{THE ANGELS TAKE MANHATTAN - 4}

Rory and Amy are laying on the ground of a cemetery, Rory sits up first, looking around as Amy pops up.

"Where are we?" Rory questions and The Doctor comes running over

"Back where we started. You collapsed the timeline. The paradox worked. We all pinged back where we belong!"

"What, in a graveyard?"

"This happened the last time. Why always here?" Amy stands up and Rory follows suit as Willow joins The Doctor by them.

"Does it matter? We got lucky. We could've blown New York off the planet. I can't ever take the TARDIS back there. The timelines are too scrambled," The Doctor is smiling happily, suddenly full of energy, he pulls the Pond parents into a hug "I could have lost you both. Don't ever do that again.,"

"What did we do? We fixed it. We solved the problem," Rory says slowly and Willow laughs as The Doctor walks away

"I was talking to myself," as he leaves, Willow hugs her father. He's a bit shocked at first, but hugs her back and she gives him a tight squeeze before moving onto Amy

"God that was a stressful two hours" Willow mutters into her hair and Amy laughs. Willow lets go and back at the TARDIS, River and The Doctor are cleaning the outside after the fire extinguisher incident.

Willow walks over to them and River turns to her "It could do with a repaint,"

"We've been busy," Willow waves her off

"Does the bulb on top need changing?" River smirks, knowing It'll get a rise out of her brother-in-law.

"I just changed it!"

"So, Rory and Amy, then -"

"Yes. I know, I know," The Doctor waves a sponge at her and Willow laughs

"I'm just saying! They're going to get terribly bored hanging 'round here all day,"

"Doctor!" Rory shouts as him and Amy walk up to him.

"Ha!" he spins and waves his arms about

"Look, next time, could we could just go to the pub?"

"Oh, I wish I could go to a pub," Willow sighs and River pats her back in fake sympathy.

"I want go to the pub right now. Are there video games there? I love video games!"

"Oh no..." Willow is dreading the experience already, but she would be with her family and that's all that matters.

"Right. Family outing, then!" River heads inside the TARDIS

"We need to get Alex, I do not trust Jack with her," Willow follows

"Yes, yes that is a priority," The Doctor also enters and Amy goes to, but Rory calls her back.

"Amy, come and see this,"

"What?" Amy turns

"There's a gravestone here for someone with the same name as me," Rory explains

"What?" Amy walks closer, and as she goes to approach Rory, he's gone.

An angel stands behind where he once stood and Amy's eyes widen, her eyes trained on the angel "Doctor!" Amy shouts helplessly "Doctor!" he comes rushing out, River and Willow following.

"Where the hell did that come from?" River asks, staring at the angel.

The Doctor sonics it, reading the reading quickly "It's a survivor. Very weak, but keep your eyes on it,"

"Where's Rory?" Amy asks

The Doctor walks closer to the angel, catching a glance at the gravestone.

"I'm sorry... Amelia, I'm so, so sorry..." The Doctor looks back at her and Willow looks at the grave, tears forming when she reads it.

"No," Amy shakes her head "No, we can just go and get him in the TARDIS. One more paradox,"

"- Would rip New York apart," The Doctor tells her, grief pouring through into his voice

"No, that's not true. I don't believe you," she keeps shaking her head

"Mother, it's true," River informs her

"They're right...Mum we can't," Willow's voice cracks. Amy steps forward getting closer to the angel

"Amy, what are you doing?" the Doctor asks, walking towards her.

"That gravestone, Rory's, there's room for one more name, isn't there?" There is in fact, room for two.

"What are you talking about?" The Doctor takes her hand, Ut she lets go "Back away from the Angel. Come back to the TARDIS. We'll figure something out!"

"The Angel, would it send me back to the same time? To him?" Amy asks

"I don't know. Nobody knows!"

"But it's my best shot, yeah?"

"No!"

"Doctor, shut up!" River shouts from behind ". Yes. Yes, it is,"

"Willow?" Amy asks

"It's you best chance," Willow chokes back a sob

"Amy..." The Doctor warns as Amy keeps walking

"Well, then. I just have to blink, right?"

"No!"

"It'll be fine. I know it will. I'll be with him, like I should be. Me and Rory together...." she stares the angel dead in the eye "Melody? Willow?"

