series promotion: @EmilyMorgans, Spellbound

1. What is the title of your series?

It's called Spellbound, and it's a series of fantasy romance stories.

2. What inspired the idea of your series?

It's an amalgamation of a number of fantasy stories I started when I was younger, combined into one universe. It's playing with the idea of seeing what happens in a fantasy world *after* the big bad has been defeated (which is usually the culmination of a regular fantasy arc), but focused on the love stories happening in the world as it's recovering from the big battle. (And the hints that maybe not everything is as settled/defeated as they thought.)

3. How many books are in your series?

There are currently three, plus a short story in the same universe.

4. Is it the only series on your profile?

No, I also have a series of Historical Romances (Regency era) called The Howertys.

5. What do you desire readers take away from your series?

I'm mainly here to entertain. I hope they come away from my series having enjoyed it and with a feeling of having enjoyed a good romance.

6. Is your series complete or ongoing?

The books on my profile are all complete currently (other than a rewrite of book 1), but the series is ongoing even if I haven't started posting the next one yet.

7. What are your future plans for your series?

I have another five or so stories planned for it. I need to finish my Howerty series (which is currently on the last book), and then I can focus on this one more again. In the meanwhile, I'm rewriting book one to make sure all the new stories will fit into the bigger arc that follows through the whole series (while each book is its own stand-alone romance).

8. What would be a good piece of advice for someone who desires beginning to write a series?

It depends a little on what type of series you write. If it's about the same couple, you can plan it out similar to a single book, but find suitable places to end each, leaving each still able to stand on its own with a beginning-middle-end. For a series with books that are more separated, choose a theme or a series arc and make sure you plan it out and see how it connects to each of the stories.

9. Do you prefer writing a series over a standalone novel?

As a romance writer, I kind of do. Each of my books is its own stand-alone romance with its own couple and happy ending, but I love them all taking place in the same universe, and getting the chance to sometimes pop in and check on previous couples in other books.

10. Who is your main character? Are there any similarities between you and your main character?

Since I have a different couple for each book, I have lots of main characters. For the sake of the question, let's choose Shae from book 1. She's married to the High King in an arranged marriage and they are basically strangers to each other. The war leading up to the battle with the "big bad" was devastating to her as she lost her mother and brother when her home was attacked, and it's left her with some deep scars. She doesn't want to leave herself vulnerable or risk loving anyone again because she doesn't want to ever feel the devastating loss of losing someone she loves. It makes the arranged marriage to her husband rather difficult lol (Not helped by her being convinced he's in love with the Sorceress he helped save the world.)

I can't say I'm much like Shae at all. We probably share the same pragmatism at times, but I certainly can't shoot a bow!

11. What does your character go through in the series?

She has to deal with her attraction for her handsome husband, Felix, even if she doesn't want to, and decide whether she dares to leave herself vulnerable by letting him into her heart or not. Oh, and some more physical threats along the lines of attacks and murder attempts... but minor details, right? lol

12. What does having readers for any of your stories mean to you?

I love readers! The interactive features of Wattpad are the main reason I stick around. Having someone vote or interact with your story via comments is an amazing feeling – and also very helpful in a sense, since it can give you an idea of what works or not.

1. What type of stories do you like to read?

I definitely love reading a good romance story. When not reading romance, I read thrillers and horror mainly. Some general fiction. I used to read a lot of fantasy, but it's been a while since I read a pure fantasy now.

2. What type of music do you like to listen to?

Almost anything. I skew towards rock and metal though, but I don't mind a catchy pop song or ballad.

3. What is one of your favorite stories that you've read on Wattpad?

The Dreamweaver's Daughter by @emc_scribbles . It's a wonderful story and her prose is just amazing.

4. What do you believe is better for a story? {Quality or Quantity}

Quality over quantity, always.

5. Are you more likely to check out an ongoing or completed story?

I have very little time to read these days, so I rarely choose between ongoing or completed. If a premise interests me, I will check it out. Whether it's finished or not matters a lot less.
