{THE POWER OF THREE - 4}
"How many deaths have been recorded?" The Doctor asks as him, Amy and Willow follow Kate down the halls of the hospital.
"We don't know. We think it could be a third of the population," Kate responds, turning back to look at the trio.
"Kate, I have to find the wormhole, but the attacks could still happen. Tell the world. Tell them how to deal with this. The world needs your leadership right now,"
"I'll do my best,"
"Of course, you will. Good luck, Kate," She walks off, going to find the offices inside the hospital. The Doctor nearly falls over in pain and Amy takes one of his arms, trying to keep him standing up.
"Okay, how long are you going to last with only one heart?" she asks as Willow takes the other arm
"Not much longer. I need to locate the wormhole portal -" he tries to get his sonic but fails, Willow takes her own out, starting it up and scanning the area whilst her and Amy support The Doctor.
"Oooo," Willow turns and The Doctor reads from her screwdriver, walking backwards to find a little girl, holding a black box.
"Hello. Hello! You are giving off some very strange signals," As the Doctor says this, Willow scans her. The girls face glows blue.
"Oh, my God," Amy - who's now in front of the girl - lets her eyes widen.
"Outlier droid, monitoring everything," The Doctor says "If Willow can shut her down, we can -" he trails off and Willow sonics the girl, who looks to pass out. Willow grabs her, lowering her to the floor.
"It's alright, you're alright,"
"Onwards!" The Doctor points forward and staggers through the hallway, Amy and Willow sigh, looking at each other before going to help him. They make it barely a few steps before The Doctor groans in pain again.
"I can't, Willow. I can't do it. I need both hearts!" Willow and Amy look at each other and Amy looks behind her where a portable defibrillator is on a table.
"All right. Desperate measures," Amy grabs it and The Doctor falls to the floor, he sees what she's holding.
"What? No. No, no, no. That won't work!" Amy ignores him and Willow steps back, letting whatever was happening happen. Amy has to unbutton his shirt and she starts up the defibrillator "I'm a Time Lord!"
"All right, clear!" she presses it to his chest, applying the charge.
"Whoo! Ooo. Ooo!" The Doctor stands and Amy steps back "Welcome back, lefty! Whoa-ho! Two hearts! Woo! Back in the game!" he grins happily, doing a small dance, Willow laughs at the sight "Ah. Never do that to me again," he tells Amy who nods as they walk forwards, The Doctor forgetting to button his shirt, causing Willow to try and catch up with him, buttoning them on the way.

The trio walk through the halls for a while, until they come across a lift that has a suspicion amount of out of order tape on it. It dings and the three walks towards it and Willow opens the door with her sonic.
"Ah, portal to another dimension in a goods lift?"
"More likely than you'd think," Willow smiles at her mother as The Doctor sonics the inside of the lift.
"The energy signals converge here. Does seem a bit cramped, though..." The sonic gets louder when pointed at the right wall. The Doctor pokes it and it looks like it's wobbling.
"Through the looking glass, Amelia?" he asks Amy, then turns to his wife "Willow," he holds his hands out to both of them and they take them.
Come along Pond.

They walk through a hallway until the enter a large room "Where are we?" Amy asks, looking round at the pillars throughout the white ship.
"We're in orbit. One dimension to the left,"
Willow looks around "Dad...?" she mutters, seeing Rory lying on a large metal slab next to Brian.
Amy rushes over "Rory!" The Doctor takes out a small glass vial with powder in it, he passes it to Willow who waves it under Rory's nose and he sits up suddenly.
"Ah. Soborian smelling salts. Outlawed in seven galaxies," The Doctor tells them, seconds before they're all shot at.
"Whoa! Whoa! What kind of a welcome do you call that?" he shouts back at a screen "Get them out of here," he says to Amy and Rory, then he looks at Willow "You too. Now!"
"What are you going to do?"
"Absolutely no idea!" he points to Brian "Get him to the portal," The Doctor walks up to a control screen and Amy, Willow and Rory starts wheeling Brian out, the slab goes out of control for a moment, and Willow swears under her breath. She grabs the salts, and waves them under Brian's nose, causing him to sit up straight and look around in confusion whilst his son, daughter in-law and granddaughter wheel him out of the spaceship.
