Day 21: Speed dating

"You still owe me an explanation for why you didn't make it to my awards ceremony, I didn't forget" Kayla says sitting next to me on the couch.

"But I explained that the car broke do-"

"No but that's not all that happened, I feel like a whole lot more happened" she says wiggling her eyebrows.

"Since when are you vouching for us? I thought we agreed I'm done"

"We did agree but a little fun won't hurt in fact I liked the pool scene from yesterday" she says, and a whole lot of flashbacks hit me "but even though I liked it he's a jerk, hence I did something" she says smiling widely at me.

"Kay, what did you do this time" I ask looking concerned.

"I set you up with a blind date, well dates actually" I don't react and just stare at her.

"Blind dates what for" someone says from behind us, we turn to look, at the same time and find Michale standing there.

"For finding love" Kayla rolls her eyes.

"Why would she need to find love when she's married" he asks sternly.

"To who?you? Yeah right, and anyways you want a divorce and you're engaged...apparently" she fires back, I sigh, this was the last thing I needed honestly.

"But that doesn't matter because we haven't signed yet so she's still married to me" he says as a matter of fact, why is he so bothered?

"So she can't go on dates yet you can with Helina? That's not fair and it doesn't make sense, she's going on these dates whether you like it or not" I watch as they go back and forth and honestly I was getting tired.

"Well if she really wants to go on dates I'll take her to one" he says and the room goes quiet.

"You'll drive her to them? You're so sweet atleast now we have a chauffeur an-"

"No not drive her but... Take her on a date... With me" he says looking right at me.

"oh" Kayla says.

I just silently watch him, his ocean blues into my green eyes as we try to read each other's reactions and expressions.

"Awkwardddddd" Kayla whispers and we break the eye contact. He then walks away without a word and my eyes shoot daggers at Kayla.

"What did I do now" she asks confused.

"Alot" she smiles at me "and I am not doing the whole blind date thing, he's right I'm married and until I've signed the div-"

"Blah blah blah, Lana, truth be told you guys are barely even together, I mean when was the last time you shared the bed with that man?" I look down, trying to remember wasn't it like 5 years ago? The day before he died.

"I don't even want to know the answer to that so I need you to please loosen up, this whole I'm married, married to who?"

"You're so right, I mean I have been the one to remain loyal yet he went around doing whatever the f*ck he wanted" I cover my mouth quickly realizing I swore.

"YES, that is the spirit but no more swearing for you it doesn't suit you" I laugh and she pulls me up from the couch "come on, tonight is speed dating night"

"Wait... Tonight?" she wiggles her eyebrows and drags me to my room.

What did I get myself into.

Date one: Bob

"I have a foot fetish does that bother you?" the guy sitting across me asks, I shake my head "Good because I love to lick my significant other's toes, gets me in the mood" my eyes widen

"Uhm... Okay, what do you do for a living?"

"I work as Physician but in my head I'd rather work a job that works with people's toes" I quickly look at the clock that indicated how much time we had left

"Time!" I shout and quickly cover my mouth when everyone looks my way, I so hate this, when I catch Kayla she's definitely dead.

"That's too bad I had so much fun want us to maybe hang out sometime?" I look at him awkwardly.

"Uhm... I don't have nice toes" he quickly cringes and stands up.

Date 2: Larry

"What's your favorite color?" the ginger head across me asks.

"Lilac, what about yours?" he looks directly into my eyes and pushes his glasses back into position.

"You know the colour lilac isn't a color you should be liking, it doesn't really reflect good energy" Someone please call the foot fetish guy back 

"And also lilac isn't exactly purple it's more of a lighter version of pink"yeah right genius

Date 3: Sean

"And I've been to many more countries before Mexico, I also have 7 cars, 8 trucks and alot of other many different vehicles" I just give him a tight smile, I haven't even been able to say a word about myself.

"Oh you almost forgot to ask how many kids I have" he says laughing, and before I can say a word he begins to speak again.

"So I've got seven children, four boys and three girls, also a few animals cats and dogs" my mouth hurts from the fake smiling I've been doing the entire night, this is the third date and it's going very horribly wrong.

"How wonderful" I look at my phone and see that Michale's calling me.

"Sorry I have to take this" I say standing up and moving outside of the restaurant I breathe out.

"Is everything okay?" I ask as soon as I answer.

"I think I should be asking you that don't you think, you don't look okay to me" he says.

"What do you mean" I ask confused.

"Your dates don't seem to be going well, I mean it could just be me but from my analysis you haven't even said anything to most of the guys" I look around confused, how does he...?

"Michale are you stalking me" I sigh.

"I think there's a difference between stalking and looking out for someone" he's looking out... for me?

"Why?"

"Look across the road" I turn my eyes up from the ground and there he is, leaning against his car he drops the call and we just look at each other, has he been watching me the entire night? But why?

I let my feet lead me until I'm standing infront of him, and my eyes meet his.

"Why are you here Michale" he looks at me from top to bottom.

"You look... amazing" he whispers "The color compliments your skin"

"Michale, answer the question, you're interrupting my dates"

"I'm here to collect you" I look at him confused "my wife" he finishes off and I wait for him to say he's playing but then he doesn't.

"I'm sorry but I don't need you to collect me, I'm on a date and I'm having the time of my life so if you'll excuse I have a date to get back to" I say turning abruptly and he quickly grabs my hand and pins me softly to the car.

"So you want me to leave?" he breathes into my ear, and my heart rate increases "judging by your breathing I highly doubt it, get in the car Ilana" I keep quiet and continue to stare at him, taking in every detail on his face and letting it sink in.

"I can't" I say pushing him back lightly.

"Michale you're making things hard for the both of us, we only have a couple of days left and you're doing... this" I whisper the last part gesturing to him.

"Let's not... tempt each other, I hardly think you still feel the same way for me as you did in the beginning, you're engaged and we're separating for good soon, I've had enough of this so let's just not step into each other's space and separate on good terms for the sake of Ira" he moves back and bites his lower lip.

"I'm sorry I wasn't thinking" of course you weren't.

"Hannah and I have just been fighting alot lately" sting, there it is the truth the only reason he's here. I just nod and give him a small smile.

"Apology accepted"

"I truly am ashamed, hopefully a little picnic with Ira can make up for my stupid actions" he suggests.

"That would be lovely"

"Great then I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow" I whisper.

"Right you have a date to get back to I'll leave you to it"

"Yeah, bye"

"Bye Ilana" and I walk away with a not so heavy heart, I think I'm slowly accepting things for what they are, he isn't mine anymore and we will never be, we'll just be good co-parents.
