An Old "x Reader" One-Shot / Author's Note

Hey guys!

First of all, I would like to apologize for this not being a continuation to the storyline. It's been two weeks since the last update, and I've been trying to get back on track.

Even though hurricane Irma has passed, the Caribbean is currently under Hurricane Warning for María. Due that and other matters, I'll be postponing Act 9 until either Friday or Monday, depending on how things turn out.

This update is just a lil' one-shot I wrote on 2014-15 (back when I was just getting into SU). I believed I could share it to show how much things have changed since then!

It's very (very) rookie-ish/unedited writing, and it was supposed to be an Amethyst x Reader which got discontinued— though, I do remember just how much I enjoyed writing this piece. . . (I was obsessed back then. 😅)

Now, without further ado, I hope you enjoy this one-shot special (?), and to all those in danger of a hurricane, please take care and stay safe!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

As yet another year passed on, I watched glumly as the other trapped gems floated about the enclosed area. I, in these two hundred years, had done nothing but stare at this room, I had observed it to the point where I could easily navigate through it with my vision and senses shut down, if ever given the chance.

But today was the day. Today was the day I would be set free. All I needed was for this human child called 'Steeven' to do so.

Besides observing this room for two hundred years, I also analyzed the beings which entered and exited this place. I had analyzed that this 'Steeven' would be the one who would set me free so as long as I... enticed him.

Today, according their usual schedule, the rebels, along with 'Steeven', would show up if they successfully managed to cage, or 'bubble', in this case, a Gem cluster. Today was the day I felt most impatient. I had never felt more impatient in these two hundred years of my living in this 'bubble prison'.

After what seemed to be a couple of earth rotations, the room suddenly boomed with sound. Four— no, five beings had showed up today. One of them, to my surprise, was the one 'Steeven' had released from the 'bubble prison'.

I wonder... What did these rebels do to convince a servant of a Diamond to join them?

As I looked at the afro-haired gem with a tall, yet built figure, I felt curious yet slightly saddened for another gem which would be added to this pink bubble prison of insanity. They exchanged a few words and seemed quite happy, much to my disgust.

While I watched, however, there were two beings staring at me. One was the long-haired Gem, known as 'Amethyst' and the other was 'Steeven'.

What had gotten them to look at me?

Had I accidentally moved or caused a distraction?

The other gems had already left and had called for the two to follow. They both exchanged glances and later looked at my curiously. As they did so, I felt my nervousness suddenly return back to me.

What if they were planning on placing me on a stronger bubble prison?

No— This couldn't possibly happen. I had to think of something, and it had to be quick.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

It was, what these beings referred to as 'the nighttime'. I, at this Earth time, was used to perform what humans referred to as 'over thinking', yet this time, I could not think at all. Tension had me by the throat and I could not process anything.

Two hundred more years...

No.

Who knows up to how longer would I be trapped if I were put in a stronger cell?

Just as I was driving myself into insanity, two figures appeared from the Gems' portal. They were Amethyst and 'Steeven'. I, not knowing what else I could possibly do, took all of my forces and gave it my best to glow. Perhaps, this would get them to notice my presence.

"Yes! I knew I'd seen that happen earlier!" 'Steeven' exclaimed, whilst jumping in barely contained excitement.

Amethyst, breaking her stare from me, looked at 'Steeven' and later made what appeared to be an act of silencing.

"We don't wanna bring any attention." the Gem shushed, now walking towards me.

She took her time to inspect each and every angle of my gemstone, causing for my worry to increase.

"What's up?" she questioned, a grin slowly creeping up on her face. "Little Gem wanna come outta the bubble?" she asked, this time mockingly.

I, now furious, took all my strengths and glowed again, this time creating not a faint reflection, but a soft and clear light.

"Amethyst!" 'Steeven' exclaimed, in a hushed voice. "Don't be mean! She's probably friendly..."

"Probably deadly too." She let out a snort. "But, eh... I'm curious, so let's pop it!" she exclaimed, thus pointing one of her chubby fingers closer towards me.

"Amethyst wai-"

Pop!

I... I was free!

Oh, how long had I waited for this moment to arrive. I felt alive yet again. I felt the energy run through my veins and my body temperature increase as I landed on the floor.

"Ugh..." I managed to say, suddenly feeling strange and sickly

The two hundred years cramped up were seemingly showing up fast.

I took both my newly regenerated arms and struggled to lift myself up, but to no avail. Seeing as this was going nowhere, I tried to reason by speaking.

"P- Please! Don't hurt me.... I have gotten so tired of being caged... I tried to send a signal, but I did not expect this. I swear, I come in peace... Just please do not put me back in the 'bubble prison'." I pleaded, feeling more weaker as time passed by.

"Hey, chill dude. I didn't set you free to put you back again." Amethyst assured.

She reached out a hand for me, which I quite reluctantly took. Once I did so, I heard a horrifying 'crack' noise emanate from hand, my right hand.

A sharp pain struck my whole body, and everything around me suddenly went black.

I felt a hint of light, which led me to open my eyes slowly and carefully. There seemed to be a source of light being flashed at me, which 'Steeven' was apparently producing with a strange and tubular gadget. I got up abruptly, thinking, perhaps, it could be a dangerous weapon of sorts.

"Aw, don't worry. I'm not going to hurt you!" the human boy said, compassion visible in his tone. "Amethyst— She's up!" he called out, which led for Amethyst, who was consuming some sort of human sustenance, to walk towards us.

I curled myself up, trying to somehow protect myself from the approaching figure.

