalt. A snow fell to her shoulder and then she looked to the sky.
"First snow," Yuri jumped out of the car and smiling, "look, Yoona. Yoona?"
Yuri turned to the side and found no Yoona.
"Yoona?"
Suddenly a blunt object hit Yuri's head, knocked her unconscious.
"Sorry, Yuri," Yoona whispered.
