{POND LIFE}
January
Alex's age: 0
"Do you think babies can actually understand us?" Amy asks one day as she watches Willow change Alex's diaper.
"What?"
"I mean...The Doctor can speak to babies, and they understand him, but do they understand humans?"
"I don't know!" Willow laughs "I guess The Doctor is technically speaking 'baby' when he speaks to them, but we just hear English. So no, they can't,"
"Hm... boring," Amy turns around and exits the TARDIS nursery.
The ponds were back on board for the occasional trip and Willow and the Doctor were getting used to parenting. When Willow had re-entered the house on Christmas, she wasn't exactly sure how to bring up the fact River had most likely broken into a secure security faculty to rescue her niece. So, she'd asked to speak to The Doctor privately for a minute, and he'd cried when he saw Alexandra, and he still cried sometimes when he went into the nursery to check on her.
He'd slept in the nursery for months after she returned, and Willow had only recently coaxed him into bed with her, but he still left in the middle of the night occasionally. Willow couldn't blame him though, she found herself waking up from nightmares where her daughter was taken again and she has to rush to the nursery to check she's there. And she is, sleeping peacefully or staring up at the ceiling where The Doctor had made it so stars circled around.
February
Alex's age: 1
Amy and Rory are asleep on the sofa, and a small cot is set up in the corner where Alex is laying, staring up at the mobile above her head. Willow knocks on the door and Rory groans as Willow uses her own key to get in, knowing her parents were probably exhausted.
"Just me!" she shouts, walking through the house and when she gets to the living room, she sees Alex sit up, reaching out for her "Hey darling," she picks her up and Alex giggles, playing with her mother's hair and pulling it up to her own, trying to see if they looked the same "how was she?" Willow asks her parents who were slowly waking up.
"Hm, great, yeah," Amy puts both thumbs up with her eyes closed
"Good, I'll leave you two for Nap time," Willow laughs, picking up Alex's care bag and leaving the house.
March
Alex's age: 2
"I'm worried," Willow admits as her and The Doctor sit at the edge of the TARDIS, Alex in The Doctor's arms "They say babies should start speaking at 12 months but -"
"She'll be fine," The Doctor reassures, looking at his wife "She's just a late bloomer,"
"But you said that she'd be more advanced,"
"I may have exaggerated...a bit,"
"of course, you did," Willow shakes her head and leans in to kiss Alex's forehead.
"Don't worry, soon she'll be able to name every star in the sky,"
"Sure," Willow laughs, kissing The Doctor as Alex starts to mouth something and she points at something far off.
"St-st-sta," she starts and Willow and The Doctor's eyes widen as they stay silent, both not wanting to interrupt what was happening "sta, star! star!" Willow and The Doctor laugh and The Doctor kisses Alex's forehead, congratulating her as she rambles on and on, repeating 'star'. Willow watches, smiling at The Doctor and their daughter bonding.
April
Alex's age: 3
Inside the Williams' household, the answerphone message is playing "Hello, Ponds. Checking in. How are you?"
The Doctor is carrying a surfboard, and confronting Sontarans, "Not much to report. Surfed the fire falls of Florinall Nine. Not deliberately, just the easiest way out," He leaps from a spaceship and The TARDIS appears in the air, Willow is inside, holding Alex as she rushes around the console "Willow had to save me from that..."
"That I did!" Willow can be heard in the background.
Next, The Doctor's toasting muffins by a fire.
"Met Mata Hari in a Paris hotel room whilst River was babysitting Alex," Mata Hari undresses for him "What an interesting woman," A bullet races past her and Willow walks into the room, raising an eyebrow at her husband who looks rather sheepish.
"Laid down some backing vocals," The Doctor is in a recording studio and Willow is laying back on a sofa watching Alex run back and forth.
"I should be with you any day now. Literally any day. Helmic regulator's playing up. Can't get the temporal steering right,"
Amy and Rory are leaning on a kitchen counter, two glasses of wine between them as they listen "Oh dear, I appear to have collided with ancient Greece..."
"Okay, we have definitely collided with ancient Grease!" Willow shouts back and Rory turns off the message.
"The Doctor and Willow," Amy raises a glass and they both drink to them.
May
Alex's age: 4
The Doctor bursts into Amy and Rory's bedroom, covering his eyes "Argh! Stop everything!"
"What's going on?" Rory sits up
"Doctor! Bedroom!" Amy shouts
"We have a rule about the bedroom," Rory reminds him
"No one on this planet is safe right now. We have to solve this before it's too late. Get your clothes on. If we move fast, we at least stand a chance -" Amy and Rory look at him blankly "and you have no idea what I'm talking about, do you?"
"No,"
"No? Helmic regulator again! Too early. Wrong point. As you were!" The Doctor leaves "Willow, Alex, we've got it wrong again!"
