[LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO]

1.01 || not your everyday witch

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

"Marcel, why am I chasing the tail of two meaningless vampires when I am supposed to be keeping tabs on Klaus?"

Tatum holds her phone to her ear as she drives, watching the car in front of her. "Because those vampires are your ticket to Elijah. And that is your best way to keep tabs on Klaus without aligning yourself with Klaus himself." Marcel responds and Tatum rolls her eyes.

"How exactly is it I am supposed to convince these vampires to trust me?" Tatum asks.

"You know how to lie. I'm sure you'll figure it out." Marcel responds and Tatum sighs.

"Is Davina okay?" Tatum asks.

"Davina's fine, Tay. I'll keep her safe. The witches aren't getting anywhere near her. I promise." Marcel says and Tatum nods a little.

"Okay. I'm gonna go. He's pulling into a driveway." Tatum says.

"I'll talk to you when you've spoken to Elijah. And remember,"

"Originals don't go down easy, so don't provoke him. I know, Marcel. I'm not a fool." Tatum says.

"Be careful, Tay. I don't want to be the one who has to tell Davina that you've done something stupid and gotten yourself killed." Marcel says.

"Yes, okay. I promise I'll be careful. Bye, Marcel." Tatum says.

"Bye, Tay." He says before hanging up and Tatum puts her phone in the passenger seat as she slows the car to a stop at the bottom of the drive, watching the vampire she'd been following, Trevor, as he pulls a young girl out of the car, carrying her up to the house.

She waits until the front doors swing shut before parking her car up the drive and turning off the engine. She walks up to the house, carefully pushing open the doors, flicking her fingers to make them swing shut silently as she makes her way through the house.

Tatum uses her magic to silence her footsteps and mask her presence in the house as she listens to the female vampire, Rose, talk to the girl Trevor had carried into the house, her eyes faintly glowing red. "Oh my god, you look just like her." Rose says and Tatum tilts her head slightly as she shifts into a doorway, just out of view of the other two.

"But I'm not. Please, whatever you-"

"Be quiet!" Rose cuts the girl off.

"But I'm not Katherine. My name is Elena Gilbert; you don't have to do this." The girl says.

"I know who you are, I said be quiet." Rose responds.

"What do you want?" Elena asks and Tatum raises a brow when Rose slaps her, the girl falling to the sofa, unconscious.

"I want you to be quiet." Rose responds and Tatum watches her carefully, hovering in the doorframe as the vampire pulls out her phone.

She hovers until the woman puts her phone away, stepping through the doorway, her eyes still glowing red. "So, you're Rose." She says and the vampire turns to look at her, a stunned expression forming on her face.

"Who are you? Why didn't I know you were here?" Rose asks.

"Because, darling, I have ways to shield myself from those pesky vampire senses of yours." Tatum responds.

"Who are you? What are you doing here?" Rose asks.

"I'm here for Elijah. Not you. Don't worry." Tatum responds.

"For Elijah? To do what? Kill him? He can't be killed." Rose says and Tatum smiles.

"Oh, I am well aware. I don't want to kill him. I want to use him." Tatum says.

"Use him? Are you delusional?" Rose asks and Tatum shrugs gently.

"Possibly. It doesn't change my intentions." The witch responds, moving to walk behind the sofa, glancing down at the girl lying on it.

"You still haven't told me who you are. Or what you are." Rose says and Tatum hums, trailing her fingers along the back of the sofa.

"No, I don't suppose I have. And I don't intend to. I don't give my name out to potential enemies. I know better, Rose." Tatum says.

"I never told you my name." She says.

"No, you didn't. But I do my research. And I've been keeping tabs on you and your friend, Trevor for days now. Waiting." Tatum responds.

"For Elijah?" Rose asks.

"Yes. For Elijah. I needed to get to him, and you were my way to get to him." Tatum says.

"And what if I don't want to help you?" Rose asks and Tatum lifts her hand, a faintly red glow surrounding her hand.

