──────── Chapter two, I can't find him
𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴:
"(take me out -franz ferdinand)"

SERAPHINA DIDN'T CRADLE HER HEAD AS THE PLANE HIT THE GROUND. Even if she did she was going to die. Seraphina deserved a violent death, but this would be quick. Coach Martinez came behind her, wrapping an oxygen mask around her face.

The plane shot into the earth, sending a quake through the cabin. Fire started and smoke filled the air, burning Seraphina's eyes that unfortunately still had some life in them. Her eyes were wet, burning as everything and everyone was a blur.

Her first instinct, Devon and Akilah. Seraphina unbuckled her seat, arm landing against a scorching piece of metal, her skin sizzling as she ripped it away. Seraphina guided herself through the isle until she saw the three empty seats, blood covering them.

She couldn't move, motionless in the aisle. Her ears rang, maybe from the collision, maybe from the fact she was alone now. People yelled, pushed her out of the way. No one made her move, grabbed her and brought her out with them.

The blood trickled to the carpet floor, staining the royal blue. It was sprayed across the window and wall infront of the seats. Where were they, though? A pit in her stomach formed.

Taissa snagged Seraphina, holding her wrist tightly, more to ground her rather than move Seraphina.

Seraphina fell to the ground as she exited the plane, erupting into coughs and gasps for air. "Hey.. you're okay, Sera. You're okay." Akilah dropped to her knees, clawing at her sister to get up.

Seraphina sat up straight, cradling Akilah's face. There were no screams for a second, just her sister's breath.

"Where's Dev?" And she felt sick again.

"I- I don't know." Akilah looked off into the trees, eyes wide and bottom lip quivering.

"Go — Go find someone." Seraphina croaked, jumping off of the ground and walking off, turning back once to see Akilah being dragged away by Misty.

Lottie stopped in front of her, Seraphina grabbing her shoulders and snagging her attention. "Have you seen— have you seen Devon?"

Lottie didn't answer, her attention focused far away. She scurried off, Seraphina scoffed before lunging at the next person she saw.

"Have you seen him?" Seraphina violently shook someone else's shoulder.

"Who?" Travis squinted, one arm holding him onto the tree and the other surveying the destruction.

"Devon." She told, Travis shook his head, staring blankly at her.

"Wait. You're the one my dad was helping." Travis deciphered, but Seraphina was already far into the trees, yelling for her brother.

BY THE TIME SERAPHINA CAME BACK TO THE PLANE IT WAS DARK, NO ONE BESIDE HER. Akilah was too stunned to cry, and Seraphina couldn't be bothered -even after the crash- to sit with her teammates.

The fire was small, the flames dancing and popping in an orthodox rhythm. She often got lost in her mind. Usually it was about trig, or how she could've just smacked the ref who carded her. But it wasn't those thoughts. It was the crash, Coach dying, Devon being missing.

Devon had gone missing before. He walked into the woods by himself and was lost for three days, curiosity always got the best of him.

The girls around the fire erupted into laughter and confessions, Jackie not-so-softly giving Shauna "bedroom eyes" as she spoke.

Seraphina turned her head behind her, Travis glaring at her, quickly averting as she rolled her eyes.  Did he seriously blame her for Coach? She would've been fine without an oxygen mask. Maybe.

The girls slowly winded down, resting on cushions, a few snores already interrupting the chirps of insects that were probably too big for Seraphina to be comfortable with.

"I guess you did Allie a big favor by breaking her leg.." Mari told from a distance, voice cracked from the smoky air.

Seraphina looked over at her, eyes squinted. Mari just stood up and walked off into the trees instead of listening to the snarky reply Seraphina had brewing.

But right now she didn't.