"Stop it. Just, just stop it!" The Doctor shouts and River takes Amy's hand, kissing it. Amy reaches out to Willow, making a grabbing motion and Willow takes her hand, giving it a squeeze.

"You look after them. You be a good girl, and you look after them," Amy tells River "Willow, You're going to tear yourself a part trying to help him but...Look after yourself, look after Alex, and the twins. Tell them I love them, tell them Rory loves them. And I love you, and Melody. You look after each other, okay?"

"Okay," Willow can't help but look away from the angel, giving her Mother one last glance as River also acknowledges their mother's wishes.

"You are creating fixed time! I will never be able to see you again! Willow will never be able to see you again!" The Doctor keeps protesting

"I'll be fine. I'll be with him,"

"Amy, please, just come back into the TARDIS!" she doesn't respond

"Come along, Pond, please" the Doctor begs.

"Raggedy man..." Amy turns to The Doctor "Goodbye!" she disappears.

"No!" as The Doctor crashes to the ground in sobs, so does Willow. She cries into her hands and tries to look at the angel but can't. River however, is and she pulls Willow up, taking her over to The Doctor so she can take them both inside the TARDIS as Willow's crying grows louder and louder.

Rory's gravestone gains more words.

Later, in the TARDIS, River is flying whilst The Doctor sits on the stairs, Willow is on the jump seat with a tear-stained face with mascara smudged around her eyes, her head in her hands.

"River, they were your parents as well," The Doctor starts "I'm sorry, I didn't think,"

"It doesn't matter," she brushes him off

"Of course, it matters," Willow coaks out, looking at her sister through newly formed tears

"What matters is this. Doctor, Willow," River looks to them both "don't travel alone,"

"Travel with us then," The Doctor offers

"Whenever and wherever you want. But not all the time... One psychopathic sister per TARDIS, don't you think?" River goes to look at Willow, but she's gone "Okay. This book I've got to write. Melody Malone. I presume I send it to Amy to get it published?"

"Yes," The Doctor is holding a hand to his face "Yes,"

"I'll tell her to write an afterword," River walks over to the stairs "For you," River reaches the top of the stairs "Maybe you'll listen to her,". River walks out to find her sister as The Doctor realises something.

"The last page!" He gets up and runs to the console.

"You didn't have to come all the way back here to cry," River says when she sees Willow leant against a wall, near her old bedroom door.

"I did," Willow defends "He can't - "she trails off "He can't see me like this, it'll break him,"

"I'm sure it will," River goes to stand by her sister "But you need to grieve,"

"But I -" Willow tries to keep her tears back "I knew this would happen. How did I know?"

"I -" River goes to say she didn't know, but then it clicks "Why did you never tell me how you got Alex back?"

"Hm?" Willow looks up "You - I can't..."

"Look, Mum's gone you need to -"

"It's not just mum!" Willow shouts, walking away from the wall, looking at her sister "It's dad as well. They're gone River! I don't care about technicalities; I'll never see them again! The twins will never meet their grandparents. Oh god!" Willow looks away from River, crying into her hands.

"Shh, shh, deep breathes," River tries to approach her sister, but she pushes her away.

"I can't - I can't breathe," Willow tries to, but can't through her tears, she hits her back against the wall and slips down it. River knees next to her and takes her hand, but Willow keeps pushing her off "No, No I need -" she trails off, banging her head in her knees "Space, I need space to breathe,"

"Okay...Okay," River kisses her forehead before backing away, grabbing her coat before she leaves. She had something to do, for her sister.

Afterword, by Amelia Williams.

'Hello, old friend. And here we are, you and me, on the last page. By the time you read these words, Rory and I will be long gone. So, know that we lived well, and were very happy. And above all else, know that we will love you always.

Sometimes I do worry about you, though. I think once we're gone, you won't be coming back here for a while, and you might be alone, which you should never be. Don't be alone, Doctor.

And do one more thing for me.

There's a little girl waiting in a garden. She's going to wait a long while, so she's going to need a lot of hope. Go to her. Tell her a story. Tell her that if she's patient, the days are coming that she'll never forget. Tell her she'll go to sea and fight pirates. She'll fall in love with a man who'll wait two thousand years to keep her safe. That she'll give birth to the best daughters to ever walk the earth and that she'll have a family that loves her unconditionally. Tell her she'll give hope to the greatest painter who ever lived and save a whale in outer space. Tell her this is the story of Amelia Pond. And this how it ends.'
