interview #9 @QueenDarquesse

1 what do you enjoy most of Wattpad?

Ever since joining Wattpad I feel as though I've changed how I look at both my writing and my future. I've gained more confidence in my writing abilities as well as being given the opportunity able to explore different avenues in which my writing could take me. Wattpad has given me a great opportunity to connect with a community of equally passionate writers and readers and I can guarantee that you rarely see any other social network with the same amount of pure positivity and encouragement between users that Wattpad has. I can't help feeling that it's a truly beautiful thing to be a part of.

2 what inspired you to write?

Writing and reading has always been a distinguished part of my life. All you need to do is peek inside my closet to see the piles upon piles of my old notebooks; all jam packed with worlds and creatures of my own creation. My imagination often got me into trouble when I was a kid; as I would create whole casts of fabricated monsters and demons to terrorize me in the night, and then save them up to spook my easily-scared brother in the day. It was my second grade teacher who first handed me a small notebook and told me to write my ideas and stories in- perhaps as a way to quiet my talkative young self- and I just haven't stopped writing ever since.

3 what is your favorite movie?

I'm always in constant flux over choosing a favorite movie, but if I absolutely has to choose it would either be...Ferris Bueller's Day Off or Hunt for the Wilderpeople. They're both hilarious, heartfelt, and never fail to make me laugh.

4 what's one of your Wattpad goals?

I'm actually writing a new list of goals at the moment; because my previous one was being featured and I recently achieved that goal. I would have to say my next short term goal would have to be reaching 10K reads before the end of the month, and my long term goal is to reach 1M -with no deadline yet.

5 what's a piece of advice you'd give a newcomer?

The most important thing I've learnt in my time on Wattpad is to not be shy or fake. You attract way more people by being brave, confident and friendly to everyone whose profile you stumbled upon- be a friend not a salesman.

Also don't be afraid to make dumb jokes in the comments of stories you like and tell the author what you legitimately like about their story. After that, I've learnt it's best to go back and work hard on your own story.

Fulfill it to the best of your abilities and don't be scared to rewrite a chapter a few times before you get it right. Make your chapters short, be as invested in your characters as you want your audience to be, and end the chapter with just enough mystery and/or allure to keep your audience wanting more.

6 what's your favorite holiday and why?

My favorite holiday is probably Christmas because of the whole general vibe of generosity and connectedness. The whole day just feels like a big warm hug.

7 what's your favorite book?

My favorite book at the moment is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Every chapter is a masterpiece of perfectly painted metaphors and imagery, and not to mention the romance which is just so damn adorable. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good book to read.

8 Are you still surprised when you gain a new vote, follower or comment?

Every single time I get a notification my heart soars in my chest. I'm absolutely humbled by everyone who has decided to read my books. It means a lot.

9 how would you spend a rainy day?

Either writing, drawing or watching Parks and Rec with a bowl of caramel m&ms I've smuggled from my kitchen.

10 what's a song you enjoy? Who is the artist?

Netflix by AJR is one of my favorite songs. It's got everything: a catchy but relaxing beat, a nice message about living life the way you want and lots of references to The Office (yah!).

11 how would you celebrate a publishing deal?

Woah...Honestly, the very idea of getting a publishing deal blows my mind. I think I would have to take a few minutes to just sit in silence, but then I would call up all my friends and family to organize a big party on the beach with a pile of junk food and a heap of celebratory music. My friends and my brother are ones always convincing me to keep writing and I would just take the opportunity to thank them all a thousand times over.

Request time!

My book is called The Hero Project and I have been planning it for quite a while now. It recently got into the featured list and I'm currently very excited about that.

For those who are interested: It's about four kidnapped teens who escape to find that the end of the world has come, and that they might just be the only ones who can save it. Enjoy!
