Day 3: No broken promises

"What do you mean he's going to live here... Again" Kayla asks, as her face flushes red, probably because she seemingly can't get what I've tried explaining atleast ten times.

"Kayla focus" I say, giving her small smile "It's thirty days, he is going to live with us for thirty days and only then after, am I going to sign the divorce papers"

"But why?" she asks confused I give her a look of confusion "Why the thirty days and why are you signing the divorce papers not that I'm discouraging but I don't like the fact that Helena will think she's won" she rumbles.

"It's Hannah not Helena, and she hasn't won. Kayla I'm tired honestly, it's been five years I waited I was patient I kept my vows for a marriage that was long destroyed and honestly speaking it's not Hannah's fault. I've hid all the pain that I've been through and I'm tired, I love you but you wouldn't understand because you haven't been married yet and you don't have kids to think about and I know you love Ira just like your own child one of the reasons why you're her God mother, God knows deep down that I still love him and even now if he would change his mind and say he wants to come back I would allow him back with open arms" I stop to take a breather.

"The thirty days is to unite Ira and Michale and it's for my heart to find more reasons to let go"

"Oh Ilana, God knows how much hate I carry for that man as he has put you through so much, I was there I saw it, how it affected and destroyed you and I hope you don't blame yourself for the things that happened I just want you to know that I'll be there when you want to vent or cry or even hit someone but I feel like there's more to this than you're telling but I respect you and believe that you'll tell me with time" she says, of course she'd notice that there's something I'm hiding, I lean forward to hug her.

"Wherever you got the thirty days idea from I surprisingly like it, for Ira" I laugh and nod.

"Now out with it" I say, staring deep into her eyes "Out with wha-what?"

"You've been acting weird alot since you got here what is it I know you wanna tell me"

"It's nothing" she says, her nose begins to twitch "Darn" she curses, I laugh at her attempt to keep shut

"My nose twitched didn't it" she asks, I nod "Unfortunately yes"

"I've started dating again" she says quickly and holds her mouth shut with her waiting foy my reaction, my eyes widen at the new information.

"Kayla no ways, when?how? Who?" I ask with excitement lased in my voice

"It hasn't been long and we only started dating not so long ago actually" I smile widely at her.

"Can I get a name, tell me everything"

"Only if you agree to have lunch with me, I'm starving" I smile at her once again attempt to get me out the house

"Deal"

"Is that cough contagious?" Kayla asks me as I get into a feat of coughs.

"No of course not, it's nothing major, so tell me"

"Well, what do you want know" she asks, shyly.

"Kayla his name first, how you guys met"

"Uhm his name is... Abraham?" she says, she quickly covers a nose acting like she's scratching it "Today is awfully cold, even my nose twitching" I squint my eyes at her.

"Can I at least, tell you about him without sharing his name" I look at her confused but nodded either way.

"Phew thanks, well then we met at a cafe at the till, when I was turning to leave after paying, I mistakenly spilled my latte on him, it was a mess I got panicky and begin to ramble like I always do *rolls eyes* and then I begin to try and clean him up and I only made the stain worse, only after a while had I noticed that he had been smiling down at me, from then on we started talking, and only recently we started dating so...yeah" she explained, I smiled at her.

"You're happy" I say, she smiled looking down.

"Isn't it because we're still in the honeymoon phase? I just feel like all of it feels so unreal"

"That's happiness for you it feels like magic I'm happy for you, you know I'm happy when you're happy" I say.

"You deserve this happiness, it suits you"

"I guess-" she's interrupted by my phone ringing

{Phone conversation}

Hello

I promised to pick Ira from school but I won't make it do you-

Yeah sure

Apologise to her on my behalf, Hannah had a last minute runway and I promised to be there

Okay

I'll be there in time for dinner

Oka- hangs up

"Looks like I have to go and pick up Ira"

"But I thought you said Michale would pick-"

"He got busy, I'll catch you later, love you"

"Mummy today we learnt about angels" Ira says, I stop what I'm doing on the laptop and look towards her.

"What did you learn, come sit here " I say pointing to my lap.

"That once our loved ones die, they go to heaven and become angels and then and then uhm...oh they watch over us" she says smiling proudly of herself.

"Well done sweetpea, I'm so proud of you" I smile widely at her, the front door closes shut and she gasps running to check who it is.

"Daddy" she screams happily.

I later go and check on them and find them reading a book in the dinning area, I turn to leave when someone speaks.

"You're not cooking today?" I shake my head "I've got a headache so we'll just have to order in" I explain, when he says nothing afterwards I turn to leave.

"It's just headache, your hands are working just fine aren't they" he says, sounding annoyed I look at him in disbelief.

"Wha-my-" I suck in my breath and let out a heavy breath and decide its better I remain quiet and walk away "Ira pasta?" I ask her, she nods her head and I head to the kitchen to start cooking, as I begin in the kitchen he walks in.

"I wasn't against ordering in, I was just asking if-"

"Look I'm sorry that wasn't right of me to say, work frustrations are getting to me you know but that's not an excuse we can order in you're right" he says, I choose to remain quiet and I think my silence gets to him a little bit because he runs his hand over his hair and sighs deeply "I didn't even want to be here in the first place"

"Michale never did I ever hold a gun to your head and ask you to stay here, I asked for thirty days and you asked for the divorce papers to be signed and so it's a win win, your problem is that if I talk it's problem if I don't then it's an even bigger problem, just... Stop, all I want is peace"

"In these remaining days all I want is peace...please"

"And one more thing, if you're going to make promises to Ira have every intention of keeping it and fulfilling it, if you can't then don't make any promises"

"Wow...so now there's another condition" he says in annoyance, I look him straight in the eyes.

"No broken promises"

I know you guys probably don't like Michale guess what, I don't too. Hopefully with time he gets better because Ilana is nothing but an angel.

Otherwise a lesson we have to learn is that when you make a promise have every intention of keeping it and fulfilling it if you can't then just don't make promises.