"You got it wrong daddy," Alex laughs
"Hush!"
"Doctor, you can't just go like that! What's happening? Don't we need to know?" Amy shouts out into the hallway, still in bed.
The Doctor sighs before returning and sitting by Amy on the bed, Willow enters as well and Alex sits on her lap.
"Hi nanny!"
"Ugh...still getting used to that..." Amy mutters, letting Alex hold her hand as she waves to Rory who smiles.
"Popped up in the wrong order. Easy mistake to make. Nothing to alarm you. Forget I was ever here. I'll be back soon enough; I would have thought..." The Doctor stands "Everything's fine, pretty much. Don't worry about the future. The future is really..." He thinks to what he'd just seen, with a large spaceship and adult Alex "Really, really, safe. Sleep well," he mutters before dashing off.
"Bye," Willow gets up as well, forcing Alex on her feet "Try not to have nightmares about everything he's just said" she rushes off and the couple can hear the TARDIS dematerialising.
"I really hate it when they do that," Ryrie mutters.
June
Alex's age: 5
It's the morning and Rory is fastening his dressing gown and heading for the bathroom. He enters but quickly exits.
"Whoa!"
Amy exits now, trying to get into the bathroom "Out of the way, Mister Pond," Rory shakes his head "What? Why not?" Rory slowly opens the door and both peek in to see an Ood sitting on the toilet.
"May I be of any assistance?"
"Ood on the loo," Rory explains
"Yeah...
July
Alex's age: 6
In the TARDIS, under the time console, the Doctor is on the phone as he tries to teach Alex how to fix the TARDIS, she seems to be doing a better job than him.
"Ood. Yes, I was wondering where he'd got to. I thought he'd just gone for a walk in the TARDIS!" Amy and Rory are listening to the message on their phone whilst having breakfast. "Must have wandered off when Willow and Alex visited the other day. If it was the other day..." Amy steals one of Rory's sausages and he smacks her hand away.
"You know, I rescued him from the middle of the Androvax conflict. I was taking him back to the Ood Sphere. Anyway, he's not being a nuisance, is he?"
No, he is in fact the perfect housekeeper, he passes Amy and Rory their lunches.
"Enjoy your workday experience,"
"Cheers," Rory thanks and whilst him and Amy are at work, the Ood's making the beds, putting out the washing and cleaning the windows.
"Willow? He seems to think that he's our butler," Rory is now on the phone to Willow the next day
"He's conditioned to serve. The best thing is, let him do just that. The Doctor says he'll come and pick him up tonight. 'Whenever tonight is'. He's really getting bad with time. I mean...Alex is six, Six! The phrase they grow up fast..." Speak of the devil, Alex rushes past in a dark green dress, holding several books "Oi! Come and say his to grandad!" Alex sighs, putting her books down and taking the phone from her mother, staring to chat away happily to Rory.
The Ponds continue to have an Ood servant "I feel so guilty," Rory mutters one morning over the dining table.
"Just eat your breakfast," Amy instructs.
August
Alex's age: 7
The Doctor is changing the bulb on the top of the TARDIS whilst leaving a message on the answerphone "Me again. Sorry about the gaps in communications. Dropped your Ood back home. Reconnected it to the hive mind. Helmic regulator's still not working... Got hit by an arrow at Hastings Hill. Also rode a horse through eleventh century Coventry. Also, I think Alex may have accidentally invented pasta. I popped 'round but you were out," The Doctor knocks on the blue door, holding an umbrella in one hand, Alex's hand in his other "Which is fine. Everything's all right, isn't it, with you two?"
Rory rushes out of the house, a coat in hand and Amy walks out after him, crying and shouting.
"Course it is...Ponds always fine. Just worrying unnecessarily. Anyway, just call me if you need me," The Doctor gets off the ladder, putting in back inside "Okay? Toodle pip!" he takes out his sonic and thinks for a moment before activating it over the phone.
"Have you done that?" Willow asks, walking into the console room "Alex said she'd have to 'have words with you' if you didn't fix the light soon," Willow stops as she notices the look on The Doctor's face "Are you okay..?" she putts her hand on his cheek and he outs his hand over hers.
"Yeah...fine, just worrying about them..."
"I know," Willow nods, having the same thoughts.
Back at the Williams' house, the answerphone starts again "Message deleted," Amy comes home and immediately checks the answerphone to see there are no messages. She then takes out her mobile, seeing that her last text from Willow was about Alex accidentally meeting Elizabeth the first.
"We need you, Willow, Raggedy man..." A tear slips down Amy's face "I need you,".

A/N: So...yes Alex has aged up very quickly in this but I know nothing about babies and personally I think The Doctor was staying away for much longer than a few months - I mean, he's terrible with time keeping as shown in the original version of Pond Life on youtube. Don't worry though, there will be plenty of content with child and teenage Alex!
