1. What is your favorite thing about Wattpad?
At the moment, I mainly use Wattpad from a writer's perspective. That said, my favorite thing has to be how open the whole experience is. It's great to be able to put out a finished or unfinished story of essentially any length and genre and receive feedback from an array of readers.
2. Are you still surprised when you get a new vote, follow or comment?
I am definitely still surprised when I get a new vote, follow, or comment, mainly because I'm not used to it yet. Comments are especially special to me because they give me a tiny window into what the reader is thinking. I love feedback of all kinds, even if it's just a little "Ha" to let me know that a particular joke landed.
3. If you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?
I can honestly say that I don't have a favorite celebrity. But that's not to say there aren't many actors, actresses, songwriters, and authors I don't appreciate. To answer the question, though, I would probably choose George R. R. Martin and spend some time just picking his brain about his Song of Ice and Fire series. Regardless of the medium (books, film, painting, etc.), I find it fascinating to learn how certain people work. To know the ordered and chaotic process behind a series as large as Martin's, it would be very interesting.
4 How would you spend a rainy day?
As of this writing (typing?), today was actually a rainy day. And today I tended to the many animals outside in the barn, typed bits of a short story inside the house, and even walked the dogs when the rain died down a bit. All in all, it wasn't that much different from a sunny day.
5. What's your favorite holiday and why?
I've always enjoyed Christmas because of the way it changes the atmosphere everywhere you go. The decorations and lights are great to see (and it's even better when it snows). When it comes to Christmas music, however, I can't stand most songs unless it's Christmas Day or Christmas Eve. (And even then, I will not listen to "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas." I'm sorry, but I just won't.)
6. What's your schedule regarding your writing?
In one word: random. A set schedule would be nice but my current lifestyle doesn't provide that. Sometimes I write from 11am to 9pm (with breaks for food and walks) and sometimes I'll have my whole day sapped away to the point I can't even touch any of my writings. I know I work best when given a few hours at a time, though. There are some people that can write in quick spurts of 30 minutes here and 20 minutes there, but I'm not that person. I can't be interrupted that often and remain productive at the same time.
7. What's your favorite snack?
Chocolate Fudge Pop Tarts. Or Reese's Puffs cereal. Or an assortment of granola bars. Or ice cream. Can ice cream be a snack? I'm counting ice cream as a snack.
8. If you could gain advice from your favorite author, who would you choose and what would you ask?
One of the most challenging things for me when I write is coming up with names. I know I've mentioned him already, but I'd love to learn how George R. R. Martin picks a name for a character or a city. I've read in an article that he can't write about a character before they have a name. I'm the same way, so if decide to spontaneously introduce a character into a scene, production stops cold until I can figure out what to call them first.
9. What's the best way to handle a bully?
Simple: ignore them. Bullies aren't worth your time, so don't pretend that they are.
10. What inspired you to write?
The thing that inspired me to write was a strange combination of re-watching Forest Gump after a number of years and having dived into the backstory of the PS4 game Bloodborne. For whatever reason, the combination of the Tom Hanks' great acting and Hidetaka Miyazaki's creepy world got me into a creative mood that has become the center of my life for over three years now.
11. What's one Wattpad goal?
To have a "K" following any number of views, votes, or comments on any one of my works. Numbers get extra special when letters are involved.
request time
I really want to encourage anyone with a love for mystery, action, and medieval low-fantasy to check out "Fate Undone: A Novella" (think "gritty Lord of the Rings meets Christopher Nolan's Memento"). This novella grew from a few chapters in the very first novel I ever finished. Of course, "Fate Undone" is much more polished than my old work. Aside from many small tweaks, the entire (original) linear storyline has been tossed on its head and thrown in reverse (in a very fun way that required me to heavily outline everything before the actual writing began). So, if any of this sounds even remotely interesting, please check it out, and make sure to read to the very end.
