Chapter 39 : Two Days Earlier

It was an ordinary night in South Korea where stars twinkled on the black canvas of the winter sky, guiding the sailours home. The heavy ocean waves

struck themselves over and over again to the peer's edge, making a huge cold splashes.

A guy was running scared along the peer, panting. His black jacket waved behind him like a cape, showing the white letters saying GDO on it.

Something was aftering him.

He panickedly reload his gun but his hand was trembling too much he dropped it to the ground. He cursed to his own sloppiness.

His body lifted up to the sky and slammed the ground. He dislocated his shoulder.

"Spare me?," he said, almost crying.

A foot plummeted to his head. The grown man screamed in agony.

"Spare you!? You guys started the war, I just following up what you started," the owner of the foot asked with deafening voice.

"I have a wife and two kids," he sobbed, "you got to let me live."

The foot lifted only to let a hand grabbed on the man's collar. The man now faced his pursuer. A girl, long haired and nothing could beat her beauty. But

the man cried harder. He had seen the face too many times. He even prayed every night before his sleep not to let destiny collides his path with hers.

"Oh, come one, you're lucky," the girl said, "you'll die tonight and you don't have to see the judgement day I have in store," the girl smirked, "for

Korea."

The man regretted his life up to that point and when he was about to let anything happens, the girl struck by lightning and disappeared into the cold

ocean. The man cried in relieves but his eyes were still looking at the bubbling ocean water.

Two lightnings shot up from the water, high to the sky before it went down and hit a lighthouse.

"I saved by the one I hunt," destiny had its irony.

Gaea broke every pillars, the circling iron stairs and light bulbs as she stumbled down the structures of the lighthouse and landed on her back, causing her to suffocate.

She clenched her teeth, angry.

A lightning came down from the top of the lighthouse straight at her. For human eyes, the lightning was just mere electricity, but in Gaea's eyes, the

lightning was a girl.

Gaea pushed the girl by blowing a huge wind. The girl planted a kick on Gaea's face. Gaea grunted. That was the first blow she received in her whole life.

The Mother of Potentials flicked her fingers to create a huge sparks and burnt the lighthouse and then she ran away.

Her back struck by a lightning. It was hurt so bad, Gaea let out a scream and then she rolled on the ground. Gaea angrily stood up and faced the girl.

"You?," Gaea hissed.

What gave this girl such a power? No one had ever stood a chance against her, no one. But this girl laid two attacks already, and they were lethal.

"What's your name?" Gaea asked.

The girl said nothing.

"I never ask anyone this before but at least I need to know the name of a person who touched me?. Will you be so kind as to tell me?" Gaea smiled.

"Yuri," the girl narrowed her eyes, focused and ready to attack, "my name is Kwon Yuri."

Two days after Taeyeon's death, Eeteuk's scanner started to busy. Every day was the same report, several agents and several civilians found dead,

sometimes with a bonus, a building or a house burning down.

Gaea had started a war.

Realizing that the first half of Gaea died, the organization's turned their head to find Jessica. Which means the orphanage, Mother, Seohyun and

everyone related to her were automatically in danger. The organization was desperate.

Meanwhile, another thing bothered Yuri.

Yuri couldn't shake the fact that Jessica was really a part of Gaea. And how one day, she or someone has to kill her.

Jessica was the same. She was scared to death that one night, a cold winter night, she slipped out of her room and knocked at Yuri's door.

"Yuri-ah?," she said softly.

Yuri answered with a groan.

Jessica pushed the door opened and peeked in. Her pillow in her hands and she tied her hair behind her head. She made puppy eyes and asked, "are

you awake?"

Yuri opened her eyes a bit and frowned to Jessica, "I was asleep."

Jessica just smiled. She closed the door behind her and climbed up Yuri's bed. She circled her hand around Yuri's waist and buried her face in Yuri's

back.

"Your radiator broke?" Yuri asked.

Jessica shook her head.

"Then what's up?"

