interview #26 @ElleryHart
1 what's the best way to enjoy a rainy day?
Curled up with a book you're writing or a book you're reading near a window, possibly with a blanket.
2 if you could gain advice from your favorite author, who would you choose and what would you ask?
There are a lot of authors I love out there, but I think I would want to ask J.K. Rowling about her writing process. How did create all the history behind her books and how did she organize it and outline it and work it in. How much of it did we get to see and how much didn't get into a book? How did she decide what made it or not? Is there anything she would do differently? I would really love to know how she and other authors think when they're writing.
3 what's your schedule regarding your writing?
I usually start writing between 8 - 9 a.m. and I'll keep writing until I've got 2,000 words even if I have to stop and them come back to it later. I just started that schedule a few weeks ago and I love it. Before my writing was going slowly and I'd get bored because I didn't make much progress, but I love this! I think giving myself a word count rather than a time limit was a huge factor. I try to get it done by 11am or sooner and then I can move on to other things in my day, but writing comes first or it won't get done and I'll be annoyed for not doing it the rest of the day.
4 what's your favorite thing about Wattpad?
I love the camaraderie! People are so friendly and willing to include and help each other. I love having an unlimited library, but the community is amazing.
5 what's a song you enjoy? Who is the artist?
Thank you for saying 'a song' and not 'your favorite song' because that is an impossible question and my favorite songs are constantly changing! Right now I really like Anne's Theme by Hagood Hardy among others (Anne of Green Gables theme song).
6 if you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?
J.K. Rowling and we would talk about writing.
7 what's your favorite movie?
I can't pick a favorite move because that's always changing as well, but I really like movies like Stardust and The Spiderwick Chronicles. I really like modern magic movies so if there are any recommendations, I would love to hear them!
8 what's your favorite holiday and why?
Probably Thanksgiving. I love the fall and that's the Holiday when the extended family all try to get together, which is fun. The weather is beautiful and it's sort of the beginning of the season of holidays with Christmas and all that entails and then New Years.
9 Are you still surprised when you get a new vote, follow or comment?
I LOVE getting comments because, as a writer, all I really want to know is what the reader is thinking. I've often wished I could read the reader's mind while they read my story so I could see exactly how they're seeing the story because that would help me see what needed to be fixed, clarified or left alone in my books. I'm not surprised exactly when I get new followers because I'm a judge on The Pen and Ink Awards so I get several as they enter, but when someone directly interacts with my work it's always thrilling!
10 what's your favorite snack?
I don't eat snacks that often, but I really love cold banana bread. Like, right out of the fridge with whipped cream. It's so good.
11 what's one Wattpad goal?
when I first started I don't know if I really had a goal besides get noticed and get my books read. Right now, I'm more focused on creating a book that I want to share and I'm focusing on making it the best that it can be before I post it anywhere. I think my goal would be to meet other writers. It's wonderful to find others who love what you love and struggle with what you struggle with!
Request time!
For my request, I would appreciate it if ya'll checked out my book Red Spell. For those of you who love fantasy and fairytale retellings, this is a new version of Little Red Riding Hood. I believe I can write better now just because I keep learning every day, but it's often hard to see my own mistakes and I would love constructive feedback on it. I also just like it a lot and it feels good to have that completed story to look at and think 'I did that'.