"Heeyy!" the Gem greeted, as she placed a hand on top of my head, thus messing up my hair. "How are ya feeling?" she asked, now taking a glance at Steeven's direction. "Steven here fixed your gem. I gotta say, you scared me when you fainted in my arms all of a sudden."

"Huh? Y- You mean you didn't intend to hurt me? You didn't hurt me? I- It was my gem that-"

"Cracked. A big, nasty swipe. I'm surprised Steven's drool fixed it." she replied to my endless questions.

"Oh... 'Steeven'... Er, what is this 'droole'?" I questioned towards the human boy, completely unaware of this human concept.

"Uhhh... It's a— It's a liquid that comes from my tongue! Except it's magical and it-" his rather strange explanation was put to a stop by a worried voice calling out for his name.

"What's going on here?!" a frantic voice called out, making us all bolt and look towards the voice's location.

"P- Pearl!" 'Steeven' exclaimed, staring at the slender, pale Gem servant with widened eyes. "Don't go anywhere near her, guys!"

He lifted a piece of clothing which covered his torso, and then pointed at a gem. It was quartz. A rose quartz was on his stomach.

How was this even possible?

"I- I'll use this!" he defended, whilst still pointing at his gem.

Garnet stood beside Pearl, though she soon walked to where 'Steeven' was. A small smirk visible on her rather plain and stoic features.

"Steven, it's alright. I know you only want to help, but you have to remember what happened with Lapis." Garnet reasoned, getting down on one knee and placing a hand on his shoulder.

"I- I know, but she seems friendly!"

"And so did Lapis Lazuli."

"But-"

"We have to put her back." she firmly commanded, completely shutting him from saying anything else on both his defense and my own.

"If you do not give me an opportunity to even speak, how would you ever know if I am a threat or not?" I interrupted the silence that had suddenly formed around all five of us,  all of a sudden furious at this Gem's tone and ways.

Garnet stood there in plain silence, staring at me. At least, that was what I thought, for her eye shields were quite dark and difficult to see through them.

"Alright." she said, walking closer to me. "But, just try and slip up—" Her menacing statement was interrupted by her own actions.

She summoned in her hands what seemed to be her weapons and got them dangerously close to my face, whereas 'Steeven' did the same gesture he did before with his gem. She looked at 'Steeven', then back at me, finally putting away her weapons. The human child had successfully managed to convince her, making relief wash over me.

"—And I will put you back again." she concluded, correcting her previous threat due to the boy's actions.

"Very well." I concurred, nodding my head in reassurance. "I will assure you I shall be no burden."

"We'll be the judge of that." she stated, now looking at Amethyst. "You were part of this, so you'll take responsibility."

"Alright!" Amethyst exclaimed, embracing me from behind and letting out a fit of chuckles. "Another Gem is in da house!"

"Err... What are you doing? I- Is this a method of torture?" I questioned with worry, becoming aware of the purple Gem's actions.

"What?" she blurted out, letting out a laugh afterwards. "Dude, this is just a, uh, method of affection... Or of welcome in this case."

"I... I see, then... Thank you." I said, feeling myself smiling, something which I hadn't done ever since I was trapped on that 'bubble prison'.

'Steeven' and Amethyst were apparently of no threat, which was a big relief, though one can't always be certain. As I navigated around what seemed to be piles of Earth waste, I spotted an exit. Seeing as Garnet and Pearl were standing there with an unwelcoming aura, I hid and listened to their conversation.

"Garnet, Steven did the same with Lapis, and now she's a possible threat! What will we do if she becomes one as well?" Pearl, the slender one of the group, spoke, both in anger and frustration.

"We should wait and see. After all, what she said was correct." Garnet, the built one, reasoned, leaning her body on the exit's frame.

"But that was for her own benefit-"

"No. It was the truth." Garnet interrupted, in a tone which meant for the conversation to be concluded.

I, thinking they might see my eavesdropping in a bad way, went back to where 'Steeven' and Amethyst were resting at.

"Yo! Back from your tour?" Amethyst questioned, whilst waving at me, in which I nodded in response.

"What type of Gem are you?" 'Steeven' asked, seemingly interested in my response.

"I am a (Gem fusion name)." I replied, softly rubbing the gem on my right hand.

"(Gem fusion name)?" Amethyst asked, surprised by my words. "Aren't those usually made by fusions?"

"Y- Yes, but I can assure you that I am but one Gem. Those types of gemstones are supposed to be incredibly durable, but mine broke seemingly quick... I suppose that could be due to I not being a fusion." I explained, thinking this would make me a bigger threat on their eyes.

"Hmm." Amethyst mumbled, appearing to be deep in thought. "But your physical state is perfect, isn't it? After all, your kind's supposed to be (height) and (body type)."

"Well, ever since I was trapped, I don't remember much. All I know is that I neither was a servant of the Diamonds nor a rebel— Crystal Gem." I paused, feeling ashamed of my next words. "I was my own leader, and I can quite shamefully admit that this leader has lost her way." I muttered, looking down at the hand that possessed my gemstone.

"It's fine, dude. We all get lost sometimes." Amethyst reassured with a sympathetic smile, patting me on the back afterwards.

We stood in a slightly gloomy silence, until it was broken by a certain Quartz.

"I got lost in Lion's mane once." 'Steeven' added quite awkwardly, the choice of topic not helping with the current ambience of the area.

Well, that is all for now, and be seeing you!

I hope this one-shot's concept didn't make you face-palm/shake your head too much. It's kind of embarrassing to look back at this, hahah!
