When Timothy arrived back home, he wouldn't even look at Magnolia, but that was all she could do. Her glare was cold and harsh and she wouldn't let it up. After an hour, Elton had to go up to his room from the pure tension that hung in the air, waiting to snap. "Magnolia, honey," Ariana began. "You should talk to him. You might like what you hear."

"You're taking his side?" Magnolia snapped.

Ariana shook her head. "No one is taking sides, my dear. But what you think happened isn't. Jacob and Paul are fine."

"What?" Magnolia looked to her father, who was finally looking at her. "Is this true?"

Timothy stood from his spot in the kitchen and slowly walked to his daughter. "Yes," His voice was ruff and sore sounding. "We eliminated the vampire threat before he killed Bella," Bella? Magnolia's stomach dropped, she didn't even think of Bella's safety. "Everyone is fine."

"Good," Magnolia nodded slowly. "Good," She and Timothy stared each other down for a moment before she cleared her throat. "I think I'll go to be early tonight."

A few days passed without a word from Bella. Magnolia wondered if she'd seen the wolves or, what she was more worried about, if she knew who they were. Every day and night she was on edge, waiting for a call, but she'd given up. Bella wasn't contacting her and she didn't want to push, so another night, she went to bed, worried.

Magnolia's peaceful sleep was interrupted by an unwelcomed phone call — if it hadn't rang, she'd probably had slept the entire weekend. Her hand struggled to find her phone in the messy bedsheets. Once she grabbed hold of it, she sat up lazily and put it to her ear. "Hello?" She sleepily answered.

"Magnolia?" Jacob's ruff voice sounded panicked.

"Jacob?" Magnolia sat up quickly. "What's going on? Is Bella okay?" If Jacob called her in a panic, it had to be about Bella. There was a pause and some muffled talking. "Jacob? What is going on!" She was now beginning to panic herself — she hadn't heard from the human girl in a few days, but she assumed it was because she was still getting used to talking with her again.

"How fast can you get to Bella's?" He asked hastily.

"Why, Jacob?" Magnolia was now standing, already grabbing a change of clothes. "Is she okay?"

There was some muffled talking before another voice answered. "Magnolia?" She froze.

"Alice?"

Magnolia had never drove so fast in her life. She nearly broke the stirring wheel as her anger boiled. Why now, of all times, would Alice Cullen come back to Forks. When she pulled up to Bella's house, Billy's cruiser was gone and the front door was ajar.

She stormed in, hands steaming with simmering flames. As soon as Magnolia stepped into the house and caught sight of the vampire girl, she was pinning her against the wall. She ignored the yells of Bella telling her to stop. "Why?" She couldn't help her voice cracking. "Why are you back?"

Alice could've broke from Magnolia's grip easily, but she allowed the sorceress to hold her there. "Magnolia..." Her voice was heavy with sadness and guilt. Alice wanted to come back, she nearly did on the girls birthday — she was her first real friend, someone outside of her coven. But what sadden her was the reason she was here now wasn't because of that want to see Magnolia again. "It's...it's Edward."

Magnolia's grip loosened immediately. "You're here cause of Edward?" Her eyes snapped to Bella. "What's going on?"

"Edward...he's going to the Volturi," Alice sounded nervous and Magnolia understood why. The Volturi were terrifying, even more so than the High Sorcerer Council. "He thinks Bella is dead."

Magnolia laughed in disbelief. "And why does he think that? She's right hear, safe and sound," As she finally got a look at the human, Magnolia could see that she was soaking wet. "Bella...what happened?"

Bella frowned, not making eye contact with anyone. "I...I jumped off a cliff."

"You tried to kill yourself?!" Magnolia shrieked, rushing over to check the girl for injuries.

Bella shook her head. "No! I went...cliff jumping, for fun. Like the wolves." That answered that — Bella knew about Jacob and the pack.

"But now Edward thinks she's dead and is going to get himself killed!" Alice spoke urgently. "We called you here for help, Maggie."

"Don't call me that," Magnolia glared at the vampire. "You don't get to anymore."

Alice nodded understanding. "But will you help?"

Magnolia scoffed. "Why would I help you?" She shook her head, but then her eyes caught Bella's — big, deep, brown eyes filled with sorrow, pain and suffering. Magnolia knew deep down she would help, but not for Edward or Alice, but for Bella. "Fine," She huffed. "How are we gonna get to Italy, anyway?"

Of course, Alice managed to get three, one-way commercial tickets to Italy. They packed nothing, and all Magnolia could do to warn her parents about going to the literal pits of hell — the Volturi — was a voicemail, saying she'd be home in a few days. She hated it, but it had to be done.

Sitting in between Bella and Alice was extremely uncomfortable. Alice kept trying to make small talk, acting like they didn't leave for almost a full year, and Bella was basically crying. Magnolia held the human girl's hand, doing her best to comfort her on a cramped airplane.

Alice explained their plane of how they would reach Edward once they landed, and needless to say, Magnolia was already tired. "I'm sweating just from hearing that," She sighed.

Alice smiled. "It's nice to see your sarcasm hasn't changed."

Magnolia looked at her, unable to think of a rude remark, but she couldn't muster a glare, either. Just being with Alice made it seem like she never left, but knowing she did, that he did hurt. "Yeah." That was all she could say before turning her attention back onto comforting Bella until the plane landed. And boy, was it going to be a long flight.

AUTHORS NOTE

Now we're getting to get good stuff, but also the end of the book. I estimate there will be about four more chapters, including an epilogue, before the book is finished.