"What is happening?"
"Long story," Amy starts,
"We'll explain later," Rory continues
"Just um, go through that strange looking portal," Willow points and Brian gets down off the slab
"Right, strange portal," he goes through and Rory turns to Amy and Willow.
"Going back?"
"Going back," Amy responds
"Going back," Willow smiles as the three set off in a run. They enter the room as a strange alien with cracked skin speaks.
"The human contagion only must be eliminated,"
"Who are you calling a contagion?" Amy pops up on the left side of The Doctor, Willow to her left and Rory to The Doctor's right.
"Oi! Didn't I tell you three to go?"
"You should have learned by now," Rory tells him
"Honestly, it's a true shock you haven't," Willow adds
"Yeah, and what is this Tally anyway?"
"Some people call it 'Judgment Day', or the 'Reckoning',"
"Don't you know?" Amy asks
"I've never wanted to find out,"
"Before the Closure, there is the Tally. The Shakri serves the Tally," the Alien explains
"The pest controllers of the universe, that's how the tales went, isn't it?"
"Wow. That's some seriously weird bedtime story," Amy says and Willow grins.
"You can talk. Wolf in your grandmother's nightdress?" The Doctor turns to her
"What's the time Mr Wolf?" Willow quotes the children's game
"So, here you are, depositing slug pellets all over the Earth, made attractive so humans will collect them, hoping to find something beautiful inside," The Doctor walks past the screen to face the Shakri
"Because that's what they are. Not pests or plague, creatures of hope, forever building and reaching. Making mistakes, of course, every life form does. But - but they learn. And they strive for greater, and they achieve it. You want a tally. Put their achievements against their failings through the whole of time, I will back humanity against the Shakri every time,"
"The Tally must be met. The second wave will be released,"
"What does that mean?"
"It's going to release more cubes to kill more people," Willow answers her mother
"The human plague breeding and fighting. And when cornered, their rage to destroy. You're too late, Doctor. The Tally shall be met," the alien vanishes.
"He's gone?"
"I don't think he was really here,"
"Willow's right - He was never here. Just the ship's automated interface, like a talking propaganda poster," The Doctor scans the control screen with his sonic "I can stop the second wave. I can disconnect all the Shakri craft from their portals, leave them drifting in the darkspace. Ah, but all those people who were near the cubes, so many of them will have died,"
"I restarted one of your hearts,"
"You'd need mass defibrillation," Rory explains
"Of course. Ah, beautiful. But, Ponds," he turns to the family "Ponds!" he grins slightly "We are going to go one better than that. The Shakri used the cubes to turn people's hearts off. Bingo! We're going to use them to turn them back on again,"
"Will that work?"
"Well, creatures of hope. Has to," he sonics the computer.
"Thirty seconds. Don't let me down, cubes, you're working for me now... he trails off as the ship shakes violently "Oh dear. All these cubes. There's going to be a terrible wave of energy ricocheting around here any second,"
"Run," he grabs Willow's hand and pulls her away, forcing her to run with him, they barely hear Rory turn to Amy.
"I'm going to miss this,".
Him and Amy run out as well and the four jump through the portal just as the ships explodes. They all land face down, hands out to stop their fall. The Doctor laughs and stands, the others following suit. Amy looks at Willow who stands at the back of the lift, hand on her stomach.
'You okay?' she mouths and Willow nods.

The Doctor and Kate are walking under the arches at The Tower of London.
"You, er, you really are as remarkable as Dad said," they reach the end and Kate gives The Doctor a kiss on the cheek "Thank you,"
"My! A kiss from a Lethbridge-Stewart!" he turns to Willow who's wearing her sunglasses again, leant against a UNIT Range Rover, she grins back at him "That is new," he checks his watch "Oh dear, I'm late for dinner," he walks over to Willow
"Hey uh, can we take a quick walk before we go back,"
"Why?" The Doctor asks, a bit suspicious.
