01| Mocha Frappé
Next morning I knew, I was rushing downstairs towards the kitchen due to the sound echoed of glass breaking followed by a burning smell which ruined my peaceful sleep. Sigh.
After reaching downstairs with half-opened eyes and messy hair trying not to trip over something, I saw the condition in front of me and let out another deep frustrated sigh.
My assumption was correct.
'The chef' was again trying to blow up the kitchen. He looked up and gave a guilty smile while trying to clean the mess.
But the deed was done. My sleep was ruined.
"Dad..." I whisper running my fingers over my messy hair knots trying to unknot them.
"Sweetheart, I did everything she told me. She lied, It didn't work out as I was expecting." He mutters scratching the back of his head guiltily.
"She...who?" I ask rubbing my eyes trying to keep them awake.
"Amanda"
Amanda?
"Before you ask about her, she owns a cooking channel on YouTube. I did what she told me but," he whispers as sadness clouds his features while looking at the mess he made in the kitchen.
Shaking my head, I climb upstairs to take a bath and dress for school while letting him clean the mess he made.
Just one year.
I was planning to move out and get an apartment of my own after completing the high school year. Living alone will be much more peaceful.
My wardrobe is filled with comfy sweaters and bottoms as I like to wear comfortable clothes instead of tight and skinny one.
I took out a pair of clothing from the wardrobe and got dressed. Having a glass of milk with toasted bread apparently, the only option left, grabbing my backpack after tying my shoelace, I walked towards the door.
I glanced up, few water droplets slowly dripping down making the road wet and finally seeping into the soil.
The sky was turning into gravel grey and large pillows of clouds were forming, blotting out the yellowish-orange colour of the sun.
I love rains, their sound, the smell of soil, it's truly mesmerising.
The way it sounds when falling against roofs and windows, the way that changes the scent of soil to something I almost crave, the rain has never ceased to amaze me.
Waving, we both part ways, he drove to his office which was in the opposite direction and I began walking down the LA's street. Since I left early, I decided to take another route where I can halt at McDonald's for a while.
I was craving for coffee, the taste of it on rainy days just hits different. Wearing my headphones and listening to soothing music, I opened the umbrella and started humming the tune while walking down the streets and admiring the peaceful sound of rain.
Silence is truly bliss. I wish more people were fluent in silence.
As I reached, I closed the umbrella and entered inside walking towards the counter. A lady in her 30's was working. She turned her attention to me as she saw me approaching, flashing me a natural smile.
"Welcome to McDonald's, your order ma'am?" she asked making me frown at the word 'ma'am' but I chose to ignore.
I took a glance at the pamphlet and pointed at a certain coffee, making eye contact with her.
"Mocha Frappé?" She confirms, simply nodding my head I turn around to watch the antique that was hanging on the wall behind her.
I always wished to be able to paint like this, but I never paid attention to it and let it slide off. One needs to dedicate complete attention and interest in it or else everything goes in vain.
"Size?" she asks tapping on the screen.
'Medium' I point and she nods.
"Right away," she smiles and turns to make the designated order.
After a few minutes, she turns around with my coffee. "Here's your order," and hands me the coffee as I pay.
"Thank you, Have a great day," she says with a natural smile still plastered on her face. I couldn't help but peep at her name tag.
'Alisa' was her name. Just Like her name.
Great happiness
How can she manage to keep that smile all day?
Simply nodding again, I turn to leave sipping the coffee.
This coffee tastes-
"I am so sorry." And the coffee was all over me.
Clenching my fists and gritting eyes with pure anger, I tried to subsidised my rage. I looked up, Brown eyes that were showing concern and guiltiness hiding behind those round specs was what I was able to see.
"I am truly sorry, I was in a hurry. Wait, I still am. Gotta go."
And he ran away.
Huh? Seriously? Doesn't he have any guilt to at least express his apology by glancing at my condition?
Calm down. I chanted under my breath.
I let out a deep final breath while stomping towards the exit with my now stained sweater and few stares at me.
Great.
All thanks to that ill-mannered weird guy.
I exit the cafe, this time the noise of rain lessened and the drops accumulated in the form of puddles. Clouds were slowly deforming clearing the sky.

Changing into another sweater which was thankfully present in my locker, I walked into the library and sat down with a book. The thoughts of my career clouding my mind. I still was not able to choose what I want to be.
Sitting in peace is the best thing anyone could ever imagine, At least I would.
But, good things never last as long as they say.
I saw a group of 5 people approaching. The very same group that tagged me as 'mute freak'. Right now, I wasn't ready for the drama.
"Hey freak," Laura speaks but as usual I ignore and keep reading the book.
A meaningful silence is always better than meaningless words.
"The freak ain't gonna speak," A guy beside her chuckles.
"Huh, let me get the words out of that shitty mouth," Laura says and starts approaching me but gets caught back by her 'lackey' which I presume to be in love with her.
She was oblivious to it of course.
Not that I care.
"Let it go, Laura," John mumbles pleading with his eyes. Laura huffs and walks away, her followers following her behind.
This shitty mouth can spit shitty words on her face showing her the right place where she belongs but I have to maintain my sanity, unlike these people.
After all, I'm not a freak; I'm just a girl with a bad case of the worries.
Why me?
I just want to be alone.
Why can't they let me be?
Holding back tears that were threatening to fall down, I stood abruptly and packed my backpack, placing on my shoulder and turning around to leave. I type a quick text to Bree saying that 'I'm leaving' and not to wait for me.
As I was reaching the door, someone tapped my shoulder.
"Hey"
Turning around I met with the same brown eyes I saw in the morning but the difference was now those brown eyes were glowing with happiness.
Suddenly, I recalled the morning incident and rage filled inside me. I turned around to leave but he caught my arm.
"Hey, you are the one I bumped into in the morning right?" He asks.
I clenched my jaw, tapping my foot trying to keep my impatience at bay, I remain silent waiting for him to let go of my arm.
Noticing my slight irritation, he speaks, "I didn't get the chance to apologize, I am truly sorry. I-" his phone buzz interrupted him.
He took his phone out frowning and I took the opportunity.
I started walking towards the exit. I was about to reach the door when he again interrupted me by stepping in my way.
What the hell is his problem?
"Let me apologize, I'm being sincere." He pleads but I push him slightly to which he stumbles a little clearing the way.
I leave making my way to the cafeteria without looking back.
Stupid idiotic specie.
