Chapter 7 : Into the New World
Sooyoung pointed her gun to the lying girl under a burning tree. She was smiling. Sooyoung shot her in the stomach, but she knew the Gifted could heal
faster than normal human.
"Tsk, I thought the Princess who's going to kill me?" the girl laughed.
"Shut up, Kwon," Sooyoung stopped at the girl's feet, her gun went up to the girl's head. "You're going to die, by me."
"Oh, no she's not," a voice called up.
Sooyoung turned. Panicked, she lifted her gun but she was too late, a lightning struck her, lifted her off the ground and landed on the soft grass.
"Kim Taeyeon," her chest was burning and her head was ringing badly.
Taeyeon walked to Yuri and helped her up.
"Where have you been?" Yuri clenched her teeth, enduring the pain in her stomach. But she was glad, having Taeyeon on her side was the same with
having three hundred men.
"I had to take care of the guys in front of the orphanage," Taeyeon shrugged, "you got shot?"
Sooyoung could hear them talking but her whole body was heavy. Taeyeon got her bad.
"I'm fine. The girl is inside. Jessica. She's inside that building," Yuri smiled and pointed the classroom with her thumb.
"Fine, you go get her, I'm gonna take care of this girl," Taeyeon cracked her fingers and walked towards Sooyoung.
Sooyoung coughed. She saw her hope walking out from the orphanage in a form of an agent, Princess. Princess cocked her rifle and open fire. Taeyeon
was swift, she turned her attention to the Princess, depleting the tranquilizer bullets with her mind. Yuri ran across the courtyard, heading to the
classroom.
Sooyoung shook her head, throwing aside the pain in her head. She fired at Yuri.
The bullet cuts the air and before it reaches Yuri, Yuri covered by blue lights and shot up to the sky. She became a lightning. The lightning came back
down to Sooyoung. She saw it coming and dodged it, but the spark burnt her boots. It was never easy to dodge a lightning.
The light dimmed, revealing Yuri from inside it. She ran to the classroom again. Sooyoung back on her feet, reload her gun. She will not let Yuri live.
Sooyoung pulled the trigger hard. She could felt the recoils bounced back to her shoulder, but her bullet flew to the wrong directions. Taeyeon! She
turned to the side, Taeyeon was smiling at her, the Princess was on the ground, but not for long. She came back up, rifle at ready.
Taeyeon's body shone bright blue and then she came at Sooyoung. Large explosion shook the ground again.
Inside the classroom, Jessica was hugging Seohyun. It was like hiding from a war. Blue lights flashes every second from the window curtain. And the
ground shook again and again. The children were crying, so was Mother. They all crowded up in the corner of the room. Not knowing what was
happening.
The classroom door knob turned violently from the outside. Someone was trying to come in. Mother shrieked, the children screamed. Then the door
flew, broke into pieces by a small lightning. Yuri came in, holding the bleeding wound on her stomach.
"Jung Jessica!" she shouted.
Seohyun tighten her grasp on Jessica, scared.
"Jessica?" Yuri lowered her voice.
An explosion shook the ground again. Yuri flinched and looked outside. She turned back to the scared crowd, "Jessica?"
Jessica looked at Yuri's eyes. It was the same painful eyes she saw this morning.
"What do you want?"
Yuri smiled, she found her.
"I'm here to save you. They came for you, and they are not afraid to harm anyone that comes between you and them," Yuri showed Jessica her wound.
"Why me?"
"I'll explain, but for now, we need to go."
An agent, thrown out from outside through the window, flew to the classroom and fell hitting a blackboard.
"Taengoo! Don't throw people in here!" Yuri shouted.
"Sorry, I missed the Princess!" her friend shouted back.
"Go away! She's not gonna go with you!" Seohyun yelled.
Yuri sighed. "This is not a choice," Yuri took a step forward, "look at that guy. His guns will hurt these children. Your family. You have to go with me."
Mother threw Yuri a blackboard eraser. Her eyes were teary, "I swear to God, if you're not out of here by this minute, I will kill you, hurt you for ruining
my orphanage!"
"I'm here to help," Yuri pleaded.
An explosion happened again, and after that, everything became quiet.
"Taeyeon couldn't hold them forever."
Taeyeon was on her knees. A bullet grazed her shoulder. Not so much of a wound but she was surprised.
"You're getting better, Princess," Taeyeon smiled.
The Princess reloaded her gun, she had switched to live ammo now. Sooyoung was on Taeyeon's back, also with her gun ready.
Taeyeon blinked her eyes. Once, twice and she was at another place. She was at a gazebo in the middle of a garden. Yuri was standing in front of her.
"What?" she asked Taeyeon.
"This is getting annoying."
"Yeah, but I need more time convincing the girl," Yuri crossed her arms.
"Drag her if you must. Princess is getting out of hand."
"Fine."
Taeyeon blinked again and she was back at the courtyard of the orphanage.
Yuri walked to Jessica. The children screamed, Mother charged at her. Yuri softly pushed Mother, she fell to the floor. Seohyun slapped her, but Yuri
didn't stop.
"Jessica, their lives are in your hand," Yuri offered her a hand.
Jessica hesitated. Seohyun pulled her, "don't go," she pleaded with tears.
Yuri didn't say anything, she just looked directly to Jessica's eyes. Jessica fought between her logic and her heart. What if Yuri was saying is true? That
she was the reason the orphanage attacked.
"Fine, but promise me they will be okay!" Jessica took Yuri's hand.
Yuri smiled.
"Unnie!" Seohyun screamed. She tried to catch Jessica's hand but Jessica stared down at her, telling her to stay.
"I'll be fine," she said.
Yuri pulled Jessica up, led her to outside.
"Jessica!" Mother screamed.
Jessica bit her lower lips. She took a last glance to Mother.
"I'll be fine! Don't worry!" she said once again to assured them.
"We have to run. Don't let go of my hand," Yuri gritted Jessica's hand tighter.
Jessica nodded.
"Taengoo!" Yuri nodded to her friend.
Taeyeon grinned. And when she saw Yuri was running away from the orphanage with Jessica, she turned her head to the last two agents in the
courtyard.
"Enough for one night," Taeyeon clenched her teeth. She felt her whole body trembled, her vision turned blue and she turned into a giant blue light, shot
up to the sky, lifting the ground, and throwing Princess and Sooyoung to the air. Princess shot the sky with her remaining bullets, hoping she would hit
Taeyeon, but the pale girl had gone, flew to the sky.
"Damn it!" Sooyoung cursed.
**
Jessica was running through the narrow pathway between ricefields and farms behind the orphanage with Yuri holding her hand, leading her. Jessica felt
something tugged her heart, every step she took, the farther she was from the orphanage, from her home.
Yesterday she was a normal college girl, tonight she ran for her life in the hand of a stranger to a world unknown to her. A tear dropped to her cheek.
They went into a small forest on a hill. Yuri leaned on a tree, checking her wound. It was still bleeding. One hand still holding Jessica's hand, she turned
to the girl. Jessica was crying.
Yuri's heart stopped. Why did the girl's tears hurt her so much?