"We're at the Tower of London, it's a nice day and the suns about to set. Explanation enough?"
"Yeah," The Doctor turns, salutes Kate before letting Willow loop her arm in his as they start to walk. They start walking along the Thames and Willow pushes her sunglasses up and into her hair.
"So..."
"That 'so' makes me think we're not on the walk to actually look at the sunset,"
"Hm, maybe you're right," Willow smiles up at her husband as she pulls him to an empty bench, they sit down and Willow grabs The Doctor's hands "I need to tell you something,"
"You're not staying here too are you?"
"What?!" Willow laughs "And leave you with Alexandra? No way,"
"Okay," The Doctor looks very nervous still
"You know how I've been really sick, and tired?"
"Mhm,"
"Well...I know why. And before you think I'm dying! Which wouldn't really be a problem considering I'd just regenerate -"
"Willow," The Doctor stops her "You're rambling,"
"Uh yeah. Well, I'm..." she struggles to say it "Pregnant," The Doctor's eyes widen and he looks at her stomach
"Are you - are you sure?"
"Yeah," Willow smiles, letting go of his hands to tighten her dress around her and there's a prominent bump "Definitely,"
"Oh my god," The Doctor feels tears start to form in his eyes, he'd never had the experience of Willow actually telling him about her being pregnant. He'd never truly been sure, never shared this moment before "There's a baby in there?" he points to her bump and Willow laughs slightly
"Babies," she corrects and he meets her eyes "Twins!" she shrugs slightly and The Doctor lets out a large grin.
"Wow..."
"Yeah," Willow says as The Doctor grabs one of her hands as he places the other over her stomach, she watches him with her own tears "...Wow,".

The Ponds are having a family meal with Brian, Chinese is spread across the table and the room is filled with laughter. Willow had told Rory about her pregnancy before dinner and he'd been shocked to learn he'd have three grandchildren before he'd even really raised a child. But he'd hugged Willow and congratulated The Doctor all the same. They'd decided not to tell Brian because well...It might be a bit of a shock.
"Dear me," The Doctor checks his watch "We'd better get going. I promised Alexandra she wouldn't have to eat Victorian food for dinner again," Willow cringes slightly
"Yeah, she really would prefer Turkey dinosaurs"
"We've got things to do, worlds to save, swings to..." The Doctor trails off
"Swing on?" Willow smirks
"Swing on, yeah," The Doctor stands and goes to give Amy and Rory a back hug, he wraps his arms around their shoulder and Willow stands as well "Look, I know, you both have lives here. Beautiful, messy lives. That is what makes you so fabulously human. You don't want to give them up. I understand,"
"Actually, it's you they can't give up, Doctor," Brian smiles "And I don't think they should," Rory looks at his dad in shock "Go with him. Go save every world you can find. Who else has that chance? Life will still be here,"
"You could come, Brian," Willow offers
"Somebody's got to water the plants. Just bring them back safe," Amy and Rory laugh, getting up and grabbing their coats.
"So that was the year of the slow invasion, when the Earth got cubed, and The Doctor and our daughter came to stay. It was also when we realised something the Shakri never understood, something that Alexandra and her siblings will learn -. what cubed actually means,"
Back in the TARDIS, The Doctor puts a small photo up on the fridge, next to a photo of Alexandra. He steps back and looks back at the two photos side by side. His daughter, next to a sonogram of the twins in Willow's stomach.
"The power of three,".
Several years later
Willow sits in a very different TARDIS, staring at the fridge as she sips her tea. A photo of older Alex is on the fridge, she has two figures next to her and they're laughing as the TARDIS stands behind them.
She smiles looking at it, but is distracted by voices in the background.
"Willow!" a very Scottish voice calls "Clara said she'd pluck my eyebrows, you – "
"I was joking!" another voice calls "Goldie, tell your husband he's a big baby,"
"Willow, tell Clara –"
"Can I have one moment of peace with you two?!" Willow shouts back, smiling when there's silence. She takes another sip of her tea, looking back at the fridge, smiling softer when she sees the sonogram in the top left.
