series promotion: Forgotten @AMLKoski

1 What is the title of your series?

The title of my series is the Forgotten.

2 What inspired the idea of your series?

Honestly, the first book started out as a redo of the cliched, 'abused omega leaves and comes back' trope but I turned it on its head and wrote a realistic situation about how abuse actually affects a person and how its a life long process to healing from it. So the series started out there and then I wanted to continue to write books that dealt with issues in realistic ways. So infertility, disability, racism, toxic relationships, systemic injustice, ect, basically all things that have been used so very poorly in the paranormal genre. I wanted to write it all appropriately and realistically.

3 How many books are in your series?

There are 6 written books and I am currently starting to write the seventh. There are 9 books planned though and if I am able, there might be a 10th secret book at the very end.

4 Is it the only series on your profile?

Not at all! I have two other series. One is called Twisted Dark, an dark novella series about witches and werewolves. And the other is Modern Cliches, a humorous novella series about werewolves, vampires, and demons.

5 What do you desire readers take away from your series?

To treat each other fairly and to never take things at face value. I want them to come away with a keen understanding of psychology and trauma and how these things take time to heal and how not everyone heals the same way and how not everyone responds to trauma the same way.

6 is your series complete or ongoing?

Definitely on-going. Just getting ready to start on book 7. Which is going to be HUGE. Its looking like it will be one of the longer books in the series based on what my outline is resting at.

7 What are your future plans for your series?

I'm hoping to finish it up so I can move onto another series! The Forgotten has a specific world plotline that will run its course to the end in book 9. So there isn't much left to write for this series.

I kind of wrote myself into a corner when I made the world plotline so I don't have as much freedom in writing this series as I do with Twisted Dark or Modern Cliches.

8 What would be a good piece of advice for someone who desires beginning to write a series?

Plan, plan, plan. Practice, practice, practice. And never stop asking questions. You need to build your world before you start writing inside of it. Also a series is a HUGE undertaking so know what you are getting into. Ive been writing the Forgotten since 2014-2015. So its been 6-7 years ans I have about 2 more years left before I finish. So its a long commitment to get it written and finished.

9 Do you prefer writing a series over a standalone novel?

I honestly prefer writing series, despite how taxing an overwhelming they can be. I find that I leave so much out when I write a standalone novel. I create a world and then only show a part of it or only tell a single character's story. I like the idea of writing more about the world and giving other characters their happily ever afters.

10 Who is your main character? Are there any similarities between you and your main character?

My series doesn't really have a singular main character. Each book has their own set and yes, I always write bits and pieces of who I am into the characters. With Maricella is was my background she has the patience and softness I wish I had. She got my crude sense of humor and my distrust. Lace got my love of puns and willingness to take in and love adopted children as her own, Sorrel got my anger, Lynn got my struggle with learning I couldn't have children, Lilith is my outlook that everything happens for a reason and my optimistic attitude that everything will be okay.

11 What does your character go through in the series?

They all go through so many things. We discuss many issues and traumas through the series and each character gets a place in living with it or working through it.

12 What does having readers for any of your stories mean to you?

It makes me happy that other people see a book I wrote that I personally wanted to read, and have them want to read it as well. It makes me happy to see others get joy from the stories I make.

1 What type of stories do you like to read?

Everything but mystery, thriller, and horror. However one main thing I need to have is a happy ending. They always need to have a happy ending.

2 What type of music do you like to listen to?

A bit of everything. I listen to whatever has a good beat, I can sing along to, and what can take me somewhere else for a moment. So I can like everything from folk music to classical, to rock, and everything in between.

3 What is one of your favorite stories that you've read on wattpad?

I have quite a few. They are all in my reading lists. So if you wanna see, go check them out!

4 What do you believe is better for a story? {Quality or Quantity}

Quality. The story has to be well written in terms of plot and themes and just actual writing.

5 Are you more likely to check out an ongoing or completed story?

I definitely prefer completed but depending on the author I will pick up incomplete books.