"You don't have a choice." She says, looking up at the vampire, her eyes glowing red again and Rose takes a step back. "Do you understand?" Tatum questions and Rose hesitates for a moment before nodding. "Good." The witch says.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

Tatum sits back in the chair near the sofa, idly playing with her magic, wisps of it dancing around her fingers as Rose and Trevor talk upstairs, no doubt about her. "Who are you?" The witch glances over at the girl, Elena, on the sofa.

"Nobody you need to worry about. For now." Tatum responds and Elena stares at her for a moment longer before her attention is drawn to the second floor and Rose and Trevor's conversation.

"How's the girl?" Rose asks.

"Still passed out." Trevor responds.

"You didn't touch her, did you?" She asks and Tatum glances briefly at the girl on the sofa.

"Give me some credit. So, you called him?" He asks and Tatum looks up at the two vampires.

"No, I called one of his contacts. You know how this works." Rose responds.

"Did you or did you not get the message to Elijah?" Trevor asks.

"They say he got it." Rose responds and Tatum tilts her head slightly.

"Wonderful and what?" Trevor asks and Tatum rolls her eyes briefly when Elena gets up, walking towards the staircase.

Did she not understand vampire senses?

"So that's it, Trevor. He either got it or he didn't. We just have to wait." Rose responds.

"Look, it's not too late. We can leave it here. We don't have to go through with this. We can still leave the girl for Elijah. Especially if the freaky girl down there is waiting for him." Trevor says and Tatum rolls her eyes again.

"I'm sick of running!" Rose responds.

"Yeah? Well, running keeps us from dying." Trevor retorts.

"Elijah's old school. If he accepts our deal, we're free." Rose says until Elena steps on a loose floorboard and it squeaks, drawing the two vampires' attention to her. "You! There's nothing around here for miles. If you think you're getting out of this house, you're tragically wrong. Understand?" Rose asks.

"Who's Elijah?" Elena questions.

"He's your worst nightmare." Rose responds and Tatum smiles slightly in amusement, shaking her head a little.

"Who's she?" Elena asks and Tatum glances up at her.

"We don't know." Rose admits.

"She's not with you?" Elena asks.

"No." Trevor responds.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

Tatum moves towards the doorway of the room Elena and Rose were in, hovering just outside to listen. "Why am I here?" Elena asks.

"You keep asking me these questions like I'm gonna answer them." Rose retorts.

"Why won't you?" Elena asks.

"That's another one." Rose says.

"You got me, okay? It's not like I can go anywhere. The least you can do is tell me what you want with me." Elena says,

"I personally want nothing; I'm just a delivery service." Rose says and Tatum rolls her eyes.

So much for not answering her questions.

"Delivery to who? Elijah?" Elena asks.

"Two points to the eavesdropper." Rose responds.

"Who is he? Is he a vampire?" Elena asks.

"He's one of the vampires. The Originals." Rose says and Tatum rolls her eyes again briefly.

"What do you mean, the Originals?" Elena asks.

"Again, with the questions. Haven't the Salvatores been teaching you your vampire history?" Rose asks, slightly impatiently.

"So, you know Stefan and Damon?" Elena says.

"I know of them. A hundred years back, a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good ones. I'm more of a sucker for the bad boys though, but I digress." Rose says.

"Who are the Originals?" Elena asks.

"Trevor and I have been running for five hundred years. We're tired, we want it over. We're using you to negotiate ourselves out of an old mess." Rose explains.

"But why me?" Elena asks.

"Because you're a Petrova Doppelganger. You're the key to breaking the curse." Rose responds.

"The curse? The sun and moon curse?" Elena asks.

Tatum frowns slightly with an amused smile at how ridiculous the concept of what they were talking sounded. She really hoped the reality wasn't as ridiculous as it sounded.

"Oh, you do know your history." Rose says.

"What do you mean, I'm the key? The moonstone is what breaks the curse." Elena says.

