{NIGHT TERRORS - 3}
A/N: This is not at all edited but I'm exhausted, hopefully you guys enjoy this update!
"We went, we went into the cupboard..." Alex starts to stand slowly, Willow and The Doctor already up, looking around the dining room with food and plates set out on a long wooden table. "We went into the cupboard. How can it be bigger in here?"
"More common than you'd think, actually," The Doctor smells a chicken laid out and Willow picks up a cup, tapping on it and quickly dropping it "You' okay?"
"Where are we?"
"Obvious, isn't it?"
"No!" Alex shouts, clearly anxious and freaking out
"Dolls' house. We're inside the dolls' house,"
"The dolls' house?"
"Yeah, in the cupboard, in your flat. The dolls' house!" The Doctor clarifies and Willow sighs, The Doctor was so caught up in his own head he never really realised how scary this stuff could be to others.
"No, no, just slow down, would you?" Alex starts pacing but The Doctor quickly stop him by throwing things at him
"Look. Wooden chicken. Cups, saucers, plates, knives, forks, fruit, chickens," he throws each object "Wood. So, we're either inside the dolls' house or this a refuge for dirty posh people who eat wooden food. Or termites. Giant termites trying to get on the property ladder," The Doctor has a smile on his face through all of this before he dismisses the thought, then changes his mind "No. That's possible. Is that possible?" The Doctor walks out and Alex drops everything he caught, rushing after him and Willow
"Look, will you stop? What is he? What is George? And how could I forget that Claire can't have kids? How?" Alex stop The Doctor from continuing down the hallway.
"Perception filter," Willow guesses and The Doctor continues walking and explaining more in depth
"Some kind of hugely powerful perception filter. Convinced you and Claire, everyone. Made you change your memories. Now, what could do that?" He stares at himself in the mirror, checking if there's anything in his teeth before walking away. The creepy atmosphere makes Willow grab The Doctor's hand and he pulls her along gently, silently thanking that she was becoming comfortable around him again.
---------&---------
The three are walking through the entrance hall "So, Claire can't have kids and something responded to that. Responded to that need. What could do that?"
"I thought you were the experts, fighting monsters all day long. You tell me!"
"Oi! Listen, mush. Old eyes, remember?" The Doctor stares at Alex "I've been around the block a few times. More than a few. They've knocked down the blocks I've been round and re-built them as bigger blocks. Super blocks. And I've been round them as well. I can't remember everything!" A strange noise starts and The Doctor starts rambling as Alex tries to get his attention
"Doctor, listen!" Willow shouts, slapping his arm
"Shush. What's that?"
"Timelords," Willow mutters quietly in exasperation.
"t's the lift. It's the sound that the lift makes. George is scared stiff of it," The electric lights in the bulbs on the candelabra go out one by one "Five times..."
"Pardon?" Willow walks over to where Alex crouched staring at the candelabra.
"The lights. It's happening five times. It's like one of George's habits. We have to switch the lights on and off five times,"
"Now you're getting it," The Doctor walks over and Alex stands
"What do you mean?"
"What do you tell George to do, Alex, with everything that scares him?"
"Well... put it in the cupboard,"
"Exactly. And George isn't just an ordinary little boy, we know that now, so anything scary he puts in here. Scary toys -"
"Like the dolls' house," Willow gives an example
"Scary noises,"
"Like the lift,"
"Even his little rituals have become part of it. A psychic repository for all his fears, but what is he?" A doll with ginger string for hair enters and Willow jumps, stepping backwards as The Doctor pulls out his sonic and points.
"A gun? You've got a gun?" Alex shouts whilst Willow also grabs here own sonic, trying to scan it, but nothing happens,
"It's not a gun," she informs Alex, grabbing the doctor's hand "It's wood!"
"I've got to invent a setting for wood. It's embarrassing!" He rushes around and grabs a pair of lar.ge pink scissors and prods the doll.
"Don't run away. We just want to play," The doll shouts as the three escape out inti the many hallways. They soon find themselves at the bottom of a large staircase.
"Massive psychic field, perfect perception filter, and that need. That need of Claire's to, to -" The Doctor starts rambling and when he Figueres it out, he slaps himself "Stupid Doctor. Ow! George is a Tenza. Of course, he is!"
"He's a what?" Alex is using the scissors to attack the red-headed doll whilst other Peg dolls are approaching from all directions.
"A cuckoo. A cuckoo in the nest. A Tenza. He's a Tenza. Millions of them hatch in space and then whoomph, off they drift, looking for a nest. The Tenza young can sense exactly what their foster parents want and then they assimilate perfectly,"
"George is an alien?"
"Yep!" Willow answers, starting to lead the other two up the stairs "technically me and the doctor are as well, I wouldn't panic,"
"But he's our child I mine and Clair's,"
"Of course, he is. The child you always wanted. He sensed that instinctively and sought you out, but something scared him. Started this cycle of fear. It's all completely instinctive, subconscious. George isn't even aware that he's controlling it. So, we have to make him aware. George!" The Doctor shouts up us peg dolls start to climb the stairs
"George, you're the only one who can stop this! But you have to believe. You have to believe. You have to know you're safe. I can't save you from the monsters. Only you can. George, listen to me!2 Nothing happens "George, listen to me!"
Willow feels someone bump into her and she looks up where Rory is suddenly there, hitting peg dolls with a broom "Rory!"
"Willow! Doctor!"
"Where's Amy?" The Doctor quickly asks, noticing her lack of presence. Rory points at the red-headed doll that tried to attack them earlier
"Oh no." Willow stares at her mother " George! George, you have to face your fears!" she shouts up desperately "You have to face them now! Right now!"
"You have to open the cupboard, or we'll all be trapped here forever in a living death. George!" The Doctor continues.
"George, listen to us. George! George, listen to us, George!"
"Please! George, you have to end this. End this. End it. End it now!" And it does...For a moment.
"George. George, you did it. You did it!"
Willow notices how scared the boy looks and reaches down "Hey, it's okay. It's all okay now. Everything's going to be fine," The dolls start moving again and Rory is pushed closer to Willow who is starting to become shoved up next to The Doctor.
"No! No! No, no, no, no, no. George, you created this whole world. This whole thing. You can smash it. You can destroy it!" George shakes his head "Something's holding him back. Something's holding him back. Something -" The Doctor Hits himself in the head as he remembers
"That's what did it. That's what the trigger was. He thought you were rejecting him. He thought he wasn't wanted, that someone was going to come and take him away," The Doctor turns to Alex.
"Well, we, we talked about it,"
"Yeah, and he heard you!" Willow shouts over at him.
"A Tenza's sole function is to fit in, to be wanted, and you were rejecting him,"
"We just couldn't cope! We needed help!"
"Yes, but George didn't know that. He thought you were rejecting him. He still thinks it,"
"But how can we keep him? How can we? He's not -"
"Not what?" Willow asks darkly, knowing where he was going with it
"He's not human,"
"So?" He's your son!" the dolls surround George and he shouts out 'Dad!'. Alex's eyes widen and he pushes through the dolls and grabs George.
"Whatever you are, whatever you do, you're my son, and I will never, ever send you away. Oh, George. Oh, my little boy," A bright light surrounds everyone and they all disappear.
