{THE GOD COMPLEX - 2}
Joe's mouth has been taped shut, and Gibbis is wheeling him along a corridor, everyone else following.
"Personally, I think you've got the right idea. Times like this, I think of my old school motto. Resistance Is Exhausting," Amy and The Doctor share a look and Willow rolls her eyes.
"I've worked out where we are," Howie starts whilst at the back of the group with Alex and Rory.
"Hmm?"
"Norway,"
"Norway?" Rory questions
"You see, the US government has entire cities hidden in the Norwegian mountains. You see, Earth is on a collision course with this other planet, and this is where they're going to send all the rich people when it kicks off,"
"Amazing..."
"Well, It's all there on the internet,"
"No, it's amazing you've come up with a theory even more insane than what's actually happening," Rory walks forward and Alex gives Howie a small smile before A man in his underwear and with a whistle around his neck steps out of room 158.
"Hello..." The Doctor starts
"Have you forgotten your PE kit again?!" There's silence as no one is quite sure how to respond "Right, that's it, you're doing it in your pants!" he goes back into the room.
The Doctors turns to make a face to Willow, but sees Howie going to open a door "Hey! Don't!" Howie opens room 155. There are a lot of pretty girls there.
"Oh, look, girls, it's H-H-H-Howie!" a blonde mocks
"What's loser in K-K-K-Klingon?"
"T- th - the d -do - door," Alex slams it shut "This is just some me-m-messed up CIA stuff, I'm, I'm, I'm telling you!"
"You're right. Keep telling yourself that. It's a CIA thing, nothing more," The Doctor tells Howie, patting his back before the group ascends up the stairs again and find the second floor. The Doctor starts touching anything he can, any tears in the wallpaper or cracks in the ceiling.
As they continue, Amy spots some pages on the floor and picks them up a Rory kneels to tie his shoelaces and spots a Fire Exit.
"Er guys?" Rory pints and Alex turns, seeing it as well.
"Look..." Amy starts to read the pages when something roars "Okay, whatever that is, it's not real, yeah?"
"No. No, I'm sure it isn't, but just in case, let's run away and hide anyway!" the roaring gets loader "In here!" Amy and Gibbis rush into a room and Rita pulls Joe's chair into a room.
"No, this way! I've found a -" Rory looks back at the fire exit and it becomes room 219. Willow grabs Alex's hand and pulls her into a random room '128'.
"Rory, come on!" The Doctor shouts
"There was a -"
"Come on!"
Alex and Willow look around their room and find a glass box with a random man in as water starts to fill up.
"Oh my god," Alex realises what's happening "he's not real, right?"
"I don't think so..." Willow walks up to the glass and taps on it, but the man just stands there, staring straight on as water keeps rushing in "yeah no, we should find a new room," Willow goes to open the door but Alex stops her.
"What of the...thing's out there...?"
"Let's just hope it's not eh?" Willow kisses Alex's forehead and opens the door and hears The Doctors calling for Joe, she sighs, grabbing Alex's hand and rushing off.
They rush about, trying to find The Doctor but as Rita said, the hallways seem to move and when they finally find The Doctor, he's standing over Joe's dead body.
----------&----------
Joe is laid on a table and the Doctor is scanning him as Willow and Alex sit at a table, watching Rory and Howie go to block up the door and Rita boils the kettle. Amy starts talking to Gibbis and his responses are clearly getting on her nervous, so she walks away and Rory joins her, Willow smiles when they laugh.
"That man in the glass..." Alex starts
"Wasn't real, he wasn't alive so he isn't dead,"
"How do you know that?"
"If the weeping angels Rory, Amy and The Doctor saw weren't real, he wasn't," Willow reassures her daughter, grabbing her hand "Simple as that,"
"Hm," Alex smiles "I'm gonna grab some tea, you want a cup?"
"Sure,".
A little bit later, Amy walks up to The Doctor and Willow joins them "Doctor, look at this. I found it in a corridor, I completely forgot I had it," Amy passes him the pages.
"Er, my name is Lucy Hayward," The Doctor starts reading "and I'm the last one left. It took Luke first. It got him on his first day, almost as soon as we arrived. It's funny. You don't know what's going to be in your room until you see it, then you realise it could never have been anything else. I just saw mine. It was a gorilla from a book I'd read as a kid. My God, that thing used to terrify me. The gaps between my worships are getting shorter, like contractions..." Willow sits down slowly, if she made that connection, she could have been a mother... "This is what happened to the others, and how lucky they were. It's all so clear now. I'm so happy. Praise him..."
"Praise him," Howie says abruptly
"What did you just say?" Alex asks
"Nothing...Praise him!"
"This is what happened to Joe!" Gibbis shouts and the room irrupts into chaos, Gibbis shouting, Howie freaking out and everyone else trying to calm Howie down.
The Doctor quickly points his screwdriver upwards and a ringing noise fills everyone's ears and they cover them, also shutting up "Thank you..."
"Don't you see? He'll lead it right here!" Gibbis exclaims
"What do you suggest?" Rita asks
"Look, whatever it is out there, it's obviously chosen Howard as its next course. Now, tragic though that is, this is no time for sentiment. I'm saying if it were to find him, it may be satisfied and let the rest of us go," Gibbis sits down "All I want to do is go home and be conquered and oppressed. Is that too much to ask?!"
"Yes!" Alex shouts, "You're a coward, even by your race's standards!"
"It's okay. I'll stay with Howie. You take the others and go," Rita starts quietly.
"No. We stay together," The Doctor goes over to Gibbis "Your civilisation is one of the oldest in the galaxy. Now I see why. Your cowardice isn't quaint, it's sly, aggressive. It's how that gene of gutlessness has survived while so many others have perished. Well, not today. No one else dies today. Right?" Gibbis nods, slightly scared and called out "Brilliant," The Doctor stands "Now, Howie, any second, it's going to possess you again. When it does, I'm going to ask you some questions. Please try to answer them," The Doctor sits Howie down, then sits at the same table, Willow next to him.
"I hope my mum's all right, she's going to be w-worried," Suddenly, Howie's eyes widen and a smile like Joe's takes over takes his face.
"Howie? Howie, you're next. We're all dead jealous. So, tell us. How do we get a piece of the action? Why isn't he possessing all of us?" The Doctor fakes enthusiasm.
"You guys have got all these distractions, all these obstacles. It'd be so much easier if you just let it go, you know? Clear the path,"
"You want it to find you even though you know what it's going to do?" Amy smiles
"Are you kidding? He's going to kill us all. How cool is that?" Howie laughs and everyone stands, standing in a semi-circle in the corner.
"It's as I thought. It feeds on fear. Everything, the rooms, Lucy's note, even the pictures in reception, has been put here to frighten us. So, we have to resist it. Do whatever you have to. Cross your fingers, say a prayer, think of a basket of kittens, but do not give in to the fear,"
"Okay, but what are we actually going to do?" Willow asks
"We're going to catch ourselves a monster,".