"No, the moonstone is what binds the curse. The sacrifice is what breaks it." Rose responds.

"The sacrifice?" Elena asks.

"The blood of the doppelganger. You're the doppelganger. Which means, in order to break the curse, you're the one who has to die." Rose says and Tatum steps into the doorway. "You have to stop sneaking around. It's unsettling." Rose says and Elena looks over at her.

"The sun and moon curse. What is it?" Tatum asks.

"You don't know about the sun and moon curse?" Elena asks.

"Sweetheart, you don't know who the Original vampires are. Don't act like you're above me. It won't end well." Tatum says and Elena shifts back slightly.

"The sun and moon curse is what prevents vampires from walking in the sun and what prevents werewolves from having control over their shifts." Rose says. "It is said that the curse can only be broken for one species and that once it's broken for vampires, werewolves will be stuck turning every night of a full moon and if it's broken for werewolves, then vampires are stuck as night walkers for eternity." Rose says and Tatum hums, lifting her chin slightly, fighting the urge to roll her eyes.

So, it was as ridiculous as it sounded.

"Right." Tatum says. "Carry on." She says.

"Tell me more." Elena says after a moment, looking over at Rose.

"Captivity has made her pushy, eh? What do you want to know doppelicious?" Trevor asks, walking in the room and Tatum scrunches her nose up briefly.

"Who were you running from?" Elena asks.

"The Originals." Trevor responds.

"Yeah, she said that. What does that mean?" Elena asks.

"The first family, the old world." Trevor says.

"They're the first vampires. The oldest." Tatum says.

"Yeah, and Rose and I pissed them off." Trevor says, making the other vampire hum. "Correction, I pissed them off, Rose had my back for over half a millennium, they wanted us dead." Trevor explains.

"What did you do?" Elena asks.

"He made the same mistake countless others did. He trusted Katerina Petrova." Rose explains.

"Katherine." Elena fills in.

"The one and only. The first Petrova Doppelganger." Rose says.

"I helped her escape her fate and now I've- sorry, we've been marked ever since." Trevor explains.

"Which is why we're not gonna make the same mistake again." Rose adds.

"Why are you here?" Elena asks, looking at Tatum.

"I'm not answering any of your questions." Tatum says.

"Why not?" Elena asks.

"What did I just say?" Tatum asks before shaking her head a little and walking out of the room. "Teenagers." She mutters.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

Tatum sits back in the free chair as Rose moves her bag, glancing up briefly when Trevor rushes into the room. "He's here! This was a mistake." Trevor says frantically.

"He can probably hear you, you idiot." Tatum remarks dryly as she checks her nail polish.

"No, I told you I would get us out of this. You have to trust me." Rose says, ignoring the witch.

"No! He wants me dead, Rose!" Trevor argues.

"He wants her more." Rose argues.

"I can't do this. You give her to him; he'll have mercy on you, but I need to get out of here." Trevor says.

"Hey! What are we?" Rose asks.

"We're family. Forever." Trevor says.

Before someone knocks on the front door.

"You're scared." Elena says when they both glance at the door before Rose looks over at Elena.

"Good grief, give the girl a star." Tatum remarks and Elena rolls her eyes at her.

"Stay with her and don't make a sound." Rose says before glancing at Tatum. "Stay here." She says to the witch and Tatum raises a brow before inclining her head slightly.

She glances up when she hears them walking back into the room before Elijah moves straight over to Elena when she turns to look at them. Tatum raises a brow when he leans down to sniff her neck before shaking her head a little.

Freaking vampires.

"Human. It's impossible." He says after a moment, shifting back. "Hello there." He says before glancing around the room briefly, focusing on the witch when he sees her sitting down. "And who might you be?" Elijah asks.

"Right now? I'm someone who can help you. And that's all you need to know." Tatum says and he steps towards her.

"Do you know who I am?" Elijah asks.

