series promotion: The Gifting Series @Sevannah_Storm
1 What is the title of your series?
The Gifting Series
2 What inspired the idea of your series?
The Gifting series started as a tormenting dream, that kept on expanding with every night's sleep.
3 How many books are in your series?
I plan about 18, 6 written, need to work on the 7th.
4 Is it the only series on your profile?
Nope, I have 3, and The Cursed Guardian will be split into 2 books at a later stage.
5 What do you desire readers take away from your series?
Fun reads, love conquers all, you don't have to be perfect to find love.
6 is your series complete or ongoing?
ongoing
7 What are your future plans for your series?
Soul Forged (Book 1 of The Gifting) will be traditionally published in Nov 2021. I want to release books 2 - 6 after this. They will be coming off Wattpad one by one.
8 What would be a good piece of advice for someone who desires beginning to write a series?
Don't write any more than the first. Get that sold before you write more. The story changes so much during the editing phase. I made the mistake of writing books 1 - 5 for The Gifting. I wanted to solidify the world-building, now I am left with 5 books to edit and rewrite. Writing is a craft, perfected with practice, which means going back to fix your writing mistakes.
9 Do you prefer writing a series over a standalone novel?
Each story in my series is a standalone, and there are pros and cons to both. Writing a series means making sure your facts are in line. It's advisable to write nothing but the series, keeping the characters' traits and the world-building fresh in your mind. But, alas, we grow bored and need something new. When we come back to the series, it requires that we read the books before, to ensure accuracy and voice are in line.
10 Who is your main character? Are there any similarities between you and your main character?
Soul Forged's Oriana - she's a know-it-all, which is me at my day job.
11 What does your character go through in the series?
Oriana loses every person who loved her and thinks she can face life alone. But when she is thrown into extraordinary circumstances, she discovers friendship and love, and that she doesn't need to be alone.
12 What does having readers for any of your stories mean to you?
I love their feedback. It helps me tweak the stories. E.g.: I receive consistent reactions to my male characters in the Plump Playwright series. Unfortunately, they behave as men do. I love it! You can always tell which readers didn't grow up with brothers.
1 What type of stories do you like to read?
Mostly romance. I am an editor now, so I read what I'm editing, on repeat. For enjoyment, I do like Martha Wells and Stephanie Laurens.
2 What type of music do you like to listen to?
Eclectic. I have my gran's influence, along with my mother's. Grew up listening to my brother's Green Day, Metallica, Guns and Roses, Offspring, Nirvana, so I like a bit of that. My playlists are divided into decades, 50's, 60's, etc. My current fave is Florence and the Machine.
3 What is one of your favorite stories that you've read on wattpad?
Favorite to me is one I reread. I haven't found any like that. I did thoroughly enjoy Space Spinster by @DomiSotto.
4 What do you believe is better for a story? {Quality or Quantity}
Hands down, quality. My time is precious, and if I need to be held to the strict standards of the literary industry, I expect the same from authors I read.
5 Are you more likely to check out an ongoing or completed story?
Completed, and only if they get past the first line test, the first paragraph test, the first page test, the first chapter test.
