Childhood
Mum screamed at Dad,
he yelled right back,
I was 10..
when I was told to pack,
My mind was empty;
my room was dark,
I left my friends,
and that left a mark.
Everything later
had a steep down fall,
I pretended to be blind,
but I'd seen it all,
The fights were worse,
my world was crashing down,
But my lips stayed pressed,
face sculpted into a frown.
They never seemed to notice
what it was doing to me,
I wanted them to listen
when I screamed to be free,
I wanted them to see
the dreams I've harbored,
Alas they never saw,
alas they never heard.
I always tried to follow
whatever they said,
But to my pricked heart
no attention they paid,
They saw my good deeds
they cheered my victories,
And when they vanished
I was alone in unease.
At a blinding speed
a question crashed into me,
Had I lost their affection
in the grueling sea?
I paid no heed
to the stupid question,
What more had I asked for
than their attention?
I sighed deeply
the tears have dried,
I wash my face,
so they don't know I've cried,
The action is useless
cause they won't care anyway,
I don't want to get ahead of myself
so that's all I'll say.
