1st place in action and adventure in the butterfly 2020 awards

Riven Isles has struggled a great deal on Wattpad. I watched a lot of fellows around me succeed much, much faster, so doubt in the value of my story crawled throughout my innards... as it does. This win helped my story feel validated--reassuring me that the story and writing is actually okay. It feels worthy now, I suppose. I live for that.

1 what inspired you to write?
My 3rd and 4th grade English teacher. We had the BEST creative writing activities and she always made me feel so good about everything I wrote, so I just kept writing. My frequent daydreaming and imagination needs to come out somehow, y'know.

2 what's your favorite holiday and why

Halloween. An excuse to dress up, eat candy, be spooky. 'Nuff said.

3 what's the best way to handle a bully?

On the internet, a block and report--don't engage, they feed on that. In person, have your own support circle to help you up when the bully knocks you down. Don't give the bully what they want, which is generally a fight.. Or your lunch money. Report them to people with the ability to do something about it, or talk to the bully personally and gauge what their motive is and what you can offer to help them to be the better person they surely are. 

4 how would you celebrate a publishing deal?

I'd probably treat myself to a good film at the cinema and some sweet treats.

5 Are you still surprised when you get a new vote, follow or comment?

Big time.

6 if you could gain advice from your favorite author, who would you choose and what would you ask?

Patrick Ness. Tips for keeping present tense descriptive, engaging, and not jarring?

8 how would you spend a rainy day?

Writing, reading, drawing, rewatching my favorite movies.

I'd like to feature on an official profile reading list someday.

I'll shout Riven Isles, since it's the instigator of this post! I feel as if everyone has a little yearning for adventure within them, and at least a slight fascination with pirates. Someone should consider reading it because it stirs up the warm whimsy of adventure and pirates with a sweet, comedic narrative that readers may often relate to. Also pirates.
