interview #15 @CreativeDelinquents
1. How would you spend a rainy day?
This is actually a very difficult question because I love the rain and everything about it, especially that after smell! But if I'm feeling up to it I would definitely go for a dance in the rain, just to let all worries dissipate with the rain and just reminisce in the feeling of peace. In other words, pure joy. But of course, there's what to do next or if the rain pours too hard, and to that I would say a nice book and some cold coffee. Personally, just letting the darkness on a rainy day encompass my surroundings only helps me immerse myself in a book that can take me somewhere new, whether it be a wattpad story or a physical book. Finally, if I'm feeling up to it I'd definitely write as I find the rain a cleansing inspiration!
2. What inspired you to write?
At first I would say it's all the stories I read as a child and grew to love more as I grew older. But the more I think about it the more I realize that those stories inspired me to be creative and imagine and that my inspiration to write came from darker times. Those negative feelings were consuming but I knew I needed some light, something to help me cope. It was my escape, and now it's my sanctuary, where each world, each character, and each word holds world's I wish unravel.
3. What's your daily writing routine?
I usually start my routine off with planning where I want to go with the chapter, and I do this in my thoughts, by actually visualizing the scenes unfold and just what would be enticing to a reader. Once I get the general idea I start putting words to the concept. Once I have that written I take a break, removing all thoughts from the story and chapter and focus on something else. Finally, after about an hour I revisit the chapter or whatever I've written and reread it. When I do so I try to focus on the details and add more descriptions and work on the flow. However, sometimes when I want to do something different I just write on a whim and see where my thoughts take me.
4. How would you advise a Wattpad newbie?
The best advice I can give is not to give up! It may be hard to get the reads, votes or comments that you deserve, but don't let it discourage you. It takes time, and when your time comes, it'll be worth it! Also, believe in yourself, and work work work! The more you write, the better you'll get and if you put a little heart into your work, it can't go wrong. As a final word of advice, listen to feedback, but also your heart: it's important to be able to get feedback and comments from readers and reviews and it use it constructively to better your works, but if you see a different path for your story, don't suppress your creativity and listen to what you want as well.
5. If you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?
I would love to have coffee with Brendan Urie, of course from Panic at the Disco! But what's better than coffee, is I would love to just listen to him sing the day away, because with a voice as melodic and ranged as his, what more can you ask for!
6. What's a song you enjoy? Who is the artist?
It really depends on the day and what I'm feeling, and I've got too many I love. At the moment I would say: Suena El Dembow by Joey Montana, and Sebastian Yatra...and Mi Medicina by CNCO.
7. Are you still surprised when you gain a new vote, follow or comment?
Every time! To know that someone is willing to take their time and read, comment and vote on a story I've written is mind blowing. I remember when I started writing on wattpad and to slowly see the reads increase and the votes and comments trickle in, and still I feel like it's all a dream.
8. What's your favorite TV show?
Well technically my favorite TV show was Castle (a 10/10 recommend), but since it's done, I would say America's Got Talent is my new favorite.
9. What's your favorite snack?
An apple, preferably the "red delicious" apple, and yes that is the name of it, and I can confirm they are very red, and even more delicious!
10. Who is your favorite author?
J.K. Rowling: her work taught me to be creative and let my mind run wild with new lands and realistic characters and that love is what I wish to elicit in my readers. And of course, who doesn't love the magical world of Harry Potter
11. How would you celebrate a publishing deal?
I would first thank those who've been there with me along my journey and to let them know how much I appreciate them. I'd probably be passed out by shock unable to comprehend that I've got a deal, but if I were awake I'd definitely have a mini dance party in my room with a lot of Spanish and French music as I rock out alone. There would probably be some screaming in joy involved, and definitely some tears. I might just leave my room to celebrate but being me, I might just invite people to my house instead.
request time!
The story I would like to request is "Safety In Her Silence", which I must first say is a mature novel as it deals with a topic and theme that I hold dear to my heart: suicide and mental health. I would recommend it and think it should be given a read because it has a topic that is prominent and one that I want to bring awareness to. It's a descriptive story, and I try to showcase the internal turmoil and thoughts that someone with such health problems can face. I try to immerse my readers in the life of our protagonist and use emotions to connect readers to my characters. But behind all that it's a story of hope and finding help and a way out from the pain and suffering some call home. If you think this is a story for you then I hope you enjoy, but if not I also understand. I would like to provide a warning of the themes that can be triggering in the story. Thank you for your time whether you give my story a chance or not, and remember to smile, because the smile you give can brighten anyone's day!
