1000 Strong Prompt 1 (472 words)
Dear whoever's left,
It's been a few months (I think, I'm loosing track of time) since that fateful day The aliens came and took the world away from me. You see, I'm writing this to get help. To get us help. I think we're in Boston for I can hear the sea and that was my old home. I know the sounds and smells well. These aliens tell us, in their way, we're the only ones left, but I just know that can't be true. The overwhelming evidence lies in my dreams. I see you all, people just like me, enslaved to do work we have never had to do before. My dreams were never wrong before.
Yeah, you heard me right I said "we" not "I" for a reason. You see, there are more of us here. Seven of us in total. I do not know their names nor what they look like. I can feel them though, sense them. During the day they put these goggles on our faces to keep us from seeing eachother. We can still see them though. The aliens. Our prison keepers.
We get put through testing everyday to make sure we aren't thinking. To prove this we have to just lie there and get beaten without reaction at all. Then the healers come and somehow they make all our pain go away. Then there are the chores. I'm on dishes, but I've never washed a single dish. Why you ask? To wash dishes, one must use their brain to hold the dish, wipe the dish, and make sure it is cleaned. Because of this, every single dish that finds its way to my hands crashes to the floor and shatters. We aren't allowed to talk or think too much. If they suspect us of thinking we'll be taken to somewhere else. I've never been taken, but I am sure some of the others have been. I do not know what happens there. If we are caught talking we are gagged for the entire day. We aren't supposed to write either, but I stole a pen and paper from my guard. I'm desperate, please send help.
Sincerely,
|

Many hours later a boy is seen lying on a sort of bed with a translation device hooked up to his head. Two aliens are in the room. One is hooked up to the translator. The other, is watching and clutching onto something very tightly.
"Who are you?" The words float into the boys head, but he does not know what to make of them. They just...exist. "Good. Now where are you?" Still nothing. "See Germilen," the alien running the test speaks to the guard. "Even the toughest minds on this place called Earth can be broken. Disintegrate that paper, NOW. Then it's back to dishes for him."
