Day 1 - Ikarashi Tsuchi
Write down at least three goals for this month?
"Hey" Shizuka called softly.
"Anything you need, sis?" Tsuchi smiled.
"...Nothing."
"..." I don't believe it.
Shizuka sat down next to her and pulled her knees to her chest. She gazed at the stars longingly. They sat there for a while.
"Why did you came up here?" It's their roof after all.
"Why didn't you sleep?" Instead, Tsuchi replied with a question.
"It has been a long time, hasn't it?" There came her not-really-an-answer reply, but it also meant everything. Shizuka still didn't face her.
"Yeah." The short-haired girl smiled sadly. "It has."
"To think we've really gone this far with each other..." The noirette's expression turned to fond. It's Tsuchi's turn to gaze at the stars. "We've met under this same starry sky after all."
Their memories came back, as if it was just yesterday. The day they met, under the incredibly beautiful stars. Two years ago...
...
We aren't just normal humans.
We are taken from our families. Held captive.
Tsuchi looked at her right hand. She clenched it a bit. Clumps of earth and sand poured from her hand down the roof. It should be impossible for people to just create them from nowhere like she had done.
It was the result of a clearly successful experiment.
...
Two years ago
Tsuchi and the others had just eaten, their faces sullen. Where is Rina? All five of us have searched all of the city and we couldn't find her! It was her fault, she thought. If only she hadn't let their youngest sibling go buy groceries! She insisted to help, sure, but still...
"We'll find her. I'm sure." Ryouka clenched her fist while putting a hand on Tsuchi's shoulder.
"But it's been 10 days already." She replied weakly. "If only-"
"No ifs, Tsuchi. What's done is already done. I know the chances are low, but I'm going to search for her location by hacking into traffic cameras. We should see it." Hikari pushed her glasses.
"Let me help." Tsuki threw her plushie away and pulling her laptop to her lap. "I couldn't sleep ever since this happens. I'd like things to change back to the same as always, so I can sleep and Ryouka could go play with Shouko and Rina. She's been bugging me about it lately."
So, even Tsuki lend a hand. Shouko is out searching already, and Ryouka pulled out a map to see any possible locations that Rina might have gone in. Tsuchi wanted to help.
"Hey, let me help..."
"No, Tsuchi. Go to sleep. You are the now youngest and we've seen bags under your eyes. No need to stress out, okay? We're gonna find her." Tsuki spoke. Tsuchi thought she could read the same in the Hikari's petalite and Ryouka's spessartine orbs. She sighed and turn to the stairs.
Just at she lifted a foot on the first step, the doorbell rang.
We don't have any guest expected at this hour, so maybe it was Shouko? No, she had the keys to herself, so maybe it was Rina...?
Leaving her thoughts there, Tsuchi already ran back. "Let me get the door!" She ran past Hikari who attempted to walk out of her seat to open the door.
The short-haired teen hurriedly unlocked the door and swung it open. Her eyes subconsciously trailed to the youngest's height, and was met with a red dress with lightning-pattern leggings and black boots.
What...?
Citrine orbs met Ruby ones.
"Ahem." The stranger cleared her throat. "I assume you are Ikarashi Tsuchi?"
Said teen nodded, eyes wide and not sure what to say.
"Tsuchi, who's there?" Hikari poked her head out when she felt the silence by the door.
Ignoring the brunette, the female by the door once again laid eyes on her. Those eyes... I feel like they could pierce through my soul...
"Then I believe this is the right house. I come to return Amagai Rina to you. Why did you lose her?"
"Tsuchi-nee! I missed you so much!" Rina ran out from behind the stranger and hugged her. Hikari called Tsuki and Ruoyka and together they got to the door in a fraction of second with the glasses teen's light manipulation. Ryouka pulled the stranger's moto jacket, and curled her hands into fist while trying to yank her up the ground but she's shorter so she couldn't do it. Ruby orbs remained cold. "What did you do to her? Where did you hide her?! If you try to lay a finger on Rina, I swear-"
"Ryou-nee, don't hurt Shizuka-nee! She saved me!" Rina pulled away from the group hug she had with the remains, and pulled the auburn-haired's coat back. "She's a good person!"
"You say?! Look at her eyes! They're cold! Like those of a murderer!"
The stranger froze, but quickly she regained her calm. "Miss, it is rude to assume that to someone you just met." She took Ryouka's hand away from her jacket.
"Hate to say that, but she's right," Hikari interrupted their staring contest. "Shizuka-san, right? Please come in and explain to us how you found Rina."