"Nothing."

And then silent filled the room. Yuri's breath became slower and when she was about to go into her dream, Jessica spoke.

"I called Seohyun today," she said.

"Hm, and?" Yuri lazily replied.

"Seohyun said she wanted to meet us. She's bringing Yoona."

Yuri lost in her thought, Yoona wanted to meet her. Something was not right.

"Something's bothering me," Jessica continued, "why did she thank you the other day?"

"You met her somewhere after the hospital, Yuri?" Jessica opened her eyes to the dark hair of Yuri's.

"I did? a couple of times," Yuri yawned.

"Doing what?"

"Many things?," Yuri can't talk about what she did with Yoona. Jessica was still oblivious to Yoona's real identity.

"Many things!?" Jessica shot up.

Yuri looked behind and met Jessica's eyes. "Why are you so scared?"

"I'm not," Jessica laid her head back on the pillow.

"Are you jealous?"

Jessica's face turned pink in an instant.

"No, not that kind of 'many things', relax," Yuri turned around facing Jessica and snuggled her.

"I'm not jealous?," Jessica mumbled.

"You're not? That's a shame? I would love to see you jealous, it's cute," Yuri giggled.

"Ugh," Jessica yanked her head behind and stared at Yuri, "you wish."

Yuri smiled and then she closed her eyes, trying to go back to sleep.

"Actually?," Jessica spoke again.

Eeesh, this girl sure talks a lot tonight.

"I'll be glad if you met someone new and? you know? get intimate?," Jessica said.

Yuri spread her eyes open, "what?"

Jessica looked down to Yuri's neck, "it's just? it would be easier?."

"Easier?"

"For me to let go of you? and for you to let?."

Yuri supported her body on her elbow, "why would I let go of you and why would you let go of me?"

"Yuri? when something happens and if Gaea?."

"I will not let that happen!" Yuri shouted.

Jessica sighed helplessly.

"There must be a way."

"I just need to know you that you will do what it takes when?," Jessica choked on her own words, "when?."

Yuri kissed Jessica to shut her up. The girl instantly lost her whole strength and she gave in to Yuri's lips.

Yuri broke the kiss and looked into Jessica's eyes.

"I--," Jessica gasped for air, "um--."

"Now go to sleep," Yuri kissed Jessica's brow.

Jessica argued no more, she obediently closed her eyes and went to sleep. It was cute to see how a kiss could tame the girl.

Yuri drowned in her thoughts of killing Gaea. She had to kill her. There was no other choice if she wanted to save Jessica.

With that thought, Yuri laid sleepless for the rest of the night.

"I don't think I'm strong enough to let you go," she whispered and she snuggled Jessica even tighter.

**

Yuri kicked the ground and charged at Gaea. Their bodies clashed and caused a great thunder roar. They flew to the night sky. Yuri wrapped her fists

with lightning and then hit Gaea with all she had.

High up in the clouds Yuri felt like she was winning.

But then Gaea yanked Yuri's arm, so hard her shoulder dislocated. Gaea swiftly sent thousands volts of electricity into Yuri's body, rendered her

vulnerable. With one move, Gaea sent Yuri cometting to the ground.

Yuri hit the cold peer's ground. She grunted.

Her whole body ached. She raised and supported her body on both knees.

"Dang!" she cursed. She couldn't move her left arm. Her breath was heavy, that fall made two or three of her ribs broken.

Yuri looked to the sky. She couldn't find Gaea.

"She could be anywhere," she mumbled. She concentrated her whole power to her palm, making a huge spark and ready to attack.

Where are you?

The peer was empty. There was no movement at all.

Cold wind grazed Yuri's face and then she twitched in pain. Gaea had given her a cut on the corner of her right eye.

Yuri felt her ribs clacking, they were healing.

[i]I can go on, I can win. She boosted her own morale with the words.

Then a huge pick up car, stumbling in the air, flew across the peer and fell on top of Yuri.
