CHAPTER SEVEN

**•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚ ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*

Jesus stayed with Dory that night. Keeping her wrapped up in the safety of his arms as she slept soundly for the first time in weeks. She didn't have nightmares littering her dreams like she always did. Instead there was a calm. She dreamed of how things could be for the world, for her friends and the new family she had built for herself.

The sun seeped through the cracks in the white blinds the next morning. Jesus woke up first, watching the rays of sun dance across Dory's face as she slept. Slowly, the woman opened her eyes, blinking a few times to adjust to the light. Finally, her deep coffee brown eyes met with Paul's ocean blues making the man give her a small smile. He reached out and tucked some hair behind her ear asking, "How'd you sleep?" Jesus was no stranger to hearing Dory wake up screaming and crying from her dreams. Rushing from the trailer he slept in that was right beside hers, and into Dory's so he could wake her up and spend the rest of the night holding her.

He never asked what she was dreaming of, part of him didn't want to know what cursed her dreams at night. "I slept a lot better, thank you for staying with me." Dory said softly, stretching her body before propping herself up on her elbow so she could look down to the man. Her free hand made its way to his cheek. Cradling his face slightly before giving him a small smile. "You don't have to thank me." Paul said with a smile. Dory sighed softly, running her thumb along the man's cheek before leaning in closer and brushing her lips against his.

Jesus accepted the kiss happily, taking her bottom lip between his teeth and tugging slightly. A few moments later the two broke apart and Jesus pushed Dory's hair back from her face once again. "You've never kissed me like that before." the man breathed. But he wasn't wrong. The kiss was full of passion, not the usual lust he was used to. It was needing, almost begging for him to stay, like he had somewhere else to be.

"I know." Dory said with a smile before rolling over him and climbing off the bed. Jesus stayed laying down, his arms tucked under his head as he watched from the bed as she walked around the trailer to find clean clothes. The woman changed into a new pair of jeans, and a clean tank top that Micheals aunt had cleaned for her.

Micheal's aunt did Dory's laundry for her, and in return Dory gave Micheal one on one training sessions. She would have done it regardless, but Micheal's aunt begged Dory to let her do something in return. So Dory gave her the one job she almost never had time to do for herself due to the fact she was always running around.

Jesus finally got up from Dory's bed, walking up behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist. She leant back into his grasp looking over her shoulder slightly to see him smiling. "We gonna talk about it?" he asked softly, pressing a kiss to her shoulder making her let out a soft sigh. "What is there to say?" she asked, making him loosen his grasp slightly. "I don't know. Maybe i'm tired of sneaking around Dory - it's tiring." He told her, making Dory step back from him fully and turn around.
"Can we talk about this later? I'm training the kids today." she said before turning towards the door and swinging it open. "Yeah, I guess so. I'm going on a run today. I don't know when i'll be back." he told her, grabbing his hat from the table and putting it on. Dory nodded her head before saying "Stay safe." and walking out of the trailer, closing the door behind her.

Jesus sighed, sitting at one of the chairs at the small table in the trailer and resting his head in his hands. Dory leaned against the trainer door, her eyes shut as she replayed the man's words in her head. The woman couldn't deny the fact that she had feelings for the man, because she did. There was no way she could get around the fact she had feelings for him, and no one would be able to see through her lies if she told them she didn't.

Quickly shaking her head in a poor attempt to clear her thoughts, Dory walked away from the trailer and towards the area she would meet the kids once a week for training sessions. There she found a small group of five teenagers standing in a small group, while two others stood away from everyone else, talking among themselves. Alexis and Micheal stood away from the rest, not talking nearly as loud as the others. The sight brought a slight smile to Dory as she noticed this. The other five teenagers were loud and rowdy, hardly paying any attention to what Dory was even teaching them. It was frustrating for the woman on occasion, but Alexis was the first person to snap on the others, calling them out for being disrespectful. Although Alexis was good at putting the training to use, Micheal was the one who excelled out of the seven teenagers that Dory trained.

The fact that Micheal did so well in training made a sense of pride fill within Dory. She loved seeing someone she cared about so deeply do so well. It made her feel a sense of pride when the boy was brought up in conversation. When Micheal and his aunt first stumbled across the Hilltop, he was a shy kid who would hardly look at a gun let alone pick one up. He was sick upon their arrival, and whereas Gregory didn't want to waste the medical supplies to save him - Dory went out on personal runs to get anything and everything their Doctor needed to help. She didn't want to see Micheal lose his battle, not yet. But now, Micheal was strong and growing stronger everyday. He was becoming a leader - and Dory was proud.

"Alright listen up!" Dory called making seven heads snap up in her direction. "You're going to show me everything you've learned, show me you've been practicing." She said, clapping her hands together. "Well of course it wont look like we learned anything if we go up against you." One of the teenagers said to her, making Dory smirk. "You're not going up against me... Micheal." she said holding her arm out towards the boy.

"You're going up against my best student." she told them all.