"Just because you're a fancy Original vampire, doesn't mean I'm scared of you. And it definitely doesn't mean you can intimidate me. I'll answer your questions when we're not surrounded by people I have no intention of relinquishing that information to." Tatum says. "So, get what you came for so we can leave and talk." The witch says, raising a brow at him briefly.

He stares at her for a moment before turning towards Elena. "Yes, we have a long journey ahead. We should be going." Elijah says.

"Please, don't let him take me." Elena says, looking at Rose and Tatum tilts her head slightly.

"One last piece of business. Then we're done." Elijah says before stepping away from Elena, briefly casting a glance at Tatum.

"I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly very sorry." Trevor says as the Original steps towards him.

"Oh, no, your apology is not necessary." Elijah responds.

"Yes. Yes, it is. You trusted me with Katerina, and I failed you." Trevor says.

"Well, yes, you are the guilty one. And Rose aided you because she was loyal to you. That, I honour." Elijah says, pacing back and forth in front of him before stepping in front of him. "Where was your loyalty?" He asks.

"I beg your forgiveness." Trevor says.

"So granted." Elijah says and Tatum narrows her eyes at him briefly before rolling her eyes when he takes his head off with his hand.

Like she said. Freaking vampires. Weird and predictable.

Rose steps down the stairs, "You-"

"Don't, Rose. Now that you are free." Elijah says and the vampire stops, crying as she looks at Trevor's body. "Come." Elijah says, gesturing at Elena.

"No, what about the moonstone?" Elena asks and Elijah stops in front of her.

"What do you know about the moonstone?" He asks.

"I know that you need it. And I know where it is." Elena says.

"Yes?" Elijah prompts and Tatum lets her head drop back against the back of the chair impatiently.

"I can help you get it." Elena says.

"Tell me where it is." Elijah instructs and Tatum lifts her head to look at him incredulously.

"It doesn't work that way." Elena says.

"Are you negotiating with me?" Elijah asks, glancing at Rose.

"It's the first I've heard of it." Rose says before he looks back at Elena.

"You do realise she has the upper hand here, right? You can't kill her; you need her alive. And you also need the moonstone." Tatum says.

"I could kill you." Elijah says.

"Before finding out what I want? Not likely." Tatum responds and he looks back at Elena.

"What's this vervain doing around your neck?" Elijah asks after a moment and Tatum sighs impatiently as he pulls off the necklace, throwing it across the room.

"Well, that's a stupid way to prevent compulsion." Tatum remarks idly as she stares at the ceiling whilst Elijah grabs Elena's head.

"Tell me where the moonstone is." He says.

"In the tomb underneath the church ruins." Elena responds.

"What is it doing there?" Elijah asks.

"It's with Katherine." She responds.

"Interesting." Elijah remarks and Tatum glances up.

"Can we leave now?" Tatum asks before they hear a clatter and the witch pushes herself up out of the chair, her eyes faintly glowing red.

"What is that?" Elijah asks.

"I don't know." Rose responds.

"Who else is in this house?" He questions.

"I don't know." Rose says before Elijah grabs Elena's arm, dragging her towards Rose.

"You too." He says, gesturing at Tatum and she  flicks her wrist before appearing in the doorway at the top of the stairs, making him narrow his eyes at her. "What are you?" He asks and she shrugs before walking backwards through the door.

"You guys coming or what?" She calls before they follow her into the foyer.

The witch rolls her shoulders as she stands in the middle of the foyer, her eyes glowing red as someone moves around them using vampire speed before Elijah shoves Elena towards Rose. "Rose?" He asks.

"I don't know who it is." Rose responds as red wisps form around Tatum's fingers as someone moves past them again.

"Up here." Someone says and all of them glance towards the stairs, Elijah rushing part way up.

"Down here." Someone else calls and Tatum glances around before she hears a woosh of air and she looks up to see a wooden stake protruding from Elijah's hand before she realises Rose and Elena had disappeared.

"Where did they go?" Elijah asks.

"I don't know. I'm a little distracted. And I do believe watching them is your problem and not mine." Tatum retorts as he walks down towards her.

