The Sticky Yellow Sticky Note Of Yellow Stickiness
The four Rangers entered Bree just as a rainstorm began. It seemed like everytime someone came to Bree it was raining.
They pulled their hoods up over their heads (except for Varonwe who already had his on) and walked through the village and went right out the other way.
The moment that they left the village the rain stopped and they (minus Varonwe) remoced their hoods.
"It's almost like there's always a big raincloud right over that place."
Arvanlyn commented shaking water off of her cloak.
"Nah that's ridiculous. We just arrive at all the wrong times."
Aragorn said.
Ayleen glanced behind them and sure enough just above the entire village was a large, dark, raincloud that was constantly pouring rain.
She decided not to say anything as they neared their destination.
*time skip*
They arrived at an old house near the outskirts of the village. The windows were closed and it seemed like no one lived there.
Yet the Rangers knew better.
They approached the house cautiously and stepped on the creaky porch.
Aragorn cautiously reached out and knocked softly on the door.
No answer.
"Hmm....
She's usually home."
Aragorn tried knocking again, just a little louder.
Still no response.
"Well I guess that she's not home. Better come back some other time."
Aragorn turned around to leave just as Varonwe stepped up to the door and knocked a regular volume.
"Be there in a sec!"
A voice called from inside.
Arvanlyn and Ayleen glanced at Aragorn who was too busy noticing that all three of their names started with the later "A" to worry about their thoughts.
The door opened and a girl with purple hair answered.
Her eyes lit up with recognition as she saw who was at her door.
"Hey Aragorn, Ayleen. What brings you two here? And who are these jokers?"
"These are Arvanlyn and Varonwe."
Ayleen replied gesturing to each of them as she said their names.
"Guys, this is Vili. She's an old friend of ours."
"Nice to meet you."
Arvanlyn said.
Varonwe dipped his head in greeting.
"Why was Aragorn so nervous about coming here?"
He asked Ayleen.
"He was nervous?"
Vili said sharply as she glared in Aragorn's direction.
"Uh... No..."
Aragorn replied rocking back and forth nervously on his feet.
"Why would you be nervous Aragorn? She seems nice."
Arvanlyn said raising an eyebrow.
"He gets creeped out because she has the same name as someone he and I used to know a long time ago."
Ayleen explained.
"I dont know why he does but it may have to do with the fact that Foe Hammer used to belong to that other person."
"You need to take a chill pill Aragorn."
Vili said rolling her eyes.
"Anyway, I'm guessing that the only reason you're here is because you need something so you might as well spill."
"May we come inside?"
Varonwe asked politely.
"Sure. Come on in."
Vili led them into her house and they followed.
"Just make yourselves at home."
Vili led them into the living room and plopped down on one of her sofas. Ayleen sat down next to her while Arvanlyn and Varonwe sat on the other one.
Aragorn decided to remain standing.
"We're here because we're looking for someone."
He began.
"Winston? Oh yeah he stopped by here a few days ago. We hung out for a bit and then he hit the road. But he told me to give you guys this."
Vili stood up and disappeared into another room. She came back with yellow sticky note in her hand.
"It's written in some kind of code or something. I can't make it out at all."
Aragorn took the note and tried to read the small handwriting.
"I have no idea what this is."
Aragorn said handing the not to Varonwe.
"What about you? Can you read it at all?"
Varonwe studied the note and shook his head.
"Sorry Aragorn."
He handed the note back to him while Arvanlyn sat with her chin resting on the back of her hand.
"Why would Winston leave us a note that we couldn't read? It makes no sense."
She said trying to piece things together.
"For one thing it's Winston. That's just something he would do."
Ayleen commented.
"And another thing is that he wouldn't leave us without some way of figuring out what the note says."
Aragorn nodded his head in agreement.
"Both good points. Vili, did Winston mention anything weird or odd while he was here?"
Vili looked up at the ceiling as she tried to remember every conversation they'd had.
"He said something about a wise old man who lived in the mountains that he was going to meet with but I don't know if he can read the note."
"A wise old man who lives in the mountains? Sounds like someone Winston would know."
Arvanlyn stood up and Varonwe followed suit.
"Did he say which mountains?"
Varonwe asked.
"Some mountains far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far away to the east."
Vili replied.
"That's a lot of fars."
Aragorn commented.
"Well, looks like we've got some traveling to do. Let's go Rangers!"
They walked out the door and before leaving Aragorn thanked Vili for her help.
"No problem. I hope you find Winston soon, the guy has a knack for getting himself into trouble."
Aragorn snorted.
"Trouble is an understatement. More like catastrophic
disassters."
"Right..."
Vili said slowly.
"See ya guys later."
Vili awkwardly stepped back into her house and locked the door.
Aragorn clasped his hands together and looked determinedly towards the east.
Once they found the old wise man who lived in the mountains they would be one step closer to finding Winston.
