interview #14 @tracyb1111
1 what inspired you to write?
I started writing in 1990 at the age of ten. I started by writing down the details from my dreams ( nightmares) that I was having. My mother's sister who is my aunt believed in my future as A writer and because of her excitement un reading my material and her support I became excited about writing as though it was a new hobby. I started watching " Ghost writer" a role playing genre of a television series on PBS where a group of preteen received clues regarding an unsolved mystery situation.. then in 1992 my mother submitted a poem that I wrote to the local paper and they liked it and published it in their paper. Before her passing in 1998 my aunt told me to continue my path if writing and it wasn't until 2010 when I started recalling traumatic events that I began to write them memories I was having down and turned them into my life stories.

I would recommend reading both books of the books in the series " I Barely Survived: My Story of Love and Violence" by Tracy Shelton. I believe it reaches out to those who may be in a domestic violence situation in understanding that they are not alone. That there are others who have gone through it ( if they survived) and how important it is that they seek help and get away from an abusive and violent relationship. That their lives can easily be lost due to a mere second of violence.."
