interview #17 @Shimaira
1 what's the best way to enjoy a rainy day?
Inside the house, on the couch with a good read or a nice movie/show. Or behind my pc, playing a good game ♥ All whilst wrapped in a fluffy blanket, assuming it's a cold day =P
2 are you still surprised when you get a new vote, follow or comment?
Votes not so much, but I still thank every single person who follows me ♥ New comments always make my heart leap a little bit, because comments mean interaction and I LOVE to interact with my readers =^_^=
3 what's a song you enjoy? Who is the artist?
<insert agonizing wails> Not this question .__. I have too many songs I enjoy T__T But, fine... Let me check my playlist for my current WIP and pick one from there... How about "LABYRINTH" by "OOMPH!" :) That song has a great beat and I found it very fitting for the first part of my story Millennium.
4 what's one Wattpad goal?
I wanted to say "wattys" but... no... A big goal for me would be to get a publishing deal and actually hold a physical copy of one of my books while it gets sold all over the world thanks to wattpad ♥_♥
5 what's your favorite snack?
... I don't have one .__. it all depends on my mood and cravings... even time of the year ^_^;; I don't snack a lot either :x But I suppose beef jerky will always make me happy--and Cadbury flakes :3 (I've had a fan on wattpad send me Cadbury in the past ♥ I kept the wrappers to never forget this amazing gesture =^_^= )
6 what's your favorite holiday and why?
Eh... A lot of holidays mean nothing to me and those that do tend to have a little bittersweet edge ^_^;; I suppose I always like the Halloween season because everything gets dark and there are a lot of horror movies on--but with Netflix these days, any day can be Halloween. Xmas is always nice cos of the time off work and all the eating (and for new year's day I always spend a day in the kitchen with my mom, baking stuff :) I enjoy that.)
7 what's your favorite thing about Wattpad?
The community ♥ I love the people here :D The thing I love most are getting comments on my works (and leaving comments when I read other's works). Interacting with readers and authors is what makes me happy. Like, let's gush together about the things we like!
I wish there was more interaction even (a lot of readers tend to be silent ones :( )
8 what inspired you to write?
I started writing when I was a teen because it's what my friends were doing (hey, beats doing stupid stuff like smoking). I kept writing because it was a way to vent my emotions and also to work through a lot of difficult stuff. I used to have a lot of nightmares, and writing was a way for me to cope. I've used a lot of dreams and nightmares as inspiration for stories :)
9 what's a good piece of advice for a newcomer?
Keep writing ♥ You can't improve if you don't write :) Also, don't be afraid to ask for feedback. Plenty of people want to help, but some writers are too afraid (insecure? or perhaps even narcissistic?) to want to listen to feedback. When I started writing, my writing skills were utter crap :x It's thanks to feedback that I managed to improve ♥
10 if you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?
.__. I'm really starting to feel like a weirdo now... I don't have a favourite celeb (mainly because I don't care, can't remember faces well, and suck at remembering names too). I tend to be more interested in characters than I am in who plays them.
That said... I really enjoy the works by Stephen King, but I'd feel weird just hanging out with him all day because as much as I enjoy his books... I never bothered to look into his life much or get to know about him as a person. But maybe we can just talk books all day and about inspiration? Idk .__.
11 how would you celebrate a publishing deal?
By bombarding all my social media (lol, just Facebook, twitter, and wattpad) with screams of glee xD I actually as good as ran down the hall at work when wattpad accepted one of my stories years ago for featuring... So I'd probably do that again if I found out while at work.
But really? I'd probably just stare at my screen for a while, grinning, silently crying or with small whimpers, unsure how to react. Then call my parents and my in-laws and arrange for a big dinner. (My best friends all live in another country, sadly, so they'll just have to do with written messages of extreme glee.)

Blood is not always red...
~
Fleeing from tragedy, Meya travels east in the hope of finding a better life. Instead, she's captured by a slave trader and sold to Lord Deminas, patron of the local lands. Known for his cruelty, she dreads having to work as his chambermaid. Yet, when he drinks her blood, he uses his own to heal her wounds. All the previous chambermaids have disappeared and Meya fears, will her fate be the same? Or is Lord Deminas playing a different game with her?
I actually started MY LORD because I was feeling a bit grumpy about how certain books were popular despite the ... men not being decent guys (and the women often being ... weak). So, I wanted to try my hand at certain tropes and cliches and change stuff around.
Because of that, I ended up with a pretty "grey" character for the "bad boy" where--I hope--by the end you're still not quite sure if the Lord is good or evil. There is no stereotypical love-triangle. The "romance" I think qualifies as "slow burn" despite all the teasing (which, when readers comment about it, will never cease to make me giggle evilly). There's LGBTQ cos, hey, I'm queer ♥ Oh, and I made my own type of "vampire" :3
~Oh, and furthermore... the few kinky things I put into this story are not the more "common" stuff you find xD so no whips for a change =P
~~And lastly: consent matters. Because seriously, consent is sexy. We need more stories that show this.