"Alright. If she'd let me." Her fingerless-gloved thumb gestured to the shorter teen as she broke their contest to look at Hikari. "Fine." Ryouka grumbled.
...
"...and that's it. I then asked her where she is and who her guardian is, then immediately drove here. Satisfied?" The stranger, now known as Shizukume Shizuka, raised one brow at them, especially Ryouka. "Yeah." The fiery-eyed teen looked away in embarrassment, guilty for having alleged a person of murdering and kidnapping without proof.
"Anything else you want to ask about her disappearance?" Shizuka asked them all. Shouko, who came home right after they let the Shizukume teen in, shook her head. "Then, can I ask my question?" came the polite request. They nodded.
"I believe I'd seen you use light manipulation, am I correct?" This question is directed to Hikari who mentally slapped herself for revealing her power. "I'm not hallucinating, for sure, because, also when that one over there," Ryouka, " grabbed my jacket, I can feel the unnatural heat. There is also a smell of my jacket burning, which is impossible with just human body temperature alone, and the outside is, like, nineteen degrees." She showed them the slightly brown spot of her black jacket, with some fingers printed on it. The hot-headed teen lowered her head.
Tsuchi's citrine eyes met with Tsuki's blue tourmaline ones, and they nodded. We shouldn't hide her anymore, not when she'd known this much. It would only make her suspicious.
"Okay, we'll not hide you any further. Let me get to the point." Tsuki cleared her throat as the others, with the exception of Tsuchi, looked at her in surprise. "We're not normal."
"Nor am I." Shizuka dryly laughed.
"Not that kind of 'abnormal' you're thinking about. We have powers, to manipulate certain elements, as the scientist named us. True to your assumption and her name, Hikari ('Light') manipulates light. Ryouka ('Blazing Fire'), like her name, can control fire. As my surname is Hikawa ('Icy River'), I have the power to manipulate ice and water. Tsuchi's ('Earth') power is to manipulate earth. Rina, her surname is Amagai ('Heavenly Valley'), meaning she can manipulate plants and nature. The only one not true to her name is Asagiri Shouko, who can manipulate wind."
"Superficial paulownia's auspicious child, huh? Interesting name, I could say." Shizuka commented. "But as I said earlier, I ain't normal, either. Not true to my name like Asagiri-san here, the Silent Rainy Bud (Shizuka Shizukume) has nothing to do with my power."
"So you have powers too? That's super awesome!" Rina cheered and threw her hands up.
"Yes, I am able to manipulate lightning." She finished.
...
After the meeting, they had asked Shizuka to live with them. Not only could she learn more about controlling her power, but also teach the others with her experience, especially after they learned that she is older than Hikari, meaning the oldest of the group. After a moment, she agreed, and now their journey together had one more person.
...
"You fit in quite well, y'know." Tsuchi beamed.
"Two years have passed, what did you expect? I couldn't believe I agreed to join with you though. The others were a pure headache." Shizuka groaned.
"But it was fun, don't you think? To be able to live with them is a blessing too, I never had any regrets."
"Uhuh." The ruby-eyed teen mumbled, face buried inside her red and black scarf. "Can't believe I'll say this but they truly are fun to be with."
Tsuchi saw a sparkle from the corner of her vision, she turned, and a shooting star ran pass, right in front of them.
"Tsu, what's your three goals of this month?"
"I wish we could pass our incoming exams, I wanted to write a book so I'd like to write at least one chapter, and my ultimate goal is to maintain this family, forever." She looked Shizuka right in the eye with confidence.
"Always about us, huh?" The older teen grinned.
"Hey! My second goal is my personal one!"
"Oh yeah? Who said they wanted to write a book about us just now?"
"I didn't say it!"
"It's all over your face, Tsu. Don't try to hide it from me."
As they teased each other forwards and backwards, the roof is filled with Tsuchi's carefree laughter and Shizuka's small cackles.
--Bonus--
"Hey everyone, last night I had a strange dream about hearing Shizuka and Tsuchi laughing together on our roof." Hikari yawned.
"You too? I thought I was the only one!" Ryouka asked, surprised.
"Me three!" That was Shouko.
"Me four!" Rina chimed in.
"Five." Tsuki lifted her head to say just one word, and continued to sleep on Ryouka's shoulder.
"I know, is this the legendary 'you have the same dream when you sleep under one roof' thing?! It's awesome!"
"No it isn't." Shizuka interrupted. "Ya'll were just awake at the time."
"So it was REAL?!"

(failed) Attempt at humour, guys. Of course I'd continue the other fic, I'm just getting things outta my head and keep my ideas tracked. Plus, #imboredokay ?