"Excuse me. To whom it may concern. You're making a grave mistake if you think you can beat me. You can't." Elijah says and Tatum rolls her eyes at his theatrics. "You hear that? I repeat, you cannot beat me." Elijah says, snapping the coat rack. "So, I want the girl on the count of three. Or heads will roll." Elijah says, snapping the hooks off the stand, followed by the top, turning it into a stake. "Do we understand each other?" Elijah asks.

"I'll come with you." Elena says and Tatum looks up to see her standing at the top of the stairs. "Just please don't hurt my friends. They just want to help me out." Elena says and he turns to look at her before rushing up the stairs, making the girl jump.

"What game are you playing with me?" Elijah asks before Elena throws something at Elijah and the witch throws her hands in the air in exasperation.

Jesus Christ. She should have just told Marcel no.

She folds her arms over her chest as she watches Elijah walk up the stairs, someone appearing around the corner, shooting something at him.

What the hell was wrong with these people?

"Oh, for the love of-" Tatum shakes her head, rolling her eyes when the other guy tackles Elijah down the stairs, both of them landing right at her feet.

Elijah gets straight back up before someone else appears, driving the broken coat rack through his chest, pinning him to the front door. "Oh, fantastic." Tatum says impatiently, pinching the bridge of her nose.

Rose appears from the other room, glancing at Elijah and then at Tatum before disappearing. "Just let her go." Elena says.

Tatum raises a brow at the three of them for a moment before tilting her head and using her magic to slam the dark-haired vampire into the door frame. "You have now seriously inconvenienced me." She says, using her magic to pin him to the doorframe.

"Wait, wait. Please don't hurt him. They're just helping me." Elena says.

"I don't care. I needed Elijah." Tatum says.

"Please, let him go and we'll find a way to help you." Elena says and Tatum scoffs.

"Oh, for Christ's sake. No thank you. I'd much rather continue on my own." Tatum says before using her magic to send the vampire flying through the window by the door. "Please, feel free to leave." She says, gesturing in the direction she'd just flung the vampire.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

She sighs when they leave before settling down on the bottom step of the staircase, leaning back on the one above. If Marcel was right, then Elijah wasn't dead. She just had to wait him out.

Tatum looks up when he finally moves later that night to see the grey fading before he pulls the stake out of his chest, dropping it to the floor. He looks at the witch after dropping it before stepping towards her as she pushes herself up to her feet. "Who are you?" He asks.

"My name is Tatum Claire. I'm a witch. And I need your help." Tatum says.

"A witch? I've never seen a witch do what you did. I've never met a witch who's eyes glow." He says.

"I'm not your everyday witch. My magic's a little different." Tatum responds and he hums.

"Need my help with what?" He asks.

"Keeping an eye on your brother. Understandably, witches are getting a little wary about his behaviour. As are many vampires and werewolves." She says.

"You want me to help you keep tabs on my brother? A witch I know nothing about. Aside from your alleged name?" Elijah asks.

"Yeah, pretty much." Tatum responds.

"I don't believe I will." He says.

"Sure, you will. Because if you help me, I'll help you." Tatum says.

"And what is it you think I need help with?" Elijah asks.

"Whatever curse you're trying to break that you need the moonstone for and that doppelganger." Tatum says.

"The sun and moon curse." Elijah says.

"Don't pull that crap with me. I know full well the 'sun and moon curse' is a load of bull. I mean the real curse. Not the lie that has been fabricated as, I assume, a cover-up." Tatum says and he stares at her contemplatively. "So, do we have a deal?" She asks, holding her hand out in front of her.

He stares at her for a moment before taking her hand and then pulling her towards him. "If I find out you've lied to me, the consequences will be dire." Elijah says lowly.

"Didn't we already discuss just how not scared I am of you, Elijah?" Tatum asks and he hums. "So, we have a deal?"

"Yes, I believe we do." He responds and she nods.
